Been replaying the greatest JRPG ever and just got to her. What are some party setups that use her? I usually end up playing Riki and Dunban.

If you want Melia on the team, you've got to play as her.
Her AI is woefully inadequate.

Her AI is just summoning a few bolts and standing far away from any combat.
You're gonna have to play as her whenever you want her in the party. But she is probably the best party member in the game if you do, Highest DPS from Bolt and Spear Break + Starlight Kick is probably the most surefire topple method in the game.
There's a few other things too but they aren't coming to mind, she is best girl.

If you let the AI take Shulk make sure to take Battle Soul off. Apparently his AI will use it constantly.

You also need to wait for her to get more skills unless you've really powerleveled or she'll have downtime with all her cooldowns used up. And she can't exactly make up with it autoattacking.

I honestly just had Shulk and Reyn do the dirty work while I had double strength running at almost all times, got a poison off and then just electrify/topple the enemy as necessary.
Kinda ez-mode honestly.

She is actually one of the worst party members, the only time she becomes good is when you get a bunch of level 6 gems and stack spell damage.

I'm at Sword Valley and getting bored. If I play as Melia to alleviate boredom, can I still keep Shulk and Reyn in my party and not die from lack of heals? I need the bros together, and I've had Sharla keep them alive till now.

Just play around with different ability rotations, the game isn't really that difficult to require Sharla to be in the party.

At this point in the game Sharla should be pretty useless, both Melia and Riki have reliable heals and have more usable than Sharla, yeah you'll be alive but you're risking yourself more by having fights drag out too long.

Sharla's heals are pretty massive by the endgame though, with her in my party I was able to useFioraas an effective tank despite being squishier than the other two.

This track in particular reminds me of the good Chrono Cross tracks. Loved Agniratha when I first stepped in there and given the setting, it really paints a good impression of the Machina.
I wasn't so keen on it after finding huge amounts of respawning unique Mechon with spike damage.

I'm doing the sidequests because I hate myself, but I'm thinking of giving it up because the Affinity Chart is the most tedious thing I've ever seen. It might be bump off the original Wind Waker figurine quest for the most aggravating sidequest ever put in a video game.

Fuck those side quests and the Town/village reputation system. Not only does it take like 10+ hours to get max rep, you gotta do it for every town.
And some of those quests are just absolutely shit, I remember there was one in Riki's village that required you to run around Makna forest collectibles until you get one that has a 2% spawn chance.
So you just run around grabbing blue shiny things for a few hours, for ONE quest out of 50
