In P3 and FES, the boss stats and patterns were built around MC doing 80% the work, the his team supporting him/being meatshields. This worked because you could only give them general orders of 'attack now, heal now, go all out, play it safe'
in P3P, you have direct control of all your party members, which means you can just do the exact 'best' series of actions every turn (x attacks, y debuffs, z heals whoevers on lowest, Once More's up the arse' and the bosses just fall over without much of a fight

Even after maxing social links in P4, you can still meet with them at night to get unique dialogue depending on where you are in the story as well as a free item (depending on current rank/lovers or not). Additionally, you can still hang out with your girlfriend after maxing their S link though you only ever get the one scene of them revisiting your room.
My idea would be to expand on this simply by adding more smaller scenes when you hang out with them post-maxing, and give some incentive to do so like items/skills/relationship points with unmaxed S links.

My first time through P4 I did one-day runs. It just took a while before and during Kanji's dungeon because I had to kill until I got one of the SP-Refill Arcanas. After Kanji's though it was a breeze because SP is the only limiting factor and you can get a mage-mark from his dungeon. It's broken as fuck because it restores SP every turn so whenever I ran out of SP I went to the first floor of the starter dungeon and guarded until my SP was full again.
This one image is what ruined his entire character.

Yosuke has a much bigger case against him than that though.
The entire town hates him because of Junes, he hates being stuck out in the middle of nowhere, and even his shadow reminds him that he's somewhat excited for something to be happening in town. Not to mention that each victim up until Naoto is an heir to a local business. It would have also made some sense thematically if you had to suspect your best friend.
Honestly though, you can make a case against everyone besides Chie, Naoto, & Nanako.

The way I took it was, Adachi lived a shitty life so he turned out shitty. As awful and selfish as that is, I can kinda understand what the anime was going for. Nature vs nurture etc. It makes sense to me given that the player's experience in the game is blatant wish-fulfillment "everyone wants to be your friend/suck your dick", which you could compare to basically anyone else.

That's like the one thing I'm terrified of in video games. I think one of the FFs did something like that, but with the villain as a temporary party member.
My worst fear is if you're forced to fight your other party member and they have the same stats and equipment they did when they were playable. I can't think of any console game that does this, but a while ago I played a singleplayer story campaign-focused MOBA-esque game on mobile (it was okay). In it you have multiple heroes and also different units/towers you can unlock and upgrade. At one MANDATORY point in story mode, you fight one of the heroes you've unlocked for that story mode. Then, you have to play as one of the other heroes you've unlocked and fight the hero you used in the previous fight with their stats/equipment/units/etc.
Now, it's a shitty mobile game so I cheated my character to be one of the normally unplayable boss characters and have super powered units/etc, so this was like a horrific nightmare of my own creation. I had to skip the stage by editing the save file but still.
In relation to Persona, by the time I got to Heaven I had accidentally got 3 party members to level 99 from farming gold hands to level up Yoshitsune and Trumpeter for their skills. Then I learned that an upcoming boss can take control of party members and I got kinda worried.I killed the boss in three turns but still, had me sweating for a second.

I really wish they'd handled Adachi better in the original game. If you really pay attention to a few parts of the game you realize that he has a whole backstory that isn't really spelled out for you.
From what I understand, he was just an average (if socially inept) guy who joined the police on a whim. He fucked up somehowApparently sexual harassment, but I've never seen a source for itand got sent out to Inaba, a town in the middle of nowhere. Somewhere along the line he gets cynical, depressed, and starts waifuing Mayumi Yamano, which triggers his near suicidal state when he finds out about her affair on TV (remember his room in the TV world, with the scarf noose and the scratched out posters).
I'd actually like to see more of his backstory in a side story or something, he wasn't really built up in P4, and you can only piece together the info after the fact

Here's the problem I have with Adachi being the killer and it's a bigger problem with the whole murder mystery genre to be honest. It's ALWAYS someone who is/was a cop or is somehow involved with the police. I played Heavy Rain before Persona 4 so I had a good idea playing through it was Adachi, and honestly heavy rain did it better than Persona 4 which says a lot.

This is one of the many things that pissed me off the most regarding my experience with Persona 4. The only character development the entirety of the fucking Investigation Team had outside of their [shit] social links was them realizing that everyone has different sides to them, and everyone has their own problems, and yet when it comes time to confront Adachi all of that goes out the window in favor of calling him names and generally being a hypocrite. I'm in no way justifying anything Adachi did, but could they at least have FUCKING TRIED to understand him? With the experiences they all went through I doubt it would have been fucking hard. I agree with you there, but I want to add something about party member character development.
Chie is my favorite character in Persona 4, yet everyone says she's nothing more than a tomboy who's obsessed with meat and is revealed to have jealousy and self-worth issues that are overcome really early on. And they're absolutely right, that's basically all to her character and in her social link she decides she wants to protect people because sure okay. That's all she is... unless you become her boyfriend.
In the lovers route she opens up a little bit more and it's revealed how she's shy when it comes to romance, she still wants to be seen as feminine and feels inadequate as a woman compared to Yukiko and the other girls. I know it's not much, but it makes her a bit more interesting as character.
My gripe is, why is it only limited to her lovers scenes? Why couldn't they have thrown in a bit more of this conflict in her social link, or even just other cutscenes? Kanji, Rise, Yukiko and Naoto's social links are all directly about dealing with the issues behind their shadow, but I feel like it's not done at all for Chie's regular S link.
