People always overstate or rationalize certain things; cooking scenes despite how there aren't any more cooking scenes than Fate route, murderer despite how they'll love Kotomine in the same sentence, Rape even though they'll say Kohaku was great in the same sentence, saying nothing happens in the route when that's plain bullshit that's been proven otherwise.
In the end it just boils down to "Sakura is boring, I hated her" typically. People just kind of rationalize it in different ways. Cooking scenes weren't any more of an issue than any other routes, that's just a rationalization. However people that play it tend to agree its one of the best Fate stories to date for sure, in terms of writing and plot elements at least. There is a solid coat of Nasu just fucking about on top of that where in put in a lot of absurd and comical stuff. Guy had a lot of fun with it and it's not hard to see. It's got some Ataraxia elements as well.
This was originally the final Fate story from Nasu, he was calling it quits after this so he went all out. He calls it the heart of Fate as a whole, and even the pinnacle. The story is for real and has some powerful moments. Although with all Nasu stuff, if you just look at the surface and go "That looks strange, why is King Arthur a girl?" you won't get far.

Setting and character interaction is the high point
You have to find three clues to the other servants identity each week to figure out their identity, and then you fight them at the end of the week while grinding in between. The game walks you through the first week a bit to show you how it works in collecting three secrets on someone.

I just finished Caster in Normal on my first plan through, I loved Fate/Stay Night, this is a great addition for the series. Going to try other servant, but on easy this time.

In the last 2 week, the game became a cake walk, all monster 1 hit kills. The boss are just a few cast away from their lengthy doom speech. Their skill and final attack are basically mana potion for caster. I finished the game at level 35.

I feel this game has a really strong opening. The twist at the beginning before you choose name and stuff was genuinely surprising. I really wanted to go with Archer (based on looks because I'm a shallow jerk), but I suck at video games and reading that some people had some difficulty, I caved and chose Saber for easy mode. I intend to play through multiple times anyway so I'll do Archer my next play through.
The message when I started the game about dead ends really makes me nervous. I usually play games alternating between 2-3 saves. I don't know if that will be enough. I don't like having a ton of saves on my memory card because I always get confused when going to load something up.
My only complaint so far is that the text is a little on the slow side, even at the fast setting.

So far, defeating the opponents gives me the same feeling as when I beat the colossi from Shadow of the Colossus.
At the beginning and end of the week, you get little tidbits that actually have something to do with the whole story. For the most part, you remain in the dark while everyone else seems to know what is going on. Nobody ever really tells you anything, and say things like "Hmmm, I see... it makes sense now..." and act all mysterious. For the most part, most of the main characters are as puzzled as you are on why you're able to survive for this long.

Even he shouldn't exist in the real world if not for a certain cheat. No matter how you play it the servant is the reason you were able to survive that far, and they were the reason you were able to break through the final firewall after BB held back the erasing wall for a few seconds. They protected you literally throughout the entire journey, and were your soul savior throughout. They fought against the elder god, saved you more times than you can count, and were the reason any of this worked out
I keep saying don't try to start waifu wars like in other Fate threads to get people to dislike heroines, when people love all the Extra heroines at the moment. MC would be dead for sure without Blossom, dead for sure without BB, dead for sure without his servant no matter how you play it, dead for sure without Rin, without Rani, without Leo, basically without any of them. They all played their part and were something that can't be thrown away or discredited.
It's not "They didn't have anything to do wi-" they had everything to do with it, shit was by far a team effort.
