Why is Undertale being called one of the best games ever made? I mean the "bullet hell" gameplay mechanic is kind of neat for five minutes, I guess, but that gimmick only gets you so far, when the rest of your game is garbage.
The level design is shit. The vast majority of the game consists of the main character moving to the right of the screen. Sometimes you will go up or down. Once in a blue moon the game requires to go left a for a few seconds, but for the most part a map of this game could be represented with a very long, mostly straight line. That's pretty fuckin' boring if you ask me, and by that metric this game is already shittier than literally (rather than figuratively) any other RPG/Adventure game I can think of.

Without delving into opinions that can be disregarded as subjective, all of these games are OBJECTIVELY better than Undertale in the following two respects:

The encounter rate in Undertale is so low, and the chance of taking any damage enough to kill you before you reach another save-point/health-refill star is unlikely if your even half-awake while playing the game.

Calling it mediocre and a quote-on-quote game is wrong, but I agree, it's capabilities is highly overestimated. It also ruins the game itself since you're supposed to go in with low expectations, and the "Fandom" is literally tearing it apart and making it seem like the next Pokemon.
It's a good game, and an indie GOTY contestant, but not overall GOTY, not game of all time, not even overall best game of the business quarter, but it's GOOD, and in terms of indie, it's GOTY-worthy.

So /v/, I'm fucking around with Source SDK and I'd like your opinion on the two rooms I've done so far. Going for some kinda high-tech lab or something, what do you think?
