Fuck, this show has a ton of potential, Otako and Galko have Teh Tension between them and Ojou is an obvious lez.
I just checked the show's pixiv tag and there seems to be a single yuri pic with it. Unless there are some great hidden gems in the mess that is twitter, people really don't realize the great yuri potential in this.
My half-assed guess of why that happens would be that Gyaruko's whole schtick seems to inspire the sort of "impure" images that next to no yuri artist ever comes close to doing.

See, this is the exact reason I didn't want to go on detail; it's impossible to describe it while staying yuri, because there is none.
Considering the het material out there, a lot pics are about excess, like montruous tits or great patches of pubic hair, and rather unsavory themes like prostitution, gangbanging, straight shota, creampies, ahegao, etc.
It's kind of funny how certain works attract certain fanart, as if fans were creative only within a limited scope defined by the text's original tone. Like how Soul Calibur inspires lots of bdsm porn while YuruYuri's is mostly girls kissing and fingering each other with clothes on. Then again, fans are finicky and prone to tantrums if archetypes in which they've all settled in already are defied, but then again I'm pretty sure no one would argue about another pair of tits on top of Galko's Galkos.

It's not too hard to imagine parallels for most of those ideas, although some of them either require a certain finesse in execution or can only be done if futa is involved, which I don't mind so long as no males appear and it's done with a reasonable taste.
As for staying within archetypes, creativity is part of what defines talent, so they're either conservative with their ideas to the point where it stifles what they're willing to do with their fanart, or they actually can't think outside the box. Either way, I don't really look for fanart myself anymore unless it pops up on this board, since I'd like to just make my own and fuck everyone else, but what you've said is pretty consistent with what I'd seen myself. It shouldn't take too much to break the mold if the artist is next level good, and persistent at that, though it looks like such a person remains to be seen.
