It works fine, you can just rule out the chance of using a high quality component cable because those things cost a shitton for the gamecube.
Luckily the Wii ones are freely available. You can pirate Gamecube games on Wii easily which is also good.

fps improvement in existing games maybe. There wont be graphical improvement like xbox 360 vs xbox one over GTA 5 , but I bet Halo 5 for example might get better fps.Who knows, if enough people pressure, maybe they could add split screen option for the owners of this console?
