Skeletons are pretty strong in Nethack. They're weak for the part of the game they appear in (only in hell) but they're much stronger than most normal monsters and other undead.

It's done pretty good in Dork Souls. Skeletons crumble when hit but get recombined almost instantly, they're fast and they have several types of fast attacks, including torpedoing themselves right at you.
And that's just normal skellingtons, there are also giant skeletons, dog skeletons, wheel skeletons and baby skeletons.

In Diablo 2, Skelemancers were very potent throughout the early stages of the game, then died off in the middle when they usually lacked gear to get massive amounts of +skills to the summon tree.

I feel like skeletons in games should stay roughly as they are. The way I see it, it takes a large amount of magic to assemble a skeleton, give it a minor amount of intelligence, and let it walk around for even a day. So even if you could make a skeleton more powerful, it wouldn't be efficient since most necromancers I assume would have groups of the things wandering around. Now if they were a rare enemy it would be a different story, but in most games they are a semi common enemy.

Now what you've done here is set up a very niche situation. Your global rape abilities are low, although your synergy with your skeleton brothers is pretty good. That and magnetic bones is all you've got going for you though. Eric Von Skullkill would never go to a museum with bones in it and not be overly prepared. He might have holy water or crosses or anything to repel you. Even if you kill him you still have little ability to get out and rape people because your strength lies in ultimate form and tricking people into entering your museum.
