Enemies go away after being killed 3 times, and soul memory is back. Also, adaptability has been split into two stats: capability and competence, both of which much be leveled equally to boost your iframes on rolls.

So I'm a dark souls noob. Playing through DaS1 for the first time and I'm stuck on pic related. My weapons are garbage and do 29dmg per hit to her for whatever reason

There's plenty of cheap ways of killing him. Just run up to him while spamming incendiary shurikens at his head, then doing aerial scythe combos when you get close enough.
Just finished mgs3 and am on to this game in preparation for V (I haven't played the series before now except 2 when I was way younger, like 6 or so)
