It's not like it's bad or anything. It's closer to older WoW than modern WoW is, has a ting of nostalgic feel to it.
My primary issue is I'm forever tottering on the precipices between loving it, and loathing it. The almost pure vertical progression is a horrific design, since content that was difficult months ago is trivialized and thrown to the wayside as casual content. A lot of things, like the new PvP, have a strong foundation, but an astounding lack of foresight that make me think they're just rushing shit out without playtesting exploits in the slightest, etc. For instance, the game has a Vote Dismiss function, to kick out griefers and afkers, makes sense. You cannot dismiss while in battle however, which also makes sense.
The problem is in PvP, you are constantly in a fucking state of battle. Ergo you cannot Vote Dismiss. Ergo shitters can just afk at the base and soak up the PvP exp, as long as they run an algorithm or sit by their computer to make sure their character registers movement every couple of minutes.
I would say it is the best MMO out on the market, but it is a 7/10.

Wow, on that note, it isn't just rose-tinted glasses in the sense of how much community mattered when Realms were per say their own "universes" and people were forced to interact solely with players on that Realm. LFD is sure convenient and nice, but it definitely took away something unique that we will never ever see again on such a massive scale because all of these new MMOs have adopted the same fucking features as IC WotLK.

If a game is constantly updating with content, a subscription model makes sense. You're paying for the continuously new content. Hell, when offline games get new content, you pay for the DLC, which is basically the same.
My main beef with F2P is the only game I have played that got it the "most right" was PSO2. The hybrids are always the best, give the F2P shitters a decent experience, but also allow a subscription option.

Love the setting, love the lack of silly mounts and obnoxious armor, legitimately enjoy much of the questing (in AD especially), crafting and gear progression are awesome, and character building is the best I've seen in an mmo I've played. My only real complaints are the lack of nameplates, and PvP isn't rewarding enough even if i still enjoy it.

The same thing happened to me and DCUO. The combat was fun, and it was a blast to run around Gotham and Metropolis while grappling onto buildings and shit like that, but the constant paywalls were annoying, and even being "premium" (spent $5 or more on the game) gave you so little that it's not feasible compared to subbing. The thing that finally got me to quit the game was when they went full retard and made it so that you could no longer buy DLC with SOE's monopoly money. It kind of suffers from Deus Ex syndrome though, the graphics aren't the best to look at, and the game is reasonably complex, so it's not something that many people would go back and play, and you wouldn't get a new game of it without completely missing the point and casualizing it too much.

F2P is killing MMOs
Started playing TERA after playing RO2 for nearly a year, because of the Dark Whisper update, which made the already tedious grind for Master levels even worse, and the GUI made the game lag even worse. That, and it was a huge money sink, the only way to get the materials needed to upgrade your weapons and armour was with real money.
TERA has a far better combat system and better lolis.

I made a task of collecting all the armours from different dungeons before I stopped playing, was alright while it lasted. I had no interest in grinding for Legendaries however. Way too much work for what is essentially an achievment and a skin that looks like ass.
Engineer is pretty fun by the way, dont just roll grenades only try and do it your way. Grenades are effective but its so fucking boring.

Camelot will be indeed something like DAoC 2.0. They dropped more ideas this week, some of them really cool - the game map will be a huge collection of islands, and conquering a new area will stick together this new land mass to your realms territory. This way the game world will be constantly changing based on the ongoing battles. Sick idea for RvR world if you ask me.
There's nothing to show for the game yet though, they're didn't even implement combat.

Played since first Beta(really an early alpha) test. Said they would open up shio in February when the open world wasn't even available and we were only testing the PvP instances.
Was actively testing and posting for 6 months until I dropped it.
Red5 never gave a shit about anyone and the progress and ambitions were misplaced.
See an update about a year after I dropped, played it for 40 hours. Still feels like massive shit despite playing everything the game has to offer.
Unless you're telling me they've done a complete overhaul, the game only offers me to drone through the game during an afternoon, at best.
It could have been the best game ever made, but they fucked it over.
So if you're telling me they fixed the game, I might have to call you a liar or it is the second coming because that is impossible with the direction they have been going since the first test. With other media covering the game, it only seems more fleshed out, but nothing worth investing in, ever.
