Yes actually. What use is all the polish the second game gave if it removed all the fun shit like combining lift and throw on threatening Krogan in open scape environments by putting up fucking retarded armour restrictions and making all non-armoured enemies weak as fucking glass? What's the point of weapon mods if I can't do anything fun with them like make fucking gatling lasers that don't need to be reloaded or turn my sniper rifle into the Schwerer Gustav, complete with the reload times and the power. What's the point of having a fucking vehicle in the game if I can't be out in open fire with it for more than two seconds or knock gigantic get armatures into lava pits by smashing into them head-first? Why even have squad members if they can't hold their own like Wrex could in ME1?
It may have been smoothed out but the gameplay was utter boring trash. I'd rather have my bumpy glitchy wacky fun combat over a clinically sterile Gears clone.

No, actually. Mass Effect has clunky, tedious, and, eventually, boringly easy combat. Do you actually enjoy fighting identical enemies that shout "enemy is everywhere" and "go,go,go" all the time? Because that is pretty much all ME1 is. ME2 has varied enemies, a cover system that works extremely well, consistent difficulty, no bullet sponge enemies (aside from a few bosses), weapons that actually play differently, and rewards shifting playstyles. I actually can't really understand how someone could prefer ME1's combat. I've played both 1 and 2 probably 10 times each and the combat is what keeps me from going back to ME1 again.

ME 1 got hard at parts because of how shit the systems in place were. Surviving a battle didn't feel very satisfying.
ME 2 polished a lot, but ended up never being hard, no matter what difficulty you played or or party composition you had. ME 3 had this same problem.

ME2 as Adept or Vanguard on Insanity can actually beinsanelyhard at times. Vanguard on Insanity is probably one of the most enjoyable experiences of my gaming life. It really forced you to quickly adapt and change your tactics as a battle progressed and had a large high risk-high reward aspect attached to it.
That's another thing I really liked about ME2, the classes all feel unique. Every class feels pretty much the same in ME1 other than Adept. Playing as a Vanguard in ME1 felt no different to playing as a Solider other than having access to a few biotics. In ME2 they are massively different.
