Reach is the reason Halo 4 sucked so hard. 343 copied the design of what was objectively the least successful entry in the series. Shockingly, Halo 4 suffered the same fate as Reach.
I'll at least forgive Bungie for trying something new and experimenting with the formula, but after Reach's reception became clear, there was no reason for anyone to continue that design philosophy for Halo.
The players expect CE-3 type gameplay, and until they get that again, each new entry is going to die just as quickly as Reach/4.

I liked how Halo's aliens weren't just humans in makeup, but it looks like 343 has to fuck that up too. It actually makes the spread of some weapons less severe and (in the beta, they're "reducing" it in the final version though fuck really knows how far) it actually gives automatic weapons some headshot bonus.
I think it's entirely unnecessary on the grounds that slayer gametypes start you with a pistol and so you should never actually need zoom on an assault rifle. Hopefully "reduce" means "remove entirely because we realize that removing one of the few things separating us from the modern shooter was not being able to spray and pray", but at least you can get shot out of it like descoping in the previous games. That's something, I guess.
