LEADER WHITNEY sent out MILTANK!
Azel
Tired to get my cousin that only plays CoD and Asscreed to try it.
They said they had no idea what they were doing even though I explained it to them.
>People actually struggled with Matador
HOW
>>283587972
How is norman a causal filter? You can easily have a well leveled breloom by then, and you can have a 6 mon team against 2 slakings that waste turns. Whitney was much more a wall than him.
>>283587879
That's like me trying to teach my nephew how to play Dark Souls but he keeps losing because he keeps charging in and mashing the attack button, even with the Drake Sword
>>283585517
SMT nocturne is my first JRPG besides nocturne and i died to matador twice. I killed him using 2 force resistance demons, 1 phys resist demon and the phys resist magatama. My phys resist demon was weak to force too so he got extra turns. I don't know why you guys say he is so hard. Maybe on hard difficulty it will be a whole other story.
>>283588303
These levels were fun though. Same with the rolling ball levels.
Doesn't help that it's right after a point of no return.
>>283587378
BONE ON THE MEAT
BONE THE MEAT ON
>>283588476
first JRPG besides 1st & 2nd Gen pokemon*
>>283587879
>All those threads on release of people getting their shit slapped by Hollow Queen
>>283587717
I honestly had no problem with miltank, I have no idea why she's so difficult for some people.
These 2 from FF Tactics...easily.
>>283588476
>Playing on normal
Yeah, there is your problem.
>>283585517
>>283588549
this, this is why i had to replay the game and actually learn how to play it properly
This entire fucking world. After this the game is mostly smooth sailing.
>>283588758
i figured since it was my first smt i should go normal first. What is the differences between difficulties? So far I've gotten by with little grinding, but getting new demons is kind of a bitch.
>>283587548
I used the select trick to kill him in 5 seconds
Kickin it old school
>>283585517
yeah JRPG is pretty casual
RPG is a casual genre as a whole
>>283588773
That's some artificial difficulty shit right there.
>>283585517
>>283588773
>>283588729
I had to go back to my save file before doing this section and buy that armour that resists earth damage specifically for the Ramza solo section
>>283588773
>Optional endgame boss
That's not how casual filters work.
Bladewolf and Monsoon in MGR.
>>283588694
Milktank could soak up damage easily and her rollout kept dishing out more damage per turn. So if it wasn't downed or under some sort of status on turn 3 or 4, Milktank figuratively became a wrecking ball.
Only had an issue with it in one playthrough and that was because I was leveling everything evenly instead of just using one or two pokes.
>>283588959
In my latest playthrough, I did nothing but drop all of my snare traps that would piss me off enough to pick up. It makes a mockery of that fight.
>>283588729
wiegraf's fight was easy as a soldier
>>283588694
For me I never had a pokeman that was strong against normal types, and Miltank's defense (or HP) was really high compared to other leaders. Not to mention Rollout literally one-shot most peoples' parties.
>>283588773
Never really put much time into DDS, what's the context here? What can you even do against it?
>>283588694
Retards didn't catch a rock pokemon or didn't trade for the Machop
>>283589134
You're a casual if you can't defeat themand Seth and Demifiend
Prepare the lazer beam.
>>283585517
>>283588831
Christ this fight took me a while, my Ramza was a glass cannon but couldn't kill him in one turn so he would just heal from hitting me. Had to take a break from the game for a bit but then plowed through the rest of the game.
>>283588091
His stats are high. He doesn't require some advanced strategy or something. Your characters just miss him. So you have to go grind for quite a while until you can face him.
>>283589157
And a Thief in the original version. You could just steal his sword and he lost all of his abilities.
They corrected that in the PSP version.
>>283588694
Its bulky, can heal itself, can attract your male mon, paralyze ya with stab body slam, and rollouts damage after turn 3 destorys most >21 pokemon.
That and you don't readily have access to any fighting types or fighting moves, so its a pain to deal with when you're probably only having a pigeotto, 2nd level starter, and shit party.
>>283589446
>you don't readily have access to any fighting types or fighting moves
You get a Machop in the same fucking city as her
>>283588951
You deal less damage, enemies deal a lot more, 3x increase in the prices of all items, 3x trap damage, insta-kill spells have a higher chance of killing you...
Hell, you can actually die in the very second fight of the game if the RNG is a bitch.
>>283589307
It was a mistake on my part. I fucked up the rotation of his weakness. He changes from being vulnerable to certain attack types. The other vwebm I actually have no clue what happened. People in /smtg/ said Mediarahan triggered it when I posted the full video.
>>283588476
>boss appears out of nowhere
>if you don't know that buffs are needed, you're screwed.
>you probably don't have force res demon unless you prepared beforehand, which takes away the difficulty of the fight.
>can still mess you up if rng is not on your side
>>283588091
I didn't have Fog Breath. The moment I learned it the fight was cake. I probably could have done it without it but really Fog Breath too good
>tfw getting past this only to realize it's the easiest vehicle section
>>283587972
>anything used Protect
>Slaking is loafing around!
>>283589584
Wait, so he's some sort of postgame boss?
Because on these, that kind of oneshot kill is okay if you indeed fuck up the rotation.
>>283588091
In most RPGs buffs aren't really prevalent.
I mean seriously who the hell uses buffs in most RPGs, Their really only useful in SMT games.
>>283589719
thats why i died the first two times.
>>283587846
I had a little trouble with him my first time. I didn't take any opportunities to level, so he got me pretty good.
>>283589879
That's true if the only RPG you've ever played was Final Fantasy since all that you do is mash attack
>>283589576
is this morefun?
>>283589325
>casual
>defending the hardest bosses in the game that are after you complete the story
You understand what casual means right?
>>283589382
>So you have to go grind
Lol nope. On Hard perhaps but on normal just use buffs.
>>283589879
Earthbound and Mother 3 had copious use of buffs and debuffs. Some of them are pretty great in Pokemon too.
this piece of shit
>>283589156
only way i could beat himon dark modewas to spam Aard to stun him, hit him twice, run around and repeat.without using quenwithout the special crafted gear
>>283590161
Go back to sadpanda threads
>>283589336
I never could beat him. No matter how many times I tried.
>>283590082
Not really, you just have to grind harder and be better prepared.
>>283589879
I buffed the fuck out of myself in Mother 3
>>283589339
>any of Fusion bosses
>hard
why
Obligatory,
>>283590402
I've never got through it without timestop.
>YOU CAN'T KILL IT ISAAC! IT'S JUST GONNA KEEP REGENERATING! GET OUT OF THERE, RUN!
OH SO NOW YOU TELL ME AFTER I'VE WASTED HALF MY AMMO AND STASIS
>>283590402
MM2 right? I don't remember that part being so bad.
>>283590384
They deal far more damage than bosses in the rest of the series.
Sonic 2 is the only game I didn't get all the emeralds on. This shit was hella gay.
>>283590154
He just wants everyone to go "yer so cool and badass anon that you think the optional bosses that are meant to give everyone a challenge are ezpz"
>>283589112
Mah nigga
Pic is my choice.
This nigga show up as a level 23 while your bitch ass still level 10. AND he guardin two chests so it ain't like you gonna ignore him.
>>283590340
I figured. I might try hard once I get more used to the fusions. Even with the chart its hard for me to build a good team. Im just constantly bouncing between the chart and the wiki trying to find a demon with a certain resistance, and fuck trying to figure out what spells its gonna have after a couple fusions.
>>283588476
>Rips my team a new asshole with that one attack
>Demi fiend is barely alive
>Use lunge cause im fucked anyway
>Its a crit
>He dies
>Then proceeded to get killed by the random encounters, and had to fight him all over again
>>283590217
it wasn't so toughafter patch
>>283587879
I pity everyone who is too casual to truly experience the comfy exploration of these games.
>>283590810I was afraid of that happening so I ran back and saved
>>283590217
Oh, vanilla Diablo II. We meet once again
>>283590176
>>283590363
>Mother
we were talking about RPG games, not hipsters' first game
How in the high fuck did he lose to Velstadt
>>283590589
you should figure it out yourself the first time you cut it's limbs off tbh
>>283591137
after Fume knight got wrekt'd he went traveling to become stronger and used the power of darkness from the shard of manus waifu. Veldstadt stayed near vendrick and slowly became hollow like him (though not at the same rate) so he actually became weaker
>>283587548
>casual filter
No, Yellow Devil is just straight up unavoidable damage and is a random roll as to whether or not you die. That is bad design.
>>283589879
I used them a lot in Mother and Etrian Odyssey games.
Also, I used to play competitive Pokemon a lot, so that got me really acquainted with the concept of buffs in turn based battles.
>>283591283
>bad design
>All_Megaman_games.jpg
>>283591249
Hindsight is 20/20, but when I first met him, I was freaking out. I thought he would go down eventually, like the RE4 regenerators.
>>283590764
I was so fucked in this, I benched this guy as soon as I could and didn't even both turning him into a force user.
>>283589657
But I did.
>>283589724
Fuck the planes
>>283591310
FUCK those ghost fairies.
I still need to get the good ending on that...
I always see casuals complaining about this guy.
>>283588758
Is it autistic if I only plays games on hardest difficulty even if it means more frustration/effort ?
>People had trouble with this guy
>Despite needing to do nothing but spam Agi.
Most of activities in Saints Row after level 4, shit's just gets batshit insane in difficultynot to mention the amount of levels for every activity is around 8-10
>>283591270
Makes sense i guess
Still a fucking pain though. Didn't help that I only found out after 5 pathetic tries that Velstadt's set gets him salty.
Oh, and these guys pre-patch
>>283589540
Do you not understand the meaning of "casual filter"?
>>283590853
FUCKING THANK YOU
I have beaten every MMZ except 1 because of this motherfucker. Why would they put a fight like that so early in the game?
>>283591363
>Mother and Etrian Odyssey
not really surprising considering EO is made by the same company that does SMT/Persona. You're right about Earthbound though, especially M3. Buffs are super useful in those games.
>>283591604
Most people didn't know you couldn't lose the fight and just use Mickey when they first played it. Hell I didn't at first.
Xigbar was way more annoying because of his square platform circle snipe shit.
>>283591190
i usually take this as a joke. but ive actually seen faggots here complain and quit because of the great jaggi. thats like people saying the first goomba in super mario bros is too hard and bullshit, which means the game sucks. /v/ is just terrible
>>283591692
>pre-patch
What changed? They still have infinite stamina and poise.
>>283590764
once i figured out you can just hide behind the bar and make a fucking meal in the time it takes atton to pierce through their shields, shit was ez
>>283591969
They don't swing as much anymore if you manage to get close enough.
Every other rage-inducing thing about them is still there, though
not rly a casual filter, because he was optional, but still hard as fuck
>>283587717
Never had a problem with her, never even had a Machop or rock type.
I don't get it.
>>283591283
> unavoidable damage
casual detected
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8RbPqqPrL_M
>>283591860
I seen a couple of anons who complained about the Jaggi's.
It's sad.
>>283591860
>implying "casual filter" means "super hard unstoppable final ultimate boss"
>implying it doesn't just mean a monster than may be relatively easy, but impossible for casuals
>>283589734
No pokemon that can use protect before you face him unless you get a swampert beforehand
>>283588339
If you have no fighting types you're screwed though
>>283592486
you're a casual if you don't attempt/defeat optional bosses
>>283592590
been playing through chronicles recently, FUCK medusa heads man
>>283592590
That and the fleamen.
fuck these faggots
>>283592286
>1600x900
oh shit nigger what are you doing
>>283589336
It's strange, I remember having a little trouble with him when I was younger, but when I came back to it years later he beat my ass.
>>283592672
if you like, but that still isn't what a casual filter is
traditionally they would actually filter them out from something. if they're an optional boss casuals aren't filtered at all, they go and happily complete the game without bothering with them
>>283590732
He was easy as fuck once you realize you can juggle shotguns all the way to him.
>>283592614
'sup
>>283590217
Fucking right.
Took me 11 times to kill him. Then I put the game away for a short break and forgot about it.
>>283590624
You're just not that good.
The actual game is the bonus stages.
The levels between are just filler.
>>283585517
I remember this asshole. I beat him after dying a few times but it was still annoying as hell. I would Noire from Neptunia is a pretty good casual filter, assuming the player doesn't look up how to beat her and whore out on the DLC content. Without those things you will get your ass handed to you.
>>283593141
... what?
>>283592926
e z
>>283593276
learns protect at 29.
>>283592614
>No pokemon that can use protect before you face him unless you get a swampert beforehand
I'm pretty sure I fucked him with a protect Pelipper or something
>>283590764
After my first play through every time I replayed, I would pre-stage this fight by laying a fuck-ton of mines around the bar.
>>283592926
Casual filter? Really?
For me it was when the van crashes through the bank and hell breaks loose
>>283590738

>"Man this Atelier game is piss easy even by JRPG standards."
>Suddenly this fucker shows up.
>>283593367
Oh. For some reason I assumed you were saying Aron was a solution to Whitney so I got confused.
Also in the original games he learns Protect at 16 if I'm reading the wiki right.
>>283589879
>Not using buffs in Baldur's Gate and NWN games
>Not turning your average fighters that sometimes hit sometimes miss and just act as meatshields into engines of rape and destruction with haste and a ton of +1 to rolls.
It says a lot about the game when buffs make no difference. None of it good.
>>283588260
FUCK THAT
>>283585517
This motherfucker from MH Freedom 2 and Unite. I mean, the whole game was fucking hard but this guy made people drop the game.

>>283590217
When this game first came out my computer was so shitty that he would kill me before the area even fully loaded.
>>283593604
I misread the wiki. ORAS he gets it at 16, original at 34. Pelipper is the way to go for the Protect method in the orginal, gets it at 25 still.
Aron can still tank those Slakings though.
>>283591137
strike damage op
>>283592907
8-3 is bullshit. You either have to get lucky enough to dodge the hammer bros or somehow stay big until the level and charge through
>>283593810
Wait, what?
>>283593896
Well that's certainly strange. You must be a GS or Lance main.
>>283593810
that's the first time I ever had to git gud in gaming
>>283585517
>turn-based RPG
>casual filter
>>283593024
Well yeah, but that requires not being a casual.
Pain is absolutely mandatory
>>283593810
>one of them is weak to cerberus
>telegraph attacks 9 years in advance
>shooting one of them keeps them from moving so you can focus on the other
Jesus, I mean maybe vergil 1 or the horse, but Agni and Ruda were one of the easier ones. Hells vanguard is more trouble than them.
i'm quite not getting it.
some of the guys i recognize in this thread are from advanced part of their games.
wouldn't be a casual filter placed near the beginning of the game?
then again, what kind of son of a bitch would do something like that, right?
honk
>>283594237
Don't knock it before you try it. Casuals don't typically play turn based RPGs to begin with.
>>283594370
Mirai is a faggot.
NGB was a nightmare.
>>283594370
>game where the first boss is harder then the last boss
why did an almost perfect game have to end on a shit note?
>>283594323
I never did that in middle school and so I decided to do it a few years ago back when I was in college and for some reason it wasn't too bad.
Casual filter definitely though, you have to have a guide for that shit.,
RIP Runescape
>>283594476
no, fuck you
>>283591014
oh the irony
I'd call anything below 4000 casual, and I would only consider things above 5000 to be high. I personally have a 63% ranked win rate so I'm still climbing.
>yfw so many on /v/ hate these games because they are shit at them
>>283591604
was struggling against him until i noticed i could stack the teleport buff to 9. was easy as shit after that
>>283594895
ASSFAGGOTs are the perfect demonstration of casual filter but not for the reason you think.
This whole level
>>283594806
The reason behind half the level design is kind of mean, too.
"We don't want kids to beat this over a weekend during a rental, so let's make that last level both horrifying and painful."
>>283594348
>having trouble with the horse
you're joking, right?
>>283590217
What? Duriel was a walk in the fucking park. Anyone who says otherwise is actually mentally retarded.
The real casual filter were the fucking lightning enchanted fucking scarabs in tight quarters.
>>283591283
the fucking worst casual; he doesn't even know he's a casual.
>>283591654
jeesus that game was so good.
Hear me out before everyone flips their shit. For anyone who doesn't know a thing about SMT this is the first boss to really kick your shit in.
>No weaknesses
>Heavy fire and physical attacks
>Chie is weak to half the attacks
>Can cause fear
>Summons the prince that can heal her, do damage, and silence people
>Also has no weaknesses
You can easily get to her by basically just rushing every fight, but if you don't know how to fuse or haven't figured out how to manage a character's weaknesses you can get killed within a few turns. Most enemies before her are just a matter of pounding on a weakness, but this is the first real fight where that doesn't work.
They made her piss easy in Golden though.
>>283591860
>Giving up at the Jaggi
I spent 4 attempts trying to kill a Duramboros, over the course of 3 hours. After the third attempt I used bombs and traps, knocked it down repeatedly with a vortex hammer, and still only had 3 minutes left. I wailed on the fucker in every section it ran to, but I still barely managed to kill it. I had no trouble initially, but god damn that thing takes forever to solo. Hell, I had less trouble with a Ralthos or Laggi, but god damn.
>>283590384

>>283588773

These could be prevented.
Shiva only pulls that shit off if you're retarded enough to get him to -3 and just hitting Vishnu once will skip his Chaturbhuja phase.
Though if it was the first time the player fought them, I'd understand.
More so if it was on Hard.

>>283595512
It's a really shame they full out casualized persona. Even in the original Persona 4, after Yukiko every boss was a lot easier. It's like a quarter of the way into development they decided to make everything easier.
Propeller knight
>>283595873
holy shit is sjokz still doing that lol gig? I watched seasons 2 and half of 3 and always wanted to stick it in her butt. Did anything ever come up about her whoring around the scene because that would make me sad

>>283595919
To be fair Shadow Kanji and Mitsuo were a pain in the ass.
Mitsuo took me like three tries, which normally wouldn't be so bad if the battle didn't last for so fucking long. But yeah, everything past Mitsuo is a cakewalk.
>>283596167
I don't really recall the Kanji fight too well, but I recall being surprised how much easier it was than Yukiko
>>283595884
Congratulations, you're not a casual then.
That is a casual filter though. Imagine if someone got to the boss and had never even tried to fuse something.
It'd be a bit of a shock.
>>283596034
>Shiva wasn't at -3
Well then what the actual fuck.
Maybe he gets more aggressive if you take too long killing him? I don't remember how my fight with Shiva went like other than I managed to win on my first try because I had beat Vishnu before hand, and Vishnu took a while until I figured out how he works.
I learned not to fuck with +3/-3ing the secret bosses after Michael, never again.
>>283596334
You can't even beat the mid-boss in that dungeon without fusing, Izanagi is shit after like level 7
>>283596269
Really?
Because the fight with Kanji was the one with Nice Guy and Tough Guy. The two extra minions who could do damage, heal, and even buff Shadow Kanji. All the while Shadow Kanji nukes you with physical and zio moves as well as poison and rage. And, in vanilla, none of them have weaknesses.
Shit's rough.
>>283594731
Makes sense when by the end of the game you have access to a shitton of abilities & upgrades. I wouldn't argue that Dark Murai is easier, but rather that you became more powerful than he did compared to the first fight.
>>283594370
/v/ misses the point. What else is new?
>>283596543
You can easily beat the mid-boss without fusing. You just buff and debuff, which Izanagi has.
You could still get past the mid-boss without even looking at the Velvet Room.
>>283595512
This boss was bullshit. If you don't take out the prince he stunlocks you, and if you aren't fast enough he buffs the shit out of her. On top of that, unless you get lucky, especially on hard mode, chie and yoskue can be pretty damn useless.
>>283596771
Ok, let's be serious, shadow Yukiko was a ramp-up in difficulty, but this isn't SMT we're playing here
>>283596417

>>283597008
