Not really. They're background characters for the first 30 chapters or so (what the anime covers), then in the middle of the third arc they independently become relevant to the overall plot. Unfortunately they're separated almost immediately after, and while the following arc focused heavily on Christa and we got glimpses of her relationship with Ymir in flashbacks here and there, Ymir herself hasn't appeared in the story since.

They get a lot of focus at a certain point(around ch 37 up to ch 50), then nothing else. You can give it a try though, it's still a decent manga albeit definitely overrated thanks to normalfags who watched the anime.

I'm an active reader of that series, up till the latest chapter, so I can tell you what's the thing about it. I'm also the anons in that other thread, and I'm very bitter right now but since I've already invested so much in this series I can't drop it.
The two main MC's friendship plays right into the your so called "romantic girls' relationship". They declared they want to be with each other, prayed together in front of a lovers's statue and so on. But you should actually read the manga and see how the panel positioning always put them as "partners" which gaze lovingly into each other's eyes and you would see why I was so crazy about it. Amano is a talented artist, there was no way that was unintentional. The relationship is a little bit skewed toward aside, as Futaba (the dark hair girl) is much more reliant on her partner (Pikari) and we mostly see from her POV.
So all is good and well until a loli turns out to be a shota. He declared his crush for Pikari with Futaba, and she was like "Ok. Since my love for Pikari is different from your love, I would be rooting for you".
I swear, that was one of the most WTF moment of my manga reading career. enough I want to go to Japan and burn that author on fire.
The thing is, as Pikari doesn't ever consider the boy as a love interest, after it, the series goes on as normal, and he is not seen again (yet). Pikari and Futaba being all lovey dovey again. Amano introduced Pikari and Futaba ver 2.0 (with one is Pikari's younger sister and the latter is that shota's older sister". The older sister has a crush on Futaba and worship her.
It's like she intentionally wanted to fuck with us.

Ai is probably a college professor at the end of the story since none of the students we see wear uniforms. Meaning it's at least 18 years since Tomo died since her sister is enrolling and she didn't exist when Tomo died. Ai was like 18 when she met Tomo so she spent double her age mourning her. Not enough that I would suggest it just because of that, especially considering 5th episode stuff, but still quite a bit.One of the main characters was a manga author who co-wrote a popular shojo yuri manga with another girl. The episode is focused on this and how the pain shared by her memories is extremely heavy.
For many reasons I don't think it will actually end with yuri though, so be aware of that.

It was posted in the webcomic thread as well. The artist runs a popular webcomic called cucumber quest and made a series of popular videogame parody comics focused on metal gear and persona 4. CQ has a lesbian side pairing I think.
The author said that LotS ended up making much more money for her than she thought, so I hope it leads to more stuff like it.
7th ep of Kiznaiver was pretty solid on the /u/. It seems pretty clear to me that someone was in denial but unfortunately it is too late to fix that.
This arc has ended so this is almost certainly the last we will see that is /u/ related.
Opinions seem split on the matter but I considered the last two episodes the best we have seen of the series so far, but I also don't expect that trend to continue. It was rather touching but left a hole that made me feel like there could have been more.

I perfectly understand that a kiss would have been great, but to me the story was fine like that. It served to add more characterization to Maki, to show how fragile she is to the point that she was terrified to get even more hurt if she allowed her feelings to take over, since Ruru would be dead soon, leaving Maki all alone.
I think that the story would have been more cliche if they didn't show that selfish side of her character, but it was pretty obvious that the feelings were mutual. Ruru's letter shows that she completely understood how Maki was feeling, too.
I usually hate the dead lesbian trope but this was well done, I also liked how people in-universe called the manga that reflected their story a totally cliche and melodramatic teen drama.
