Why isn't anybody talking about this game? It looks really awesome. About to pull the trigger
Nobody likes it, /v/ has done nothing but dump on it, save your money, invest in pork futures, and have good night.
The whole realtime out-of-combat thing is really annoying, holy fuck.
>position everyone perfectly
>combat starts
>people scatter out of cover
Fucking bitch shot my goat
It lacks the pretty vibrant colors of Divinity Original Sin to grasp people's attention. Also, Fallout notwithstanding, post-apocalypse is hardly mainstream for video games.
It looks like a good XCOM
I've been wanting to play a good CRPG, but the way XCOM calculated cover/line of sight was dumbfuck retarded and literally made me stop playing the game
I like the Fallout scenario too, so there's a bonus.
Why the fuck is this 22GB though?
>>265252807
My only complaint is how few bullets there are.
It feels like I'm struggling just to get through a few fights and ammo is way too expensive.
>>265252939
Overall breddy gud game.
But this guy has a point. At way to enter combat to position better before engaging would be neat.I'm in Damonta, how the fuck do I save Binh? I had Rose do computer shit on the big computer but when I do it on the smaller one Binh dies. When I try to engage Tinker after half health Binh explodes. Halp
So I have a store bought PC with an on board GPU. Would I be able to play Wasteland 2?
I've never played a overhead rpg game like this before, should I start with Wasteland 2 or should I start with one of the older Fallout games?
>>265253105
>Divinity: Original Sin
>Wasteland 2
Good haul so far. Shame Shadowrun wasn't better.
>>265253182
I haven't had many problems getting into combat positions before fighting starts so far.
I'm not very far in the game so maybe it becomes an issue later.
>>265253181
I don't know about the harder difficultiescause my first run is on easy like a bitchbut I am swimming in ammunition, once you save Ag Center or Highpool go back to Ranger Citadel and talk to the munitions dude in the base. Set up a deal to bring in broken weapon parts with him and make sure you have someone with weaponsmithing.
One 50x stack nets about 700 scrapOn easy cause kek.
>>265253181
Bullets and even rockets and explosives are bountiful after Ag Center / Highpool. You get so much money that it is easy to afford anything and everything for your whole team, especially bullets in the hundreds for each ranger. It just seems like the game will be a tight knit resource manager at the very itty bitty beginning of the game.
>>265253142
>I've been wanting to play a good CRPG, but the way XCOM calculated cover/line of sight was dumbfuck retarded and literally made me stop playing the game
WL2 is, a lot of times, way worse than Xcom:EU when it comes to cover making sense
>>265253326
It just sucks getting just barely within range of the enemies sight range or having them walk towards you just before you get a preemptive shot off.
shit aesthetics
shit UI
feels clunky
shit engine that takes way too much performance
Other than that the game is pretty good.
>>265253142
Just be prepared that XCOM has better combat than WL2. I wasn't expecting a game of tactical depth such as X-COM, but you know the game has shit combat when even XCOM has it beaten.
>>265253142
XCOM is a SRPG, though. Combat is all it's about. Closer comparison would be Fallout Tactics, as opposed to Wasteland 2 being closer to Fallout.
I like how actions feel "weighty". Like your fuckups will come back after a while.
But the random lockpick/hack/safecrack bullshit is idiotic and shit. It would be better as pure "you need to have this much skill to pass" or having loot scaled to skill.
Companions going rogue system is bad. Most of the time they go rogue when you're trying to plonk shit with your sniper from a safe spot.
>>265253392
Shit.
Does it also have retarded shooting through gigantic obvious walls and enemies not "activating" until you discover them? Because that was just mega shit
>>265253291
probably the more important thing is that no kickstarted rpgs have really failed. even shadowrun was mediocre at worst and improved immensely with the dlc.
>>265253352
I just finished the rail nomads camp and havent seen any rockets or explosives outside of shops
and 80% of my money goes into bullets, which each ranger has only a few dozen each.
where do you get all this money and supplies?
>>265253352
Well that bit at the start is pretty rough.
I do really like it so far though, but man.
I just feel spread so thin.
I feel this way about my teammates too, it's hard getting all the things I feel I NEED as is.
Stats, skills, ammo and such.
If I end up swimming in resources and stuff that would be fine too.
>>265253340
I'm on the third difficulty.
Does difficulty change the amount of money you get or something?
>>265253573
well I havent encountered shooting through walls, but I have encountered my bullets hitting invisible walls around certain objects
>game has sniper rifles for long distance combat and zone control
>every single enemy has enough speed to run from the end of the map into the engagement zone of your rangers
WHY? This defeats the whole purpose of even having a sniper on your team. In b4 "but you can use it to snipe guys from a distance to engage combat for a slight advantage". Yes, while this is true, you can also do it with a modded Assault Rifle with increased range so that it acts like a Sniper, but is still the better overall weapon because fuck Assault Rifles are OP.
>>265253573
When a fight starts, all enemies in immediate area enter it, even if they're quire far.
From what I can tell, if an attack roll succeeds, it hits, no questions asked. It's only when it doesn't causes shit to happen - usually friendly fire.
>>265253786
What I do is tell my Sniper to Ambush.
Also high ground and such if possible.
My Sniper has felt pretty important because of ambushing.
I'll be damned if I can figure out how to make shotguns great though.
shotgun, blade, blunt are fucking shit
go for submachine gun and energy weapon
also enemy has too many fucking AP on their first turn
>>265253643
What difficulty?
On medium explosives are quite rare, but not "one use ultra artifact" rare, just "megaelixir" rare (so if you don't use them, you'll end up with 99x of them).
>>265253857
Jackhammer with a full choke
How is the story in this game? At least on par with Fallout-NV or Fallout 3? I have trouble keeping up with games if they are just mindless head-clicking like Borderlands 2 or something
>>265253984
medium. how does difficulty affect drops? more or less on higher difficulties?
also I do remember getting 2 grenades from saving that indian girl in highpool, but that wasnt really a drop or anything
>>265253723
I encountered a couple cases of permeable walls
>>265254039
Avelone wrote it.. so yeah good writing
>>265253552
>as opposed to Wasteland 2 being closer to Fallout.
Not true at all, btw. WL2 is 90% combat and 10% exhausting dialogue options for exposition dumps. There's no excuse for the game to have such bare bones combat given how much of it there is. It doesn't even compare to Fallout since Fallout has a ton of skill checks and builds and solutions that take place out of combat, aren't combat focused and can be used to avoid combat. WL2 only has Outdoorsman which can be used to avoid random encounters on the map, otherwise nearly every single skill has something to do with combat. All the trap disarm skills, electronics etc. may have a few uses for some alternative quest solutions, but the main usage for them is to get more loot like guns and bullets to do more killing.
>>265252807
It needs mod support ASP. The game in its current state is bland, but still enjoyable.
>>265254039
its an rpg, so story is a decent focus.
also this is a turn based strategy game, there cant be any 'mindless head clicking'
>>265254106
difficulty levels only affect enemy reistances
and damage for your rangers
items and experience dont change
>>265252807
>Nobody likes it, /v/ has done nothing but dump on it
All the threads I've been in haven't been dumping on it. They've been pointing out the series of flaws the game has balanced out by what is good about it. It's always been a mixed bag. Personally as a backer I would give the game a 6 or a 7. The combat is a chore, which is a problem in a game with so much combat and no stealth, but the rest of the game play is good.
>>265254190
I know, it was just a more obvious example
It looks like this is worth the shot, thanks guys
>>265254039
Nope.
>>265253857
I like my sniper as well, but my AR guy can function the exact same as him, but requires less AP than the sniper. It's just stupid, pointless design. But that seems to be the running theme for WL2's design.
>team has a meele blade character
>ag center
fuck this shit
>>265254106
I'm also playing on medium.
Had like 4 maulers (or however are the first rocket launchers named) by the end of Highpool. I sold them because I didn't know how much they wreck shit.
>>265253634
Shadowrun returns was simple but I liked the hiring system and the leveling. Also the classes all had neat abilities and shit. I haven't gotten that far into Dragonfall though.
Played for a little bit, got super bored, uninstalled.
Same goes for Divinty: OS too... Super slow and boring, to be honest.
>>265254170
electronics can be used to hack robots in battle
mechanics can be used to repair critical failures on safes boxes
but yeah the only skill checks in conversations are the "Ass" ones
>>265254340
I think I got a stinger near the first radio tower, then nothing after that
UI and camerawork is shit.
Other than that it's a pretty damn good game.
>>265253291
dragonfall is one of my favorite games in the last few months.
>>265254416
and perception kind of, though you can 'brute force' it
>>265254365
wtf is going on in that gif
this game needs .....
special attacks for higher level battle skills
PERKS
more attack animations
more attack sounds
better camerawork bigger fonts sheesh
What's the fucking point of allowing me to say whatever the fuck I want to NPCs but not having them respond appropriately? I thought I was in for some facade shit but turns out it's pointless.
>>265254416
>mechanics can be used to repair critical failures on safes boxes
Shit are you serious? I'm already on my 15th hour or something and I didn't know about this.
STOP THE SHITPOSTING
STOP THE SHITPOSTING
Hey OP these fuckers are probably Larian shills that try to get you away from buying this gem. It's literally 10/10 compared to 8/10 Div:OS or 9/10 Shadowrun: Dragonfall. It's literally all you could ever want form a post apo game. I highly recommend it. Most of the threads on /v/ are praising it sky high it's just the pathetic yuropoors that have yet to understand it's magnificence.
>>265254373
Why would you even buy it if you don't like RPGs of this sort, then?

>>265254859
He's not. Divinity held the top spot on Steam sale chart for like a month straight and it went against DayZ and some other fad of the week bullshit.
>>265254691
I loved the older FO games, this one isn't very good at all.
>>265254859
There's literally nothing to see anymore. DivOS was #1 steam seller for nearly two months without dipping down ONCE, WL2 dropped out of first place after the first day and has since then slowly gone down, being at #4 now. They broke even with WL2 so from now on it's profitable, but it will hardly be the success story that DivOS was.

Except for non-shitty out of combat controls.
And for the part where you have to redistribute weighty junk all the time.
And retarded random chances on skill use.
And idiots walking into uncovered mines.
And many annoyances.
Similarly to Div: OS, W2 is a gem with as many flaws as it has facets.
>>265255209
>Similarly to Div: OS, W2 is a gem with as many flaws as it has facets.
probably because mainstream isn't its target audience, but genre enthusiasts who can overlook these issues if the game itself is good. which it largely is.
>>265252807
Pirate it and see if it grabs you. Devs definitely deserve your dosh.

This, I remember back when every RPG was a bug riddled piece of shit, but I still loved them. CTDs were just something that just came with video games for me.

Rail Cutter's Camp is fucking ginormous.
Hollywood is also pretty good, but it's on the small side. It has just as many quests as Rail Cutter though. Rodia is a comfortable middle.

-Dialogue has the talk options gimmick, but it's written as if you're expected to click every talk option in a row, so there's really nothing personified about it. You either click on every dialogue in order from left to right or you get confused in the conversation.
-Walk 20 seconds. Load. Walk on overworld. Random encounter. Load. Fight. Load. Overworld. Load. New area. Load. Overworld. Load. Load. Load. Load. Load.
-There is just generally no ergonomics applied to the interface or even controls. (Right click to move order, but hold down right click and you rotate camera...)
-The view perspective wants to give me a headache. You are zoomed in too much by default and it resets to this default after every load screen. When zooming out, the camera turns into top down perspective gradually, so you're always painfully limited in sight.

Anyone else run into the Provost? I ran into him near the derelict radio tower at Rail Nomad's. He was stranded out near a minefield. He randomly joins you in combat, and follows you around even when you leave the area. If you try to talk to him he'll spew out some latin. This is a little offtopic but please bear with me for a second, I played this game for about an hour and honestly fell in love with it, and after browsing a few threads about it on /v/ I've decided to also check out Divinirty Original Sin. Shadowrun Returns and the newer xcom games, are there any other games of this genre that I should check out? Thank you for your recommendation in advance
Is it just me or does the game actually force you to min-max the fuck out of your characters and make each of them into a fucking autistic savant for a very narrow and specific use. I've been stuck at the character creation screen for the past hour now, trying to decide how to make my characters not completely useless besides those one or two things they do, and trying to anticipate which skills might be more useful in the long run since fuck if anyone ever gave me advice on that, and it's just driving me crazy. Somehow, I never had that problem with any Fallout game, or even the first Wasteland. It's like they deliberately made the character creation just to piss people off.
At least the writing is semi-decent.
I'm enjoying the character and combat descriptions.
My biggest problem so far is that solving the rail conflict is easy as fuck.
As long as you don't let Ralphy drown and disarm the tin can bomb on the girls bike, you literally don't need to do anything else.
>>265268290
>the elder gods ?
Runescape Torment, Baldurs Gate, Fallout 1-2
>>265268260
Well on my first run I played on Ranger and toad was a problem because I didn't recruit Angela and didn't really invest much in combat stats.
On a subsequent run on Seasoned (which is what the devs recommend) it was a complete stomp with it not even reaching my party.
Thinking about doing a kill everyone run and my team is nothing but ARs, how fucked am I?
>>265268304
I'll help you out.
Each character needs at least 3 skill points per level, 8 action points, and 13 combat initiative( DO NOT IGNORE THIS STAT)
Each character should get 3 skills.
1 weapon skill
2 utility skills.
The off the bat important skills are
Lockpick
Medic
Computer
Surgery
Demolitions
Perception
Most other skills are pretty niche, but picking up safe-cracking and alarm disarm won't kill you.
Luck is a useless skill.
Weapon skill plays the vast majority for crits.
Do not increase CHA beyond 4.
Assault Rifles are by far the best weapons in the game.
>>265268304
You have to focus them on a field and use the npcs to make up for your weaknesses.
This game is like Icewind dale you have to have a well focused group and fight as a team, no bullshit chosen one faggotry like dragon age.
For my team I have.
Leader-8int for more sp, ldsp, all 3 cha skills.
Scout/DM-10ap, demo, alarm disarm, outdoors.
Thief-10ap, lockpick, safe crack, brute.
Mechanic-9ap, toaster, mech repair, weaponsmith.
Got Rose from Ag center for the team medic and did badger cave early for lv17 chinese warrior.
Also you need ldsp skill to stop the ai from going rogue, quite a few times they run into mobs and die in 1 round.

Luck is a skill you don't want to fuck over for more cp.
Low luck makes you more prone to crit fails and weapon jamming.
Charisma is for social shit but also increases all xp gains so now charisma means you level up way slower.
>>265268768
If you want a good build, than you need 1LCK, 1 CHA.
Luck is EASILY managed out by mods.
Cha just makes you level up a little slower, which is no problem, since the game throws massive amounts of XP at you.

What things? I can't remember much from playing the first one since it's been fucking forever.

But if you wanted to fuck with the saves as another anon said then you can but to me that seems like being a massive pussy and not dealing with system and restrictions.

Why can't I just zoom out? Why can't the default camera actually let me see what's in front of me? This is SO BAD that I'm actually considering giving up on a game that I'm otherwise having fun with just because I feel like i'm literally fighting against the camera all the time.

Thanks for the info. I've spend some time in the general, as well as reading other places, and I think I've got a well-rounded starting team figured out. Now, one thing that I didn't find much info on is whether it's possible to boost stats in some ways, for example through implants or specific gear like in Fallout. It still pains me to make characters with less than average intelligence just so that they could be decent at other things, but hey, if I need to have a team of retards to make it work, what can I do.

Is there even a point in giving your chars any other weapons than assault rifles? So far they seem to outclass everything else so much it's not even funny. It's the same as in the new Shadowrun, where an AK makes you an unstoppable killing machine.
>>265271304

The game has 20GB of unity 3d map files that can compress to like 30-50% of their normal size. For example, just the Arizona world map alone is like 1 gigabyte uncompressed.
>>265273327
Where does the last 25% begin? I haven't run into many glitches at all, sometimes dialogue seems to bug out a bit but that's about it. And one time an enemy got stuck spinning in circles without using any AP so I had to load a save because I never got a turn.
Game has some issues and is a bit janky but overall I think it is pretty good after the 30 or so hours I have spent with it.
It is nowhere near as bad as /v/ likes to say but it also isnt as good as most damage control people aay either. As with all things the truth lies somewhere in between.

>>I'll be damned if I can figure out how to make shotguns great though.
You use multiple shotguns on one character to not bother with reloading.
The great thing about shotguns is that they use very little AP and you can get many hits within 9-10 points.
Flintlock pistol and overunder carry early and mid game if you combine them with another shotgun for when they run out of ammo. My dedicated shotgun user could get 4 AOE shots that way and then 3 in the following ones and that was easily more damage output than AR could do.
Then shotguns sort of fall appart because everything is armored and they deal like no damage until you get jackhammer or spas (spas is shitty though). I still carry a second shotgun to use up all the ap though.
Jackhamemr is scariest fucking weapon in the game when it comes to crowd control.
But brawling is the most absurdly broken and overly powerful shit in the game. Seriously, who thought that 600 damage per turn is a good idea.

Rodia was fairly good because you at least had some ways to fuck around and a choice to weaken the enemy before fight (or just work for them).
In hollywood things started to fall appart for me because 1) failing quest completions 2) double quest items 3) game not being able to handle what i do 4) obvious quest solutions not implemented 5) decrease in dialog quality

Yeah the characterisation in Dragonfall directors cut is very good. Its like a gibson novel for babbies
>>265252807
Worth a pirate if you have absolutely nothing else better to do, including punching yourself in the nuts, like with any kickstarter game its all promise over delivery.
It's half baked at best, I doubt it will be "fixed" seeing as this is kickstarter and this is what you paid for.
X-com is better, Shadowrun is better, Divitnity is better, they could have done better with this game.

RNG
How do people write biographies?
It's so hard, anytime I try to write something as soon as I read it back I cringe and delete it.
>>265252807
Because its terrible. The whole thing feels like a chore and combat is 100% rng based, if you land your shots you kill everything super easilyif not the fight drags for 30 minutes which also causes you to lose all your ammo which is scarce as fuck.
In harder difficulties, everything hits more than you, never misses and enemies usually out number you.
For some reason all mobs can run long distances so just in one turn you get them in your face nulifying any strategy you could had came up with. specially the stupid rabbits.
Overall its pretty bland

The ranger base
I've been playing it, up to the Valley of Titan. Enjoying it a lot so far. Started a new save to make a better squad, just caught back up last night.
I think a lot of the typical issues /v/ spout off about the game stem from not playing it long enough or not playing correctly. Almost exactly like Morrowind.
>why does my shit keep jamming
>I miss too much
>my characters die too often
Dump points into wep skills, use gun upgrades, and strategically position your squads, and the game is suddenly 1000x more enjoyable.
>mfw flipping the turtle and following for that shit stash
Sure is fun having to restart my computer every few hours because the game starts running like shit.
>>265278534
Well mine is around 65% and by the next turn something will walk near it forcing me to wastea whole turn
>>265278671
Doesn't happen to me.
>>265278671
You can't be serious. What could it possibly ever be doing that is solved by restarting the computer but not by just restarting the game.
>>265278535

why not just climb down next to it?
>>265278463
Don't get suppressed (a bit harder to do early on due to all the shitty melee enemies, but shotguns are there for that), have a leadership bonus, use right weapons for right distances (rifles and snipers can't shoot point blank!)
Sniper carries long range during early to mid game and once you are done with first few villages your exp takes off big time and accuracy stops being an issue.
And ammo is never an issue, game literally throws money at you. How do people have a problem with it being scarce.
The only problem i have is carrying weight

I think the people with money issues don't have weaponsmithing
>>265252807
It's okay. Combat are total shit and gameplay overall I'd shit but the lore and dialogues keep you entertained until you realise the second part (LA) is just the same thing.
>>265277946
Wasteland 2 also has RNG.
Dice based, in fact.
>>265278789
I am still at the start so money and ammo seems to be tight right now.
Not sure how to make money either.
>mfw people bitching about low hit % and jamming
Jesus Christ, weapon parts exist for a fucking reason, and if you're damage is shit, run around the map fighting random encounters to sell junk so you can buy new shit. Dump stats into your main weapon stat until you're at 5 or 6.
Not fucking hard.
>>265278882
I have no weaponsmithing but money isn't an issue, I think at the moment I'm the richest man in California because no one has money to buy my loot or have anything I want to buy.

>>265279018
I've already got 5 points in leadership. 10% extra for the entire group coupled with early points in weapons for all means even rabbits can suck my dick.
Also brawling is the fucking shit. CRIT CRIT CRIT
>>265279018
How do you prevent jamming exactly?
Is it just having better guns?
>>265278882
Weapon smithing is a money sink until you get access to ranger base though. Which is when everyone complains about scarcity.
Shit gets crazy when you can start selling weapon parts
>dismantle a pipe bomb
>100 scraps worth of parts on a lucky roll
>>265278973
Just carry everything to the nearest seller. It's tedious but it's a good surplus of dosh
>>265279050
I ended up just stacking up on ammo
There are only like, 4-5 weapons in the game that you need to buy and a few armors, so everything else goes into bullets or stupid moneysink quests "hurrdurr gimme 10k scraps"
>>265279321
Some say it's affected by luck but there's no proof to back it up. Best way is to get sturdy mags upgrade.
>>265279321
when you break weapons down with weapon smithing you can get items. some of the items lower jamming by 2-4%
>>265279321
Weapon mods.
High luck helps too, supposedly.
>>265279370
>I ended up just stacking up on ammo
They're out of stock because I bought it all.
>>265279321
Better guns. Sturdy Mag decreases chance to jam by 3%. My assaulted with an M16 has 0% to jam. Extended mag only gives 2%.
Weapon smithing is a big deal.
>>265279370
>Weapon smithing is a money sink
I don't think you have to spend a single scrap for weaponsmithing. You attach/remove mods and salvage guns for parts which you can sell.
I never played any games similar to Wasteland or early Fallouts or anything. How is this game like?
>>265279287
Brawling is so fucking stupid.
So goddamn stupid.
>>265279321
Mag upgrades. Starting with strudy and then just swap to better ones like quick mag.
Solves jamming problems completely unless you are a poor shotty/hmg user.
So I got fucking Mechanical Repair and even put 3 points in it. I just finished AG and AM YET TO FIND A FUCKING USE FOR IT. Meanwhile safes everywhere, weapons I could mod or dismantle. FUCK!
>>265279481
>I never played any games similar to Wasteland or early Fallout
Then go fucking play them, at least Fallouts
>>265279516
only use i found for repairing was fixing locks when i break them from failed picking
Finally got started playing last night. Only an hour or 2 in so far but instantly like it. Just finished my 2 and half month run of DivOS and going to plough straight into this.
Should keep me covered fro quite a wile as we enter the comfy months. Time to rev up those hot drinks and warm blankets
>>265279585
And that is like a non-issue for me because my I already got 4 points in lockpicking. God fucking damn it, even toasters would've been better I've already passed by 2 or 3.
>>265279370
>Just carry everything to the nearest seller. It's tedious but it's a good surplus of dosh
Except killing shit makes yo take damage and the heals are expensive as fuck
>>265279464
I don't think you've finished reading a single sentence
>until you get access to ranger base. Which is when everyone complains about scarcity.
Before you are done with first towers and visited the first base might as well sell guns because you can't sell broken parts for profit.
Also weapon parts in general are a money loss, major one. If you don't get lucky with getting broken parts, you are losing money.
Which is why dismantling pipe bombs and tnt is so good - guaranteed broken parts for more value than actual item.My team has 10s in pretty much every skill but animal friendship and a few obsolete weapon types
>>265279483
>Brawling is so fucking stupid.

I haven't used a single healing item in the first 5 hours of the game.

There are also numerous free doctors in the game.
There's no real reason to heal manually aside of saving time or when there's a distinct danger of whole team dying.
>>265253291
>Shame Shadowrun wasn't better.
Amen to that what a fucking letdown. I bought the game and DLC for $5 on a sale and i still feel kinda cheated. So much so that I didnt pay for WL2, I will pick it up on a sale though, but I got burned hard on shadowrun. What the fuck did they spend all that kickstarter dosh on instead of developing the fucking game? It should be at least as good as wasteland2.

Most items you get from toasters are special quests. You get a spray paint can from the first one in the radio tower you can exchange for a +skill book from the guy north of the entrance of ranger citadel.

Animal whisperer.
It's really very boring, and there's no gimmicks to combat.
I'm up to Hollywood, 60-70 hours in.
There's no engaging anything.
Just some factions that can be summed up in 2 paragraphs each, and 70 hours of help retards by shooting things, get xp for reward.
It's not a bad game, I'll finish it eventually when i'm done snoozing and shitposting, but I won't remember anything from it a month from now.
>>265280031
Which phase of the game is it that I'll need all those medicaments? Because they weight too fucking much.
There's a free doctor available through pretty much any point of the game - Ranger base, Nomad camp, Highpool, Angel Oracle, Hollywood, Rodria.
There's always a doctor around that you can rely on when you aren't saving up level ups. I've pretty much healed with level ups through most of the game.
The only annoying stretch of the game is canyon of titan-airbase because there is no a single fucking medic in sight and i had to actually waste my goods between level ups.
>>265280240
Toast repair is for quests. It provides you with free decent weapons from time to time (usually ok unique) and plentiful exp for whole team.
It's not amazing but it's nice.
>>265280135
Second one, which I guess counts as normal.
I can imagine other difficulties being harder but you still have access to free doctors so yeah.
>>265253182

>>265256625
You fking murderer. It's gonna murder everyong and it's gonna be all your fault.
I'm gonna start playing this today, and I'll build a balanced team without min-maxing. I won't put attributes on 1 just because I know they are less useful than others. I won't make sure my team has every single skill.
How screwed am I?
>>265255363
With the amount of lazy references, bad writing, and shallow combat, you can't argue they didn't try to appeal to the mainstream. WL2 has less features than Fallout 1&2 and Silent Storm, games made 20 and 10 years ago respectively
>>265280765
You will have to all the way into the game menu to set difficulty to novice.
>>265280714
anyone?
>>265280619
>you still have access to free doctors so yeah.
Depends where you go, the only ones I remember are the one at Ranger Citadel, one in Highpool, and a one time only doc at Titan Temple.
Also enemies tend to hit harder in higher difficulties.
>>265280765

>>265272661
>ROSE
If you dont have a hacker, shes a fucking godsend. If you didnt min max your stats like these autist fucks in this thread, then her 10 int makes her a skill fucking beast and she's a godsend.
Give her a decent pistol, and she's a close encounters cleanupcrew. Crappy medic but is good for a backup rezzer when the medic goes down.
Otherwise......she kinda sucks. I picked her up and was glad to have her, next run I will minmax my crew and wont need her and will prob do highpoint first anyways.
Shit I did AG center and I STILL havent done highpoint while I fucked off with sidequest for 3 days, just wiped out rails, bout to do Darwin.
>>265280547
Agreed, the combat needed something more to jazz it up. It's very same-y. I feel that if they cut out half of the encounters it would've improved the game a lot just by giving it a faster tempo. The AI is shit which makes things even worse.
>>265280932
>>265281016
I'll play on hard. This gonna be fun!
>>265280913

>>265280936
High combat initiative for everyone.
Then whatever fits your playstyle.Read the fucking secondary stats description, it's not hard to figure it out.
>>265280765
Without minmaxing you are losing only 4 points (2 on luck and two on charisma) because everything else is actually really useful.
>>265280714
Varies greatly per character. But overall you want at least 8-9 AP (i'd go with 9 for most non ar character and with possibility to upgrade to 10 during first twenty levels. AR characters can go ghetto and use 8 ap and just burst fire everything, but it's suboptimal), 10 combat initiative and 3 skill points per level.More is better but this is pretty much a baseline and it doesn't matter how you achieve it.
Default str and speed at the very least.
The way you optimize the rest is up to you because there is a couple of different setups possible for weapons, group roles or just personal preferences
>>265280006
They spent it on the 5th Edition of the table top game, which was also a let down.
One day they are going to realize that if anything needs a gigantic fucking flowchart to figure out how it works, it's probably too complicated.
Hacking, I'm looking at you.
>>265280987
Nobody is forcing you to stick through the entire area without quitting to heal though.
Highpool was my go to route during Canyon of titan.
It takes time but saves money and overall heals better than anything you can afford.
>>265281506
The walk back and forth is a bore and on higher difficulty you'd need to do it nearly every fight.
>overall heals better than anything you can afford.
Kinda hard to not be since a doc will just max all your characters CON.

Well, might not actually be a hundred and fiddy, but a significant amount close to that number.

You were diggin his wife's grave, asshole. He even makes some depressing comments when he visits.
Game play wise, he's not amazing in combat , but I like having a support shotgunner and there's fuck all choice during first half when it comes to firearms users and I can't think of any reason to go to back to rail nomads.
But he's genuinely really fun character to have around because he's consistently commenting shit even in the second half of the game and his deadbeat attitude really goes well with the setting. (and brings assholes down) There are few teammates with as much personality as him.
