I guess what's intriguing to me is that you would have to be more careful with how you position your units -- while spreading out and getting up close to the enemy would allow you a lot of attack points, you also become more vulnerable. I guess the difference between characters with low defense and high defense wouldn't be that one is easier to Knock-Out, but that having low defense means that getting hit will cause more damage to the total HP
but it's a system that would also reward risk, I'd think. I want to try making something like this but I would have to figure out balancing.

Almost every map has buried items in them, most aren't real important but can be useful. You can try walking onto suspicious looking squares and hoping to get a buried item otherwise you'd have to look them up in guides.
Probably shouldn't go out of your way to do it until you unlock some of the dungeons that have special items buried in them.

The "microcodes" are entire programs for the Nintendo 64's GPU, so there's potentially an unlimited number of them. It's hard to emulate for two reasons, one is that it's all essentially undocumented, so the emulator writers just don't know what all the individual microcode instructions are supposed to do. The second is that it's designed to be run on a GPU with specialized hardware, and emulated interpretation or recompilation of the microcode on the CPU, like is done for the main N64 CPU, would probably end up being way too slow. The only practical solution is to figure out what each microcode program is supposed to do and use the PC's GPU to do the equivilent operations.
Since most N64 games use one of two different microcode programs, ones who's behavior, if not implementation, was well documented by Nintendo, emulating the N64 GPU for these games is easy. The rest use custom microcode programs whose behavior was never doucmented, and since the documentation for the GPU is poor, it's very hard to reverse engineer what they were supposed do.

That whole level scaling caught me by surprise, did some of the side content and over leveled a bit and suddenly story enemies went from being level 15 with shit armor/weapons to level 25 with like dragonscale armors and top tier weapons. Well that's sort of my point. Camelot obviously has a very talented team. The fact that they can turn what would normally be very basic sports games into great fun with some depth and strategy just goes to prove what potential they still have.

Another Marona is more like the Etna Mode, Axel Mode, etc stuff from the PSP releases. It gives you most of the named characters from the main story.
It's paced weird though. If you do it first, it ramps up ridiculously and gets super hard. If you do it second you won't use any of the characters and Ash can handle the whole game.
