The normal overworld theme and the underground hallow are both pretty memorable, for me at least. Haven't played for at least a year and I can still remember them really well.

How does the transition work in this game? Do I just enter a new world or do I have to make an entirely new character?
When you generate a world you can make a new character or use an existing one. So you can have one dude and explore loads of worlds if you want.
Do you pronounce it terr-AH-ria or terr-AIR-ia?

New world will most likely be necessary to get the new stuff to spawn in it, old character should work but the vast majority of players would suggest you start a new character for big updates, since he tends to add a lot of shit to all levels of progression rather than only slapping shit onto the higher end.
During updates, items and worldgen systems get added. Characters are never affected, because Red is based.
New worlds are usually a good idea when major updates occur anyway, to get the most out of it.
