You get something called "Gamble Draw" That lets you shoot an extremely powerful arrow that you manually aim.
It's probably the best attack in the game for hitting pinpoint weak spots like Dragon hearts and Cyclops eyes.
Remember to equip blast arrows when you use it to make it feel like a missile.

Get to gran soren and immediately switch to Sorcerer.
Play up to lvl 50 or 100, whatever you want. Get the magic boosting augment.
Switch to mage and max out that vocation and purchase that magic boosting augment.
You now have MAX POWER as a magic character.
If you want to play a more block centric MK. Consider getting the Prescience augment from the fighter vocation.

With the best mace in the game, you end up dealing about 100 less damage than a Warrior with the max level greatswords/hammers. Keep in mind you're still hitting with the sword moveset, so basically you're dealing greatsword level damage at a ridiculously high rate. Stack Abyssal Anguish on top of that and you become fucking invincible

They're optional. You actually have to go all the way north to some far off tower to collect a special item and bring back to the duke to continue the story.

The wyrm hunt quests are what you want to do to progress the main story. Some of your side quests will auto fail if you don't complete them by certain points in the main quest though. Not much you can do about it if you can't play at your own pace though.

Mystic Knight is great. The spells are pretty situational though and a lot of them only pay off if you have prep time in a battle to set them up properly. I play my MK more physical oriented and just no nuts in melee combat after buffing myself, then drop the occasional Stone Forest (earthquake type spell) to take out physical immune enemies or stun big monsters. I rarely use any of the more popular spells like Great Cannon since they're so boring to actually use.
Don't ever play mage if you want to be a pure caster, upgrade to Sorcerer. It's basically the same thing but more offensive oriented and it has all the best and flashiest spells in the game.

Small fights are okay, but they do boil down to "knock enemy down, wail on them". Still, the whole crowd control and keeping your pawns alive thing keeps it pretty fun. I got through some rough bandits by playing smart, which felt nice.

You need to rest at an inn for your pawn to get updated, but yes he'll randomly show up in other people's rift of the same level as your pawn when you last updated him.
It only cost RC for higher lvl pawns.

Yes. There's actually a shortcut just south of Gran Soren that'll take you just outside that rest camp past the dragon. But it's some mines of Moria bullshit where you need to take out three ogres (or just one or two if you don't want to permanently clear out the place of enemies).

Yeah I got through that, but I left all the ogres alive because I didn't think I was even doing damage to them. I'm unsure why I actually tried fighting the dragon, I guess I just wanted to take him down, and I assumed he was part of the fort fight due to all the goblins that are around him.
