I know you hear that term get thrown around a lot on here in regards to Persona but the people who say that are idiots who don't know what they are talking about. people who actually like dating sims would find this extremely lacking. Dating sims have a focus on affecting the outcome of the story with a much larger harem of girls to go for. Persona 3 only really had three dateable girls and even in P4 the vast majority of social links are not dating related at all. the games focus on multiple endings and usually have some kind of payoff in regards to what happened. western players who's only experience is Persona think "ooh I guess I like dating sims now" but in reality a Persona fan would be bored to tears with a real dating sim and a dating sim fan would find it far too barebones and lacking much control. believe it or not the two things dont have much overlap in fans at all.
