Can we get a Steam hidden gems thread?
We had one last night, but I didn't get to see much before I fell asleep.
One Way Heroics
roguelike for less than a dollar, posted last night
>>249680537
I can second this. The original price is only like $4 too.
One Way Heroics
Mitsurugi Kamui Hikae
How's Betrayer by the way?
I'll post my recommendations...
Keep an eye out for them.
Volgarr the Viking
La Mulana
Expeditions Conquistador
Gigantic Army
Defy Gravity
Do you think La-Mulana might go lower than -75% ?
La Mulana is too hard. Don't buy unless you want to read a wiki while playing the game

Yeah, I guess at this price it's already a steal.
Crazy, I was just getting onto my computer to post a thread like this. And I wasn't even in the one last night either.
Anyways: Ghostbusters - The Video Game is fantastic, especially if you're a fan of the movies. Only $5
>>249681597
Looks good, but what is it about anyway?
One Way Heroics
Mitsurugi Kamui Hikae
Pacman Championship
Gigantic Army
Super House of Dead Ninjas
Astebreed
Defender's Quest
Wizorb
Noitu Love 2 Devolution
Megabyte Punch
Croixleur Sigma
Fairy Bloom Freesia
Ether Vapor
DustforceYou Have to Win the Game
>>249681889
Seems like a God of War wannabe. Gives a B movie like feel
>>249682054
oh yeah, Wizorb is fun if you like brick breaker games. Played that a while back and it was fun for the price.
>>249682054
I'm hoping Astebreed will go -75%, although it probably won't, unless in a community vote.
PixelJunk Monsters Ultimate for $2
http://store.steampowered.com/app/243780/
>>249682054
It'd be nice if there was a quick few words about each game
>>249680101
Wizorb. It's a cute brick breaker with fun levels and "spells" you use to blow the ball around or shoot fire.
Space Rangers 2 HD you scumbags
>>249681064
This. It's $0.29 right now. You can sell the trading cards you get from the game and get your money back.
And it's fun.
>>249681612
30? Without the wiki, you'll be lucky to complete half the content in 60. That said, at least a third of that time would be spent on pixel hunting.

I tried getting into the game, had no idea what was going on or really how to play, died then stopped playing, any tips?
Stole this from NeoGAF
One Way Heroics - $0,87 (75% off) : Magnificient and unique roguelike style game.
Original War - $0,99 (80% off) : Cheap RTS with a story about time travel, customizable vehicle parts and caveman you can recruit. Tempted to gift away a few dozen copies of this and make a "Lets play..." thread.
Sentinel - $1,49 (50% off) : Incredibly challenging tower defense game with a great soundtrack that you influence with the tower placement.
Full Bore - $7,49 (50% off) : Hopefully gets a deeper sale, but this game is 40 hours of puzzle platforming exploration content in a basically open world and was among my top choices for GOTY 2013.
Divinity II: Developer's Cut - $4 (80% off) ( : Easily among the best RPGs of the past 5 years with a vast world and plenty of stuff to do. Oh and you are a dragon. Ridiculous value at $4.
Eador: Masters of the Broken World - $4,99 (75% off) : The lowest price its ever been and among the best turn based strategy games out there. Consider grabbing the Humble Weekly Bundle for $9 though to get Ironclad Tactics as well
Ironclad Tactics - $7,49 (50% off) : Fantastic card based strategy game with real time combat and deck customization. Lots of content too, consider grabbing it for $9 on the Humble Weekly Bundle to get Eador: Masters of the Broken World as well
Gateways - $1,24 (75% off) : Portal meets Braid meets Metroid. Non-linear platforming with portal mechanics and time manipulation for $1,24.
>>249682660
pt 2
Papa & Yo - $3,74 (75% off) : Incredibly imaginative and charming 3D puzzle/platforming game.
SpaceChem - $2,49 (75% off) : To no ones surprise, I'll include this game here as well. I'll preach this game until the day I die. If you never tried the game and you are up for a challenge, give it a whirl for $2,49.
Grand Ages: Rome - $1,99 (80% off) : Fantastic strategy game in a genre that only sees watered down iOS entries these days. You cant go wrong with paying $2 to build Rome from scratch.
>>249680935
Played it for one and a half hours
gameplay feels a little bit wonky, but the atmosphere and story are great so far
I'd say it's worth it for the price, but I feel a little buyer's remorse because I expected a little bit more shooting
>>249682632
Read the tips you get when you die, read any tutorial info you can find, and experiment a lot.
>>249682467
I love me some Space Rangers.
>get Mysterious Luatanza
>fund is empty
It is still awesome because it gives you ultra charisma.
Sang-Froid - $1.49
Tower defense game where you fend off werewolves from a village.
Pretty neat.
>>249680537
Gonna buy it now
>>249682467
>>249683085
Mah brethren. I wish they would make another game though, instead of endlessly re-releasing SR2, as good as it is.
Marlow Briggs is actually pretty fucking fun, in the same way a B movie is.
Worth that $1 for sure.
I posted it yeaterday too.
Original War. The only RTS I enjoy. Every guy counts here, the pace is slow, no infinite soldiers, everything needs people to work.
From labs and factories to vehicles. On top of that, it has some RPG elements.
0,89 EUR
>>249682660
>Divinity II
Says $8 on steam right now. Can a customize a female in it?
Aces Wild for $3.50, 65% off.
Best 2d action game ever.
>>249681597
>>249681889
I beat the game last night.
Its God of War with a cheesy B-Movie feel. The game ran great, looked much better than I thought it would, had a great sense of humor and had a dope boss fight.
It took me 6 hours and 45 minutes to beat with no searching for collectibles.
It's a surprisingly competent character action game that's well worth the $0.99 price tag.
>>249683609
I bought it a few weeks ago for 1€ then forgot that I had it, time to play it I guess
I've been told that it's like Jagged Alliance 2, how true is that?
They Bleed Pixels 75% off
It has a decent soundtrack and serviceable pixel art.
SkyDrive 80% off
It's an arcade kart game that happens to use airplanes. If you're bored and that sounds appealing, it's $2.
If you try to play well (pick up all of the pages, don't die, maximize your combos) it's challenging; prepare your anus.
>>249683517
>instead of endlessly re-releasing SR2
I dunno, everyone said the same thing about Egosoft and the X-universe games, and look at what happened when they tried something new.
>>249684021
Oops. That last line was for They Bleed Pixels. I ended up typing in the middle of it like a retard, because I was doing something else at the same time.
>>249683616
is it the director's cut? Only get it if it's the director's cut. You can customize but not as much as in oblivion
>>249684021
I really enjoyed They Bleed Pixels. Good game
>>249683683
Holy shit looks pretty, awesome.
Sleeping Dogs for $4.
http://store.steampowered.com/app/34900/
it's hilarious that bad rats isn't even on sale and it's €0.99
>>249684070
Well, to be fair, Rebirth would problably have looked different if the asshats didn't try to make the game for consoles and decided to stop halfway through the game.
>>249684002
I'd like to answer you, but instead of fucking playing the games on my backlog (including jagged alliance which someone advised me to buy because I love XCOM), I replay the games I already played, or buy more games on steam sales.
Fuck.
But as far as I know, Jagged Alliance is a turn based squad based strategy as opposed to Original War which is an RTS.
But in OW you also get permadeath for your soldiers.
Super House of Dead Ninjas doesn't get enough love
Here's a li'l list from li'l ol' me
VVVVVV ($2.49) - One of my favorite games of all time and an amazingly tight platformer
Sleeping Dogs ($3.99) - My personal favorite gta-style sandbox game, definitely has the best campaign of any that I've played
Ghostbusters ($4.99) - With the original actors back and all, surely something to please anyone whose ever seen the movies.
Dungeon Defenders ($7.49, will probably go cheaper) - The best tower defense I've ever played, and it always felt like it was really high quality for the price tag it's got.
Serious Sam HD: The First/Second Encounter ($5 each) - Old favorite of mine, really enjoyed the classic version, and was happy to play the remake.
Blockland ($3.99) - This was one of my childhood defining games back when it first came out. Played the shit out of it for years. Pretty good on it's own but there's a lot of really cool add-ons that make it better.
Bulletstorm ($9.99, wait for it to go lower) - Really fun beat-em-up fps, nothing special though.
Secret of magic crystal is super fuckin' sweet and only 99 cents.
>>249686186
I played Ghostbusters when it first came out, i really liked it, but the best part of the game is the multiplayer, but the online is probably LONG dead by now.
>>249686186

>>249680537

thanks anon
>>249686756
They're very different games, don't be that guy.
Minecraft isn't about creating as much as surviving.
But Blockland is still a fine game, they removed bedroom and kitchen in favor of a new lighting system which is kind of disappointing.
If you were looking to buy a game for someone else (possibly a younger person), then Oozi is not bad for $2.49. Unlike a lot of recent platformers, it has a progressive difficulty curve that eases the player into the game. It has bright graphics and a nice soundtrack. If you want a hard game for yourself, then probably look elsewhere.
I'm looking for amazing soundtracks.
>>249687823
Touhou
King's Bounty is pretty damn cheap right now. Excellent turn-based strategy game.
As an aside, I had found a list of "hidden gems" on another website. It included games like Farcry 2, Kingdoms of Amalur, andGone Home

PixelJunk Monsters Ultimate if you guys are into Tower Defense. It's a slower paced TD, but fun nonetheless
Currently only $3.39 for a 2-pack
its not steam, but its still pc. free to download with its expansions pack, one of the best rts games ever made. its a rts/tank hybrid during the cold war in space. im always surprised by how many people havent played this amazing game.

Ring Runner
It is a spaceship 2d action rpg with a really neat story and incredibly cool ships
Bleed is 66% off.
You run, you gun, and you slow down time to do those things better. Things explode. It's like a classic arcade game.
>>249682467

Jets'n'Guns
http://store.steampowered.com/app/262260/
It's a pretty fun shmup with a great soundtrack. There's a bunch of different guns, and you can sell any upgrades back to the store at a 100% refund, so you can try any combination you want without worrying about losing money.
If you like walking simulators and spooky environments, Kairo is pretty good and it's a buck fifty.Dat secret ending.
>>249682660
Ironclad tactics is also on humble bundle for $9 + 5 other games.
Also, what the fuck is up with captcha?
Getting photos of numbers on mailboxes and houses
>>249683683
I think the game was just made for the main character, the whole punching thing feels better than all the other characters.
>>249682802
>imaginative and charming
Meh.
They give away the whole plot in the title and then when you get to the end they reveal something that everyone knew from the start as if nobody knew yet.
>>249684551
>easily amused by flashing lights
>>249691493
It's a pretty good bundle.
>>249682660
Divinity 2 is pretty solid. I'm playing through it after getting it in a humble bundle ages back.
It has a lot of neat features like mind reading, turning into dragons, and making a customizable zombie partner. Just watch out for groups of enemies because they will sodomize you if you aren't careful.
I've been wanting some shmups for my library, but I haven't bought any. Any good ones on sale? The Gundemonium series is something I've been looking at, but that's just bullet hell.
Guys help! What is the Tanzanite of video games?

>>249680101
If your into RPG's, Sequence is great. It's got a rhythm based combat system, a great techno soundtrack and overall a pretty impressive plotline/ character presentation style.
>>249686186
>Ghostbusters ($4.99) - With the original actors back and all, surely something to please anyone whose ever seen the movies.
That game was pretty bad actually. I couldn't bear to keep playing it past the stay puft marshmallow man part.
>Bulletstorm
It's still GFWL dependent and they haven't announced any plans to remove that before GFWL is shut down. So if you buy the game you won't be able to play it for much longer. It's a game that you really should pirate if you want it.

>One Way Heroics
Japanese roguelike with some online features (meet dead players and shit) and some short but nice storylines based on your party members.
>Mitsurugi Kamui Hikae
Devil May Cry's Bloody Palace with Pantsu.
>Pacman Championship
Pacman with new gameplay mechanics.
>Gigantic Army
Pretty good Valken/Cybernator clone.
>Super House of Dead Ninjas
Fast-paced 2D action game. Arcade-like gameplay with lots of weapons and upgrades to unlock. Randomly-generated levels.
>Astebreed
Shump with robots and swords and shit.Haven't played it yet, but apparently it is similar to Ether Vapor.
>Defender's Quest
Tower Defense with a squad instead of generic towers. Have some RPG elements, like leveling, skills, magic and gear.
>Wizorb
Brick Breaker with magic and shit.
>Noitu Love 2 Devolution
2D action game with a neat mouse control mechanic.
>Megabyte Punch
Medabots + Smash Bros.
>Croixleur Sigma
Similar to Mitsurugi, but with little girls and less combos.
>Fairy Bloom Freesia
2D Devil May Cry's Bloody Palace with lolis.
>Ether Vapor
Shump with multiple camera modes (vertical, horizontal, lock-on thing).
>Dustforce
Precision platformer (like Meat Boy) with a nice soundtrack and some combat mechanics mixed with the momentum-based gameplay.
>You Have to Win the Game
Short but neat platformer focused on exploration (kinda like a metroidvania, but no combat). Also, it's free on Steam.
>>249686186
>Dungeon Defenders
Game's dead. Devs stopped updating in favor of making a MOBA sequel.
If you buy the dlcs once you reach level 70 you hit what players call "the brick wall", because leveling slows down to a crawl unless you play in nightmare mode, and to do nightmare mode you need nightmare gear otherwise it's impossible, meaning you're stuck grinding insane mode for hundreds of hours hoping for a sub-par upgrade to drop, or grind enough mana to buy gear from other players and pray that it's not duped.
You will never advance unless someone is helping you, and unless you find a dedicated group of people that's not going to happen because 9 times out of 10 when you join a high level multiplayer match you get kicked out by the host the moment you join, because in DD that's always been the norm.
Just wanted to point that out.

Magical Drop V costs 89 cents.
It's a Puzzle Bobble type game where lolis get mad at each other. Fun colorful graphics and just a blast to play. Plus it has online multiplayer.
>>249682054
Defender quest is the best TD i played. Better than other games of other genres.
>>249694949
Don't buy this. I bought it day one and it was a buggy piece of garbage with text errors and crashes out the ass. I don't care if they ever did fix it, you don't release shit in that kinda state and deserve money ever again.
>>249694949
It's also buggy, broken, and a horrible version of Magical Drop.
Play Magical Drop III through an emulator instead.
>>249689518

final fantasy 7 - 40% off
it's still about $7 though, last sale i saw it for like $2.50
Is it worth getting all the DLC with Sleeping Dogs or just the base game?
I bought Sine Mora and BattleBlock Theater, what can I expect? I loved Jets'N'Guns GOLD.
On the same note I'd like to nominate Jets'N'Guns GOLD as a hidden gem. It is only $2,99 and it is literally the best shmup I have ever played. Mainly because of the variety of weapons you can equip and upgrade.

>>249699207
It's basically the old PC port (and it's shitty audio, though I heard that they fixed it by adding the fan-made patch on an official update), but with achievements, SquareEnix's retarded DRM, and "2hard4me" cheat items.
PS1 version have no DRM, no casual shit and great audio quality. Even if you don't have a console, you can just use an emulator. Apparently the emulator works better than the port itself in some computers (probably because it is a very old and lazy port).
>>249699798

as long as you own the cd and the emulator you use doesn't require a bios (even then you just have to dump it yourself) you're perfectly within your rights and squeenix can go eat a bag of dick if they aren't happy with that

Damnit, you pushed me to buying the game. Looks good.
Some games i've been looking at
Waiting for Dustforce, Full Bore, and ikaruga to go on a bigger sale if they do.
Trying to find some nice point and click / adventure type games. So far most likely buying:
Still Life 1&2 -$4.99- (The collection set costs less for both)
Nostradamus: The Last Prophecy -$3.39-
The Egyptian Prophecy: The Fate of Ramses -$2.99-
Syberia 1&2 -$3.74- (the Bundle set that cost cheaper as well)
and found a stealth? game called Death to Spies (there's a Gold version with both 1&2 as well)

>>249707719
That's Crusader, not the original
>>249707592
Just finished Ys 1&2, just started playing Origin. I hope Ys goes on sale, the games are so fun.
>>249704891
It's a lot like old 90's puzzle games, much slower paced. It's not for everyone
>>249707592
It's barely day #4.
>>249707884
They always go on sale, might be flash or communiyy, though.
Thinking about getting Mitsurugi Kamui Hikae just because I have a friend who would insult me and call me a weeaboo if he saw me playing it. Am I right in thinking it looks kinda like devil may cry?
>>249708504
it looks really boring, repetitive, and lazily put together
>>249708504
Yes, it's like DMC but only in a closed arena.
>>249708151
>Community vote.
>It'll be Ys collection vs COD: Ghosts.
It's over.
Fucking casuals are ruining steam.
>buy blood dragon
>all this uplay bullshit
0/10
they told me it was a hidden gem
>>249708504
Yes. Buy it and don't give a fuck about what your friend thinks. If I had the money, I gift you both that and 100% Orange Juice to help you spite him.
>>249708652
>>249708504
It's a Comiket game so that's pretty much what I'd expect.
Worth it?
>>249708721
>listening to neon-/v/
>>249691493
>Getting photos of numbers on mailboxes and houses
You only get those when you're logged into a Google account, just sign out to fix it
>>249708884
>slender
Seriously?
>>249708884
drop slender, it's pewdiepie bait and not scary, and see
>>249704452
and the responses to judge if it's worth it without the dlc or not.
as for the rest? no idea
>>249708991
Or you used to solve a ton of captchas with the posting caching thing on 4chan X. Google penalizes the domain and the user for that by giving the user harder captchas and everyone on the domain harder captchas. Since fixing the caching issue with 4chan X lowered the domain's score for that, but it probably didn't lower the user's score.
>>249708991
I had them even after I accentily reset my browser settings
>>249709195
Why not. Just because the fan base is insufferable douche bags maybe the game is decent? Oh well I'll just try and pirate it.
>>249709260
No, it's totally a Google account. It's completely reproducable, if I log in to a Google account I only get addresses, and if I sign out, I get normal captchas again.
>>249709430
>maybe the game is decent?
>>249709461
Then you might be stuck in an experiment or something.
Or is this on multiple unrelated google accounts?
>>249709461
I'm fine with the photo captchas, normally I'd have to do 2 fucked up jumbled words, but these ones I just have to put in 3 numbers and that's it
>>249709624
Probably, right? I mean they won't just release that shit fest where you collect some pages in the woods and nothing happens. It has to have some gameplay.
>>249708971
then why are you in this thread?
>>249707592
>DMC 3
NONONONONONO
TRUST ME JUST GET THE PS2 VERSION
Worth it, or is it just another boring entry in the walking simulator genre?
Is the Betrayer worth it?
>>249710829
Wasn't there a fix for the pc version? It's pretty funny though, for a time emulating DMC3 was easier than playing the port.
>>249711072
You think it might be a great story leading up to something good, but it just falls flat.
>>249711072
Try the free mod it's based on first. If you enjoy it, I'd say its worth that price.
>>249711072
>just another boring entry in the walking simulator genre?
It is, but it's not as boring, so long as you can stand the /b/-tier humor
>>249711232
With the "fix" you have to delete some significant sounds as well as the game will framedrop hard
just get the ps2 version
>>249711072
I found it pretty funny and a bit creative for some of the endings, but I honestly would not pay for it. Pirate at best.
>>249698071
welcome to 4chan
>>249711397
>just get the ps2 version
You mean emulate the ps2 version in high def
>>249710152
You've not been informed as to what constitutes as an Indie game as of late, have you?
>>249682802
SpaceChem is THE SHIT, highly recommended. You will feel like genius when you solve the puzzles.
Though it's incredibly difficult and you will never finish it without looking up solutions on the net. Still totally worth it though.
TD games where you can't build a maze are shit.
>>249711072
I've played it, it's not worth any money. is it neat one or two times around? yeah, then you get through all the easily discovered endings and it becomes an exercise in futility.
they really jerk it to themselves with that one ending where they show off all the sounds they never used, room prototypes, and screen shots of stuff they never used or were cut from the final release.
>>249711072
>that achievement where you play the game, then DON'T play it for 5 years
who the fuck comes up with this shit
Sid Myers Pirates!
Bought Borderlands 2 GOTY for $9.99 how did I do?

Mr. Bree is alright for like 1.50. Doubt it'll be in anything other than a community vote.
>Mitsurugi Kamui Hikae
absolute garbage game
If anyone out there is thinking about buying it, don't
It's basically unfinished
You can't see shit with the camera
Shit translation
Shit pad and keyboard support
Really generic and crappy gameplay
1/10 because of the cards

Ring Runner: Flight of the Sages -70%
2D space shooter. Has a pretty slow start, but when it gets going you have really good ship customization. Story mode was a bit meh but I found it fun to just try to minmax ship designs and try to tackle the harder difficulties of deathmatch / gladiator mode.
>>249707335
It is meh.
The Cat Lady if you are into adventures, it was pretty damn neat. But it's only 33% off so you might want to wait for a bigger sale hereor on GoG like I did
>>249710829
Is DMC 4 alright or no.
>>249714356
Defcon was early proof to me, that video games were art. I mean, that was true before defcon, but defcon was further proof. And with solid gameplay.
>>249715780
DMC4 is the best port. Runs on a toaster.
>>249714356
Is that Hammerwatch game good or shit.
>>249707592
Well DMC4 is already at -75% so we might not get anything more out of that.I secretly don't want Ys to go on sales because I want to limit my spending
>>249715780
Yeah
>>249715780
DMC4 is one of the greatest PC ports ever (even though it's not really a port, the console versions were derived from the PC one).
The gameplay is top notch, even if the game itself was rushed, repetitive and full of backtracking.
>>249716020
I would have posted Wargames in Expected and Got, but that works too
Front Mission Evolved: 75% @ $2.50
Dragon Age Origins: 75% @ $2.50
if you have a computer powerful for mods, you can get Skyrim for 5 bucks, but I think it's better overall to pirate TES.
>>249716024
Not great. I wouldnt buy it
>>249716024
It is the kind of game that is only good with friends doing co-op. Like a modernized Gauntlet, without the added appeal of the arcade.
It is pretty dull and uninteresting solo.
>>249716024
if you like roguelikes, good
if not, it's shit
>>249716024
I like it but I may be biased because I did some speedruns of it.
Tales of Maj'Eyal
Good?
>>249716591
Hammerwatch has nothing to do with roguelikes.
>>249716232
Front musslim is shit, don't buy it
it's not like your average front mission, is more like COD but shittier with robots
>>249715906
>>249716037
>>249716053

>>249716028
I want Ys the most. pls gabe fucking fat jew.
>>249716791
aren't roguelikes games where you play once and there is no progression and so you have to start a new game each time?
>>249682660
Divinity 2 is hardly a hidden gem, but it's good enough that I can hardly give you shit for recommending it.
>>249716964
Yes
>>249716773
Is freeware
http://te4.org/download
>>249716964
The main aspects of a roguelike are: turn based, tile based, randomly generated levels, permadeath.
Hammerwatch has none of these.
>>249717069
so why isn't hammerwatch one of those?
