That didn't take long.
Hey, what besides Pandora is recommendable this season?
It's kinda hard to make out yuri content when it's not the focus, and none of the shows I watch have some.

I watched first episode of Mahou Shoujo Nante Mou Ii Desukara which seemed nice. Haven't really been keeping up with the shows this season for some reason.

Our group for the 2016 4chan Winter Cup is:

/u/
/tg/
/pol/
/sp/

This could be hell or it could turn into a joke group, but right now it's looking like a group of death. Our first match will be Friday, February 19th at 13:30 EST.
>>
>>1983609
Is this bad?
>>
>>1983615
They're all strong or wildcard teams.
We'll get BTFO or We'll crush the group.
>>
>>1983609
Correction The time of the game should be 13:00 not 13:30.

>>1983615
It could be, but it could also be really helpful. Our export and team is definitely strong and a lot of teams really didn't want us in their group so it should be an interesting group to be part of. If we advance from this group it also means that at worst we'll only have to face one of them when trying to get to the Cup during knockouts.

I guess if you are absolutely desperate there's some snippets in Ao no Kanata and one girl has some ambiguous feelings towards another in Musaigen no Phantom but I've only watched the anime so those might go full het later on. Not bad shows on their own but not enough yuri teasing to watch for that alone. It's a very dry season, no surprise there given last year's abundance.

So this might be a kind of weird question and I apologize if this isn't the right place to ask it (I don't visit /u/ very often), but is there a name for this position here?

This isn't exactly it but of course now that I'm thinking about it and trying to find it I can't find exactly what I mean. It's like this, but generally with both girls kneeling, and often the one doing the fingering is sitting lower than the one being fingered. But the general idea is like this, face-to-face, chest-to-chest, with one girl's arms wrapped around the other girl's shoulders. I guess it's kinda like the Lotus position except kneeling and with yuri? I'm not really sure if there's a better way to describe it.

Question.
Do official burgerland localizations destroy fan translations? Because I really don't want to import manga from fucking USA to keep up to date with this.
>>
>>1985068
There aren't many yuri localizations to base this on but for the most part scanlation survives for popular titles. Not the best example but After Hours was semi-popular and got taken down recently but supposedly will still continue. If this was something less known then it might stop scans but this is shaping up to be one of the yuri juggernauts of the decade. I doubt we will ever have a problem keeping up to date on it.

plus it will probably end before SS ever catches up to the scans
>>
>>1985083
After Hours scanlation is dead and buried.
>>

Is it considered poor form to ask for recommendations in this thread? I've been working my way through the recommended manga in the "Welcome to /u/!" thread, and while I still have a few left there I've put on my "to read" list, I have less interest in the rest.
>>
>>1986083
Well, what kind of manga are you looking for?
>>
>>1986088
Yuri, though I suppose that's obvious. I'd prefer something longer rather than shorter (though not SO long that it drags it's feet), and completed would be preferable. Definitely looking for a proper romance as opposed to unending teasing. I'd prefer it to be lighter on the drama and/or angst, but I'm not gonna be tremendously picky. My favorites that I've read so far have been Girl Friends, Husky and Medley, Hanjuku Joshi, and Wife and Wife. I don't really care about actual sex content being present or not, but I do really like kissing.

I've just started Gokujou Drops, too.

The only one I've read from the recommended list that I didn't really like was Chatting at the Amber Teahouse, but that was only because I didn't care for the art style.
>>
>>1986094
Candy, Sasameki koto and my favorite Hoshikawa ginza 4
>>
>>1986105
I read Sasameki Koto (and loved it) and Hoshikawa Ginza 4 (also loved it, if the ending felt a little like a cop-out) yesterday. I'll definitely check out Candy though!
>>
>>1986094
I'd recommend Collectors though it's still on going. Other than that guess I'd suggest to check out Akiko Morishima and Amano Shuninta works. For Amano Shuninta's works I would suggest starting with Yukemuri Sanctuary and Sweet Guilty Love Bites.
>>
>>1986109
I'll definitely look into both of them, especially considering Morishima is the author of Hanjuku Joshi. Yukemuri Sanctuary looks particularly cute.

I'm just hesitant with ongoing manga since I read Berserk, and I got really interested in Gretel only to find out it got canned after six chapters. I just don't want to get burned again, basically.
>>
>>1985979
I played a bit of the game, Yoshitsune seems to have a crush on Shizuka, but Shizuka also has a little bit of teasing with the player (even if the player is female). Besides I heard both Yoshitsune and Shizuka are inspired by japanese historical figures who were lovers.

>>
>>1986331
>>1986335
Well that was interesting. The romance between Sato and Sono was really cute and developed well despite the short length, but it still left a bit of a bitter taste because of how hard Hiroko got shafted by the whole thing. Maybe I'm just a sucker for fluff, where everything's happy and nobody gets left alone, but it really seemed like she should have gotten integrated into the relationship as well, somehow.
>>
>>1986364
Kase-san is super fluffy too. There is a lot of nice yuri on Dynasty now, so really just go at it.
>>
>>1986369
Kase-san was one of the first yuri manga recommended to me, I just haven't read it yet because I'm extremely wary of the phrase "irregular updates."

I'll give it a read though, I didn't realize that new chapters existed but hadn't been translated, I thought it just hadn't updated since May of last year.
>>
>>1986364
Look at it this way, Hiroko was never in a fulfilling relationship at any point in her life, including the one during the story. Yet at the end she learned to love. It was only this loss that set her free. It is bittersweet, sure, but still a happy ending for a formerly loveless soul.

>>1986369
>It has been 261 days since last Kase-san

Kase-san is mostly self-contained chapters, thankfully. No harm comes from reading it now.
>>
>>1986442
Yeah. I mean, it worked well for her, but it was still kinda sad.

Kase-san is fluffy as fuck, I love it.

There was another one I was hesitant on because it just went on hiatus, I think it was Swap <=> Swap? Has anyone read that one? Would that be painful to have to wait out a huge hiatus for? Also Bloom Into You, which doesn't have a status listed on Dynasty. Are those safe to read now?
>>

>It has been 261 days since last Kase-san

>(2122d ago)
>>
>>1986448
At this point you should just learn to trace so you can do it yourself.
>>
>>1986447
Yes and yes. Bloom Into You is one of the best new series in town. It isn't close to being done and it might leave you anxious for the next chapter on occasion but that is part of the fun. I don't think you could ever be disappointed that you took a chance on it.
Swap <=> Swap is worth it as well. To convince you: there is a lot of kissing.
>>
>>1986458
I can wait a bit for a new chapter, that doesn't worry me. It's a fear of there not being a new chapter that makes me hesitate on some of these things. I'll definitely read both of those, the "lots of kissing" tag on Swap <=> Swap has been begging for my attention.

Thanks for all the help and suggestions today, guys. Really enjoying my discovery of the p/u/rest love there is.

>>1986795
But is it really? Last I heard this was basically Negima id it has started off in full action-shounen mode and skipped the harem pretense.
>>
>>1986779
Haven't read it, but according to the wiki They're sisters and Konoka and Setsuna are both their mothers.

So on one hand the allegations that they married men are shot, but on the other hand the likelihood of yuri between Honoka and Isana is basically zero unless it's the forbidden sisterly variety.
>>
>>1986823
>both their mothers
Grandmothers, my mistake.
>>
>>1986823
So is the trolling about Konoka and Setsuna marrying guys finally going to stop?

Has there been any actual Yurie n the past two season?
>>
>>1986828
Probably not.
Someone might argue that Setsuna married one of Konoka's brothers. And whoever Konoka married took her name. You can't fix hetstupid.
>>
>>1986842
>can't fix hetstupid
Not even with the Negima manga basically screaming "Setsuna and Konoka married each other"?
>>
>>1986845
Quite.
This is pure speculah but my guess is that Konoka and Setsuna either adopt/clone/magick themselves a daughter. Negi either marries their daughter (he's be older than her but that's by no means unheard of) or he has a son in his teens and his son marries their daughter.

Of cours, untill we see a full Konoe/Springfield family tree it will remain speculah.
>>
>>1986786
Stretch is an excellent manga, the horribly rushed ending doesn't change that.
>>
Poor Poor Lips was awesome. The whole thing was very cute, particularly the ultimate confession and kiss. I also really like how Kenmochi's character was treated by the rest of the cast. Thanks again for all the suggestions, guys.
>>
>>1987058

Maybe for /a/
>>
>>1987058
>Stretch is an excellent manga

>Doesn't resolve its main plot
>Excellent
>>
>>1987058
All the things that made Stretch seems strong (ignoring the yuri parts that never manifested) were contingent on actual follow-ups though. Like the traumatic backstory which ended up being not only resolved off-screen but never really even became relevant in terms of character-development (say, overcoming grief or the like) or whatever. It sure looked very well done when it seemed to be coming to a head in the story, and not so much after it didn't.
>>
>>1987128
It didn't rely on the resolution of those moments, the moments themselves were meaningful enough on their own.
>>
>>1987136
I'd say they are only meaningful in context of the story. They were meaningful because they showed her past struggles, and how she was still scarred by them. The introduction of her ex and it being repeatedly brought up clearly built up to it being dealt with. No, the series did not absolutely have to show her confronting her past and shit on-screen, but what it SHOULD have done was contextualize these struggles by showing her progress as a person in overcoming these things. For a yuri approach, for example, that could be a storyline where she learns to get over relationship hangups and overcoming fear of bonding so our leads could date. Or it could have been something else, not related to their romance at all.

At any rate, while I question the value of showing us her past without intent of making it otherwise relevant to the story at all, that's also not what was happening - because the story made a point of reintroducing her ex and therefore connecting it to her present. If it was left ENTIRELY in the past I could buy that explanation, but as it was, no way.
>>
>>1987136
This. People lose sight of the journey when they only expect the destination.
>>
>>1987143
It just seemed unfinished in this case. The early events weren't enough to stand on their own, in my opinion.
>>
>>1987154

It's actually unfinished; it just set things up and does nothing with it.

>Muh journey

It's a story, if the story doesn't resolves it's own plot, it's not a good story.
>>
>>1987161
It's like the car running out of gas and you're still in the middle of nowhere.
>>
>>1987161
You need to read more.
>>
>>1987224

Just because there's lot of terrible stories out there, doesn't mean their terrible storytelling are justified.
>>
>start Bloom Into You
>"Man, this is gonna be a slow burn, isn't it?"
>confession (sort of) in chapter 1
>proper confession AND kiss in chapter 2
So much for a slow burn.

Not that I'm complaining.
>>
>>1987154
Remember how threads exploded every time a new chapter came out? The author's return promised and Prism's early death demanded something interesting but the way it avoided even the slightest hint of exposition by the end was pointless if he wasn't going to do anything with it.

>>1987060
I've seen that sentiment before but I can't understand it. Who cares about Kenmochi or how they reacted to his gender? He was an unrepentant ass and the whole arranged marriage plot sucked. PPL would have been better if it ended a volume early.
>>
>>1987364
I just liked that it wasn't treated like a joke is all. I thought the arc wasn't as good as the ones before it, yeah, but I did appreciate the ending it lead to. I mostly just liked that they actually treated a transgender character seriously and not freaking out about him being a crossdresser or anything like that.
>>
>>1987343
Yeah, that's not the point. You need to read more so you can understand more. More knowledge is never bad.
>>
>>1987414

The only thing more knowledge will do here is make people have an even lower opinion of Stretch
>>
>>1987414

How reading other works will make me understand more about Stretch ? Stretch failed at basic storytelling, I understand that perfectly already.
>>
>>1987426
Eh. That's not necessarily a bad thing, what's matter is that they know more.
>>
>>1987431
If you think that you got it all covered and satisfied with it then good for you. Whatever works for you man.
>>
Well, I can see why people are praising Bloom Into You even with only a few chapters already out. The art is pretty good and the author draws facial expressions well. The primary emotional conflict is very different (at least compared to what little other stuff I've read), and definitely in a good way, deviating from the standard "Am I really gay/do I really like her?" thing that seems to come up over and over.

Is it updating regularly right now? I see the latest chapter was posted on Dynasty only a couple days ago, but I remember seeing that one of the ongoing ones I was looking at was just entering a really long hiatus. I think that might have been Swap <=> Swap though. Anyways, thanks again for the help and recommendations.
>>
>>1987448
New chapter comes out end of every month and scans aren't far behind. Swap <=> Swap is the one on a scanlating hiatus until volume 2 is published near the end of the year.

Yeah, but the General thread, by its very nature is prone to contain stuff you're not interested in and that you can't hide.
