The main problem with game journalism is that there is no real backing to where we can check against for "game journalists" since this is still a new field compared to all other forms of journalism that has had time to grow and mature (even though now its mostly awful). A lot of people that are hired on are not held to some grand standard and critique or comment on the gaming industry to help better it, but instead are hired out of every other aspect besides gaming.
These journalists are bought off by being able to "review" said games by getting free copies way ahead of time and other merchandise. This insures that the people reviewing will usually play ball and give people what the companies want to hear just to be able to continue to recieve these bonuses. This in turn leads to false reporting and every other journalist will want to follow suite because a non backed journalist in the gaming industry is practically dead.
Unlike other forms of journalism where there are many companies that can and will publish your stories, the only venue that gaming journalists have in that area are their personal blogs which are almost impossible to get noticed. The ones who are noticed however and are given jobs, are ones that will never rock the PC boat. They will never have a personal opinion that will go against the grain and ask the hard questions. Asking those questions are usually considered the wrong questions and that leads to an early death in a career.

So now we have a field of journalism that is completely monopolized by the companies that are supposed to be interviewed and reviewed. Its hard to get your foot in the door if not impossible unless you are any part of the progressive cog that would make their company look better by hiring you. These companies be it devs,publishers of game journalism know that gaming has developed in such a way that they can use it to target specific groups and use their influence to help swing public opinion on things they want to push or they can use public opinion to help increase sales. A lot of companies like bioware are trying to push it too hard and what they dont know is that this progressive movement isnt big enough to support them solely by targeting that demographic. But the imagery of their company being so progressive and "with it" makes their stocks go up. People dont realize that this progressive movement including gays,transexuals and whatever other things they have made up are a minority. They are so vocal that their group seems much much bigger than it actually is.
There will be a great crash on many companies who are trying to bank on this and you will see much panic. The game journalists are actually accelerating this due to their majority of content being targeted mostly to grab those hits from progressives. So companies see journalism continuously posting about gays and trans and get the false image that its the new "in thing"

Mondays are related to the game's Development History, Tuesdays are about the game's Art Direction, Wednesday is the Gameplay, Thursday is the game's Story and Characters, and Fridays could be a guest article about something else related to the game, whether it be Social Issues brought up in game or a deeper explanation of a game's Inside Jokes or References to Films, for example. It can essentially be about anything, as long as it doesn't mimic the previous four articles.
Each article, if necessary, may also be appended with a Second Opinion from one of the other writers if they wish to make their own short comment. The fifth article is exempt from this, unless that Second Opinion is as well-crafted as the original article.

On Saturday, there is a Final Review of the game that takes from the first four articles (and the fifth, if applicable), essentially summarizing the week's content. Each of the four article writers then gives their own score of the game, maybe with a short explanation, and the final score is added from those scores. Sorta like Famitsu, but out of 25 so that Metacritic can get an X/100 score.
On Sunday, one of the writers puts up their own review article about any other video game, whether it's a game from a few months ago that the site missed reviewing or a game that only hipsters from TIGSource would know about.
