The first Zeno clash was really good, the second wasn't, it was too confusing.
I think they focused on the wrong things in the sequel.
>>
>>255329247
Perhaps, but I really like the way it expanded on the plot, although the new mechanics they introduced were clumsy at best

Cryo had such a good idea for a scary premise.
When you enter the past you know you are moments from death so you have to quickly figure it out, looking at anything going on to help you.
Props to whoever thought of that.
>>
>>255330391
"Mixed" is a good way to describe it. To put it simply, it's a ridiculously complicated game where you can hack into a door, fuck up and be reverse-hacked by the door and die. That's the kind of game it is.

And I love it for that.
>>
>>255330158

A clusterfuck of awesome that takes time to get into. First time playing I wasn't able to get into it at all because of the bad translation and general confusion, but after buckling down and actually learning how the game mechanics worked, I found myself enjoying it much more.

Hmm interesting, I guess I might get to it then. For whatever reason I seem to like games that are polarizing to people, I don't try to but when I like a game I usually look at what other people thought and its usually always mixed.
It also makes it so there arent a lot of games I like that don't try something interesting

Don't remember #1 well enough to say if the controller support is better or worse, only that I didn't have any problems with it in #2. Played it couch co-op on PC with 2 controllers.

Co-op is the entire regular game, p2 plays as Ghat's sister (who plays identically).

1's was really bad, and with how the style of fighting is I really wanted a controler. So happy to hear its same screen co-op though, holy shit that's amazing in this day and age.

For 1 you could only have one joystick work with everything I tried, (didn't use any mods though) which is obviously going to be hard in that game.
The only thing I didn't really like in 1 was the fight with Motherfather, really weak AI. But Motherfather looked so cool and weird I could over look it.

One of my favorite DS games. Its developed by sonic team and its similar to the game WarioWare.
The game gets a bit repetitive at times but it makes up for it with good humor and it's goofy games like avoiding kisses from your stalker.

Hmm, I can totally see someone not liking the game especially if they didn't like the combat. One thing about it is its hard to take a break and get into it again, but once I got the combat down I was having fun with it. I also really liked how you could run around and fuck people up with guns, chuck them at them and kick the shit out of them.
Did you like the world design or was there just nothing for you in it?

>>
>>255332418
>I don't think anyone ever played that game for the mechanics.

Ha yeah probably not, but when you see a game thats a first person fighting game, or beat-em up youre interested to see how they do it.
Its a tall order, and its cool someone tried it. A few changes in you and your enemies health probably would have made it better, quicker fights and stuff. But damn you feel some satisfaction from taking out a bunch of nutjobs.

Yeah that blind sniper was fun, especially because he really felt like he was somehow blind, which made him fun to shoot at.

It's a Sega subsidiary. Of course they aren't going to do any more to it. They've abandoned all of their IPs to shove Sonic into everything, even Disney films and Mario games. If we're lucky, it might get an HD re-release, but knowing Sega they'll just directly map the controls to new controllers without recalibrating them like they did with JSR.

RIP Troika

So open ended. Playing stuff like this and the more popular Baldur's Gate make me sad at how much of a step back we've taking for choices and paths in games.
I was just playing BG2 when I did the quest where you solve the murders in the first big city, and remembered when they did it in skyrim. In BG2 you found clues buy talking to people, and tried to figure out where they led, in Skyrim they put waypoints up to the people you talk to.

They should remake some Isometrics in first person, then they can have an easier time keeping all the choices and consequences while updated some combat. Or at least be using those as their inspiration

if the way of getting money doesn't really make any sense its pretty stupid. JRPGs should have little profession mechanics that you can get into so its not just killing monsters with big wallets.
Not to mention, there's hardly a point in spending money on weapons or armor, its all consumables, I would kind of like to see something worth saving your coins for.
But JRPGs are starting to finally iron out some kinks so maybe we'll see something like that.

This game.

This game has probably one of the saddest stories in gaming history. Advent Rising was created by these two brothers who started the idea in 1992 as a comic book. It was supposed to be their life work. They really wanted the series to be the next spawn or one of the greats. The brothers eventually got a deal with Glyphx to make a game. The game was promoted to hell, even had a 1 million contest for the game. The game sold shit, the company went bankrupt, the game was overshadowed by the fucking powerhouse Psychonauts at the time, and in the end, Glyphx took everything with them even Advent Rising which the brothers could no longer work on because they no longer owned it. Their fucking life work, all those years for nothing. And the game was supposed to be this Tetralogy with a huge comic book and movie. It was all over right when it began.

If the game succeeded it probably would have been the Mass Effect before Mass Effect.

Loved this game as a kid. Actually became a spiritual precursor to Kung Fu Panda.

The worst part was the platforming. Sliding and small targets. Bizarrely, however, the fighting was super tight and had excellent hitboxes. I played it last month and was taken aback by how accurate the attacks are. Humorously, there's a bit later in the game where you learn Monkey Style fighting techniques to progress; if you monkey bounce on the lanterns you actually get far more accuracy than if you'd just jumped.
>>
>>255337823
Quite fun, it had a huge amount of presets to make a nice variety of movies, it also a "sims" flavour to it, the expansion only worked on the english version of the game, but anyway, I have to admit, I never enjoyed the whole side of working on your actors and pleasing them, there was this "automated mode" and you cant make your custom movies until you unlock it, it doesnt take much, but it does work at creating movies of all genres, if you like the idea do play it, dang it desperately needs a sequel.

Because Aspyr, the publisher, refused to support it. I don't know if Steam policy has changed any, but the way it used to work, if enough people had an unplayable game, you had to fix that shit or at least attempt to. Aspyr said "lol no" and so Valve removed it. In their defense, at the time, Wideload was either dying or in the death throws of being owned by Disney, so they weren't exactly available to fix it. Aspyr would have had to hire a team of people to patch a fucking xbox port, not a very attractive proposition for a game that didn't even sell that well.

The first game still had a major flaw that ruined it for me. I.e: the combat was built for one on one fighting, but the game kept throwing you into one versus many.

Fairly early in the game you're up against your teacher in the first proper 1v1 fight (though he spawns ghosts / clones that assist him towards the end, if I recall correctly), and that was by far the most fun I had in that game. The rest of the game was pretty much just me trying to get a few punches in on a guy, having the auto-lock tunnel vision on aforementioned enemy, and then getting butt plundered by his ally. It just got annoying when landing one punch meant that A and D no longer made you strafe, but circle around your target while still in range of him and everyone close to him. By far the most viable strategy was hit and run - run in, do a few very quick punches and the dash off. Instead of actually getting into the fighting and doing all the dodges and parries and combos and shit,

It was under appreciated. The game sold like shit. Faggots today are just realizing about this game now after years of the game's release through GOG. Shows you how scrubby the gaming community is. Now everyone and their mother talks about it, I remember the days in /v/ when Planescape was a hidden gem discussed to those who secretly discussed the game during late night threads, similar to what Thief was before Thief 2014. Now you practically see it mention in every 3x3 thread.
