off the top of my head, I don't think they can bring any of them back again, however Sonic will stay because he did it before, 2nd times the charm. Bayonetta might stay after the newfound ties with Nintendo, and being the ballot winner. But it's really up to the team behind Smash, and who knows what they'll actually do.

It wasn't an angel that gave him the armor, it was a traitorous demon.
The seraphim gave Doomguy "unmatched strength and speed," a demon gave him the armor, he gave himself a really bad attitude.
It's implied that Doomguy is the original Doomguy, but that the Night Sentinels were aliens native to Argent D'Nur, so one can assume that at some point Doomguy (that is to say vanilla doomguy without the praetor suit or the heavenly backing) left Hell after the events of Dooms 1, 2, and 64 and decided to hang with some aliens and taught them how to hunt demons.
Something happened on Argent D'nur (allegedly one of the night sentinels made a deal with a demon) that caused Argent D'nur to get overrun by demons and actually get teleported in to Hell. It was this that spurred Doomguy in to his legendary rampage that's spoken of in the Slayer's Testament.
A lot of people theorize that Doom Slayer is actually an Argent D'Nur native and isn't the original Doomguy, but this doesn't really make sense since at the beginning of Doom 4 he's established to be human, can read and understand English, immediately knows how to use every UAC firearm, and even acknowledges that it's fucking ridiculous that there's a chainsaw on Mars again.
Doom Slayer is Doomguy that started an alien club and got so pissed off when demons ruined his shit again that he went on a rampage so fucking awesome that angels were like "we need to get in on this."
