I'm making a TF2 map that is heavily inspired by JSR's style. It's a Kart Racing map with a built in radio system, among other things. I'm currently working on textures, and about 90% of the work is done. The actual map still has dev textures, so I'm not ready to show that aspect yet. I do have a logo to share.

Steam version is pretty awesome. Higher resolution, solid controller support and the (unofficial) ability to import graffiti art from other sources really adds to the gameplay.
My biggest complaint is that they took out all the nu-metal tracks from my favorite level (pic-related), even though they're still in the game and play through the previous stage. Don't get me wrong, the instrumental tracks they put in place are great, but if I'm jumping through Times Square spraypainting attack helicopters until they crash into buildings, I want my goddam Professional Murder Music and Cold.

Camaera might have been bad on Dreamcast, but I've never played it. On PC you have direct camera control with the right stick and it works perfectly fine.
Walljumps and grinding are also great if, again, you aren't a casual. You have to actually LEARN how to use them, and the game isn't great about teaching you, but once you know it's perfectly fair and not even hard.

Future is streamlined as fuck. Some people don't like it but I love it. You are fast. You can speed up doing one button combos (quick or slow) rhytmically on rails. If you have at least 10 spray cans (there are tons of it everywhere compared to the original) you can burn them and activate an afterburner on your skates. Spraying is just pulling the right trigger so you can tag while sliding on rails or running from the cops. You can even "powerslide" on your skates on any flat surface so you don't even need to stop to paint something.

JSRF is pretty different, there's no escalating police presence as you tag things, so no routing strategy against the time limit, it's more about exploring and just figuring out how to get to each of the tagging spots. Also there's lots of long automatic grinds to easily traverse the levels, which is convenient but less rewarding
it's cool though, has a different style and feel, music is less funk more noisy electronic

JSR is closed levels kinda like Tony Hawk with only 2 minutes/time limit. Future has some bigger levels and is more open world in that you don't have a timer for most missions unless they're story based and you can go from zone to zone as you please (barring some story things).
They're both great games if you're into this stuff. I'll be patiently waiting for Future to be ported until the day I die.

There's police in JSRF too, but they're just scripted encounters, they don't hound you around the level like in JSR.
In general, JSRF focuses on freely exploring the rather open world instead of JSR's arcadey time attack gameplay, despite being a direct sequel it's a very different beast. I like both in their own ways
