Life in The Zone is harsh but it's implied that the otherworldly discoveries that stalkers find are making the rest of the world a paradise.
semi-open world FPS, excellent ecological AI system that tracks a few thousand entities and has them make rational decisions that will ultimately change depending on your actions (whether someone lives or dies depends on who you killed many hours before and whether they were around to kill the guy later, for instance. S.T.A.L.K.E.R is an open world fps set int the Chernobyl exclusion zone in an alternate timeline where the nuclear incident and following events lead to the 'zone' being filled with mutant creatures and, most notably, 'anomalies': areas that pose great personal danger but also give birth to powerful 'artifacts'. Obviously, these artifacts become incredibly sought after and the zone, though under military control, becomes populated with 'stalkers' who seach for such artifacts and attempt to break into the centre of the zone, where more poweful anomalies are artifacts are sure to flourish.
It's really fucking good, though a little unpolished at points. he atmosphere is beyond incredible, however.

The graphics were a major part of why it was atmospheric. Therefore its atmosphere was unique. Whatever man

Despite shit games, Ubi does choose some damn good settings for these games
>Crusades
>Renaissance
>Fall of Constantinople
>American War of Independence (lel)
>Pirates?
Revolutionary France was probably the best one by far but the game just sucked

I also loved the twist withthe Order/WTO both being the same It was foreshadowed in the coffee shop side-quest, if you did it.
The glass-shatter mod was also nice, I missed it in my most recent stealth run of DX1.
IW black market augs are the best.

>two moons, both of which are in different phases, one having a waning crescent and the other appearing to have a waxing gibbous
>this indicates that they are both being illuminated from different sources but the sources only affect one moon each
>not only that but the moon with the waning crescent implies that the light source for that particular phase (high and up) should be high in the sky, meaning this image should be bright and not dark
>not some celestial phenomenon, just devs being too fucking lazy to phase their moons properly
>mfw
this triggers my autism like you wouldn't believe, unless that shit is some sort of lunar-lunar eclipse then you can consider me firmly rustled.

you wouldn't catch me dead buying a bioware game after the shit they pulled with TOR/ME3/DAI/DA2
>>281856923
you know what, I always knew I LIKED the half-life games and then I remembered why, they just really nailed the atmosphere.
Same thing with L4D and Portal, theyre kinda like the Pixar of video games in that they all have a very distinct story and appeal.
Too bad I legitimately fear for Valve as a company now because they havent made any new games in almost 6 fucking years. The massive jewery and general lack of progress on any game ever makes me feel like the old valve is gone

fucking dark citadel

>refusing to buy good games from the past because the developers recently fucked up
PS1 Doom completely changes the feel, all because of a soundtrack change.
>>281858742
if its good then I'll acquire through other means. but I'm not giving them another cent as long as I live

>Same thing with L4D and Portal, theyre kinda like the Pixar of video games in that they all have a very distinct story and appeal.
L4D2 was never quite as good as the first atmospherically.
I thought Bully was mostly comfy as fuck.
It had a great small town atmosphere. Also the soundtrack is GOAT.

Best Bully song coming through.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4MH8i2S-pT8
I'd sell my soul for a new Bully, assuming it isn't V-tier shit.
>>281858998
>EYE
>Just scifi
Not the best picture to get that across, to be fair.
Has a game ever made you feel more like a badass super soldier than Crysis?
>>281858998
A solid chunk of the game takes place in grungy cities where you deal with thugs and other lowlifes.
>>281833853
world of warcraft
Diablo 1 and 2. Perhaps WoW, but its also an MMO and was kinda what made MMOs have mass appeal / was everyones first MMO, so I assume naturally it should be immersive.
that being said Diablo 3 really fucking sucked in regards to atmosphere. what the fuck happened blizzardI would say Path of Exile lacks immersion too mainly because I couldnt give a fuck about the story / lore

right but what would be great would be a specific kind where you get very paranoid about being found. less shooting and more "i just comitted a crime and i've been hiding here for 7 hours" . i need food can i go into town. like that
obviously half-life 2 is a shooter but it had that highway 17 segment
>>281858917
Thats why I didnt list it
Like I said, valve scares me
>>281859335
Ok...this is gonna sound really fucking stupid...but hear me out...
Garry's Mod DarkRP server with hunger.

>Like I said, valve scares me
Remembering the leaked photos of Source 2 (remakes of L4D2 levels) and what they've said on HL3 they MIGHT have something in the works.
IF they ever release Source 2 L4D3 will almost certainly be their flagship game.
>>281859335
>right but what would be great would be a specific kind where you get very paranoid about being found. less shooting and more "i just comitted a crime and i've been hiding here for 7 hours" . i need food can i go into town. like that
Maybe try one of the open world RPGS with a massive bounty?
