I mean, the music they announced isn't much to get hyped for, but it's still weird to see them come back after almost 2 years.
>>
>>279198163
Didn't most of rhytm games get their entire dlc libraries purged some time ago?
>>
>>279198334
Guitar Hero did for sure, but you've always been able to browse Rock Band's DLC catalog.
>>
I was just thinking the other day if they'd ever try to revive rock band/guitar hero
>>

>>

DJ Hero as well.
>>

How about no
>>
what's the point?
western rhythm games are dead and i doubt a burst of dlc from 3 artists will bring people back
>>
This would be cool if I still loved Foo Fighters or had the desire to take out the drumset. I may turn the 360 on again and play on Blitz if they release anything I like though (pls new wave or post-punk).

Normally I'd ignore these songs but this is a special case so I could justify getting this one.

>>
>>279199581
PS3bro here, is jailbreaking the only way to get custom songs? I use my PS3 online a lot for fighting games so I wouldn't want to take too big of a risk for something that might not last too much longer. My drums are falling apart and I have my red pad rewired inside and it retaped together, I have to hold it up with my knee to play effectively.
>>
>>279199924
I don't know about PS3, but for 360 you only need a USB stick and a program called Party Buffalo to put the songs on the USB, the same might apply to PS3 but I'm not sure
>>
I guess with most of their big projects either finished or dead (RIP Chroma) they decided to give RB a little love. I doubt we'll ever get a full sequel but something like DC Spotlight would be nice, if only to improve the engine or make it possible for guitar, bass, and keys to be playable online at once.
>>
>Shepard of Fire
Oh fuck. I've been waiting for a custom of it, but looks like Harmonix is on top of it.

Fucking love them. I'll have to renew my Gold though in order to do it, sadly. I think.
>>
>>279200735
No, you can buy stuff from the Marketplace without an XBL membership.

You only need it to play online. I never play Rock Band online.

I never got this. Games can already read your transaction history, especially with the Xbone/PS4. Ubi even transferred data cross-generation between their AC games, mainly for multiplayer, even if you didn't sign up for uPlay.
>>

DLC is the lifeblood of these games, moreso in Rock Band's case.

Does anyone else feel like Rocksmith's out-of-left-field success, even on next-gen, prompted Activision to consider reviving Rock Band?
>>
>>279202837
i don't think the two are really comparable
rocksmith is a learning aid and rockband is a party/music game
>>
>>279202816
Songs and some cosmetics honestly Its really nice to pop it in for a party and have all the songs on one game. I miss Rock Band
>>
>>279202385
Not bad, just really really generic.
>>
>>279202816
Unfortunately not. It was basically for Black Flag. "Did you play Brotherhood/Revelations/3's multiplayer? Here's a little charm thing."

Also why the fuck is captcha asking me what things are bananas, I'm not a robot goddamn
>>
If they ever came out with a Rock Band 4, what do you think it would be like?
>>
>>279201185

If they do make a new Rockband, I can guarantee you'll be paying for the same songs again.

1. They're jews.

2. Most of the music needs to be re-liscensed again before Harmonix can sell it.

Harmonix isn't owned by Actvision.

In fact, Harmonix quit making DLC nearly 2 years ago shortly after buying themselves out of Viacom's ownership when Viacom decided to sell them, they bought themselves out instead of being sold off to shit like Activision or EA.

My guess is that buying themselves basically killed their budget too much to continue DLC at the time, and now they can finally continue.
>>
>>279203419
What else could they possibly add

EA didn't own them either, Viacom did under their MTV label.

Rock band a really good DLC scheme going on
If you bought rock band 1 and wanted to play those songs on rock band 2 or 3 you could buy a key that lets you put all the songs onto the disc, it was like £2, and while I don't like that you had to for that it wasn't that much and you can pick up rock band 1 for filth cheap.
All DLC songs from rock band 1 and 2 could be played on rock band 3 too.

And I'm not about to drop $100 on a piece of plastic, especially when it might be getting replaced, that's for sure.

I think that with Guitar Hero gone, now's a great time to bring back Rock Band. Harmonix doesn't have to worry about this arms race to get a new game out every year, and they can focus on just having the instruments and base game available, with a focus on building up Rock Band as a platform for buying new songs rather than having to keep releasing new games all the time. As long as people can easily buy the game and instruments, that's what matters.

This game was a fucking masterpiece
That Hoffner bass is god tier.
>>
>>279198163
It would make sense for harmonix to breath some life back into rockband since they have zero competition. I got well over 500 songs downloaded because rockband is really a cool karaoke machine with great songs that plays the master track instead of a shitty midi version.

That being said, the pessimist in me say that it's just a contractual obligation that got forgotten and nothing more.
>>
If they brought the franchise back, especially on Steam, I would be ecstatic

It would be pointless to release a new Rock Band really, what would they add? They can just add new songs as DLC.
>>
>>279201185

I know how that feels, but I am not willing to throw down $300+ USD on an Xbone. I'd rather they make versions for past gens while making one for the new gen.

Or at least make a Rock Band for PC, hell I almost wouldn't mind if they slap on the whole GFWL thing on it as long as I can get my tracks

There's going to be a whole new market of kids who never had a PS3/360 soon, and making a new game instead of DLC allows them to cater to this market.

Not to mention that the instruments are impossible to find these days. They need an excuse to put more instruments out there every few years, because the ones people have sometimes break or someone new wants to get into the game but needs instruments. It's a supply and demand situation that they need to find the right balance with-- it was near impossible to back when there were so many different companies pumping out plastic guitars, but now I think the market is right for a slow but steady production line for plastic guitars.

Its cheaper to buy the first game with cable for consoles or pc than the standalone cable. You can then buy the import tool to get 50 songs from the old game to the new one.
>>

Been playing guitar for 8 years too, and I love the absolute shit out of these games. If you go into it thinking it's in any way comparable to the real thing, you're setting yourself up for failure. They're just fun music games where you push buttons on a plastic guitar to cool music. If you can't get behind a music game with a neat controller where the appeal is trying to beat your high scores, then it's just not for you.

I'll admit these games actually really helped me out when I transitioned to the real instrument by making my fingers more responsive and able to form chord shapes much easier. I took a guitar class in high school and noticed that I was the only person there whose fingers weren't in agonizing hell when we first started.

Good news.

I really think that they should bring back the franchise.

The genre should have never died. It was the rape of Guitar Hero that made everyone panic.

Rock Band had the right idea even though I loathe DLC. That's how you handle a franchise like Rock Band. Release one game every once in a while and release songs as choice DLC or in packs. Just like I-Tunes or whatever else.

Couldn't believe it when a friend of mine got the next one. I'd google it but there's no reason to. It was so bad.

Activision should never be forgiven for how they truly fucked up the whole genre.

I'd like a proper lobby/matchmaking system so I don't have to resort to the DLCquickplay website.
Better singleplayer campaign, fuck spades
Bring back proper CPUs (I remade Sir Thomas after they showed him in some pre-release screens but he was never in the game)
Don't have fans exclusively tied to goals, but to playing the game and songs.
Bring back multiple band per profile (PS3)
Bring back standing in to help others on their campaign
Completionist is obtainable without Pro Guitars

Shit a lot of stuff can be fixed for RB4 by just bring back features from RB2.
