Everything except the multiplayer. Ship ciombat was slow boring molasses, foot combat was even worse. Story was trying to take itself seriously and ended up completely fucking retarded because of it, too.
Is there any reason to play the earlier PS3 Armored Core games, if all I'm interested in is the most refined gameplay and I don't really care about the story?

ACIV and ACV gen games have drastically different gameplay style with ACIV being unlike any other AC game before or after it. Go the /vg/ they have a general there with people systematically playing tourneys on both AC4FA and ACVD
Verdict Day doesn't have the most refined gameplay.
Every other game except 5 and the mobile shit has better gameplay than Verdict Day.
