But with CoD, what sort of changes are made in each game? Different campaigns and guns? You're wrong though. If you compare gen 2 to gen 1, two new types (dark and steel) were added and the special stat was split into specially attack and special defense. Gen 3 added double battles, natures and abilities, gen 4 added the physical/special split (pretty important addition, it makes the older games much harder to play now). Gen 5 added wild double battles, triple and rotation battles, and gen 6 added the new type fairy and horde battles.

Let me show you the truth about your "50 to 100 new Pokemon".
Most of them are just pre-evolved states that amount to nothing more then different artwork, since keeping a Pokemon in a pre-evolved state has absolutely no benefit you will evolve every single one. This drastically cuts down the number of actual Pokemon in any given game.
That's not even taking into account the fact that some of them are so garbage you would never even think about using them.
