First actual console was a Genesis. We did not have much money back then, so I generally only got 1-2 games a year and rented the rest. I was actually very fortunate and was able to get the Sega Channel later in its life (Think netflix for video games 15 years before it was a thing).
Played the hell out of my Genesis until the AV adapter broke on it (Would only turn on if you held the AV cord in a certain direction). Eventually got a Playstation with crash in '96.
First portable was the Game Boy Pocket with Donkey Kong (Also my first Nintendo console).
