[bourbon intensifies]
What the heck happened to the last thread? It was in the middle of page nine and disappeared off the end of page ten in five hours? /u/ never moves that fast.
>>1942810
It also broke our one-year long streak of always maxing out every thread. Which rustles my jimmies. Especially as there are threads still on page ten that have less recent posts than the last LoK thread.
Anywho, have some Southern Winter Festival Korrasami.

>>1942957
We went a full year (367 days actually), but yeah. Not all of 2015. Due to some shenanigans, the thread jumped from page nine to the end of page ten in a couple of hours. It's frustrating. We only leave open image spaces because we used to make it boring for ourselves by burning through the images while we were still on page one or two.
Two cute vids from the last thread in case you silly lesbians missed them:

That shouldn't be an issue for our leading ladies in the comics if this body language is anything to go by.
Do you think for Avatar Christmas Asami bolted Korra to the ground and stuck a bunch of candy canes up her cooch and left them there all day? I like to think so.
>>1943135
Book 1 takes place in the URN's winter and there doesn't seem to be any winter festival. Book 2, six months later show that the SWT does have a winter festival. So, I imagine Korra would be the proactive one there.

>>1943257
>i blame the inability to link to this thread in the previous
It doesn't help. The few times we haven't been able to link the new thread in the old, the newer thread was slow getting off the ground. I still wonder what caused the burst of bumped threads. The thread before last hovered in the middle of page ten for two days before we lost patience.

>suddenly a page 9 thread just up and disappears. We had image posts left, damn it.
I know. I'm miffed. Wanted to post some pics in the last thread too, but held off because we were in the middle of page 9. It's strange that there were threads left whose last posts were made before the last post in our thread.
So, now that we're nearly at the end of the year, a few questions.
How did the neechan whose twenty year old gf who wanted babies resolve her situation?
Has lumberjack Anon remarried?
Has the neechan that wanted Asami's red finale dress achieve her dream?
Has Shoop Anon legally acquired Photoshop?
Has grapple-chan mastered gun-kata yet?
Does VodkaAnon still drink their vodka straight?Yes.
Has Concerned come up with a new tactic?
Do the MakoLin fags ship them harder than Korrasami?
Is incredibly incompetent Azulon or social justice Izumi the more accurate characterisation?

It's the only way it could work. I'm no proponent of the ship, but if you want Tyzula without Ty Lee effectively being an abuse victim, you have to go with subzula.
But if you're okay with Ty Lee being Azula's terrified toy, then you have a ship that definitively ends when Ty Lee enters the Kyoshi Witness Protection Programme.
>>1943343
>ship that definitively ends when Ty Lee enters the Kyoshi Witness Protection Programme.
Why can't Ty Lee just realize that the pain, humiliation and threats of death are what she truly craves for and that those gentle, romantic peasant girls will never satisfy her?

It's one thing for Zuko or Korra to become more mature and self-reflective, or for Mako to become more selfless and emotionally open, or for Tenzin to gain confidence in his own self worth, but these are all overcoming character flaws. Not overcoming psychosis. I find it very difficult to imagine Azula becoming anything but a crazy old predator like Hama.

Sure. The primary comic is still coming out in Autumn next year, illustrated by Brittney Williams. Her page is here: http://anotherbrittneywilliams.tumblr.com/
Expect an alt cover(s) by Bryan (pic related).
There's also news of a free LoK comic coming in May: http://www.darkhorse.com/Blog/2207/dark-horse-announces-2016-free-comic-book-day-silv

>>1943722
>The prequel likely won't have much for /u/s but it's going to be great seeing the setting again
This. I miss the universe of LoK. The AtLA comics don't really fill the gap. If we're seeing babby Korra, I also hope we get to see younger Tenzin, who would be fairly pleased that Pema was pregnant.
>there's a lot of backstory I'd love to know.
Ditto. There's so much we've just had to assume about Korra's early days that I'd appreciate being given some substance.
>Both artist's stuff looked great. (Especially the prequel artists Korra stuff).

Oh, /u/.
So after much badgering I watched this thing.
I thought this was about the brown character we're introduced to right away, but after a cool few introductory and opening scenes, they meet an inexplicably talented orphan, with whom they immediately fall in love. Ugh. Then this pale saviour turns out to be a superior combatant with crazier powers to what I thought was our main character, despite having no formal training and supposedly barely surviving from day to day their whole childhood. And then everyone of the opposite sex this character meets immediately loves them and thinks they're great. Everybody else's more interesting stories take the backseat to this boring, unengaging jerk, who we are told is fucking amazing in every way. Then they save who I thought was the main character from the unmasked main villain at the end and inexplicably overcome their god-tier power for no rhyme or reason. In summary, The Force Awakens was very disappointing, but what's this I hear about Avatar having a sequel series?
>>1943911
I think you might wanna go to the Disney thread for this one.
OK so I was thinkinging, we always talk about the next Earth girl Avatar and all that, but with everything that Korra has given us I think there's some real interesting potential in the next Air Avatar, seeing as he/she doesn't need to be part fo the Air Nation. Born of Air but not a Nomad so to speak. Might make for an interesting dynamic. And obviously it's going to take so far into the future that they might as well be from different planets.

I liked it as it gleaned from iconic events in the original trilogy and paralleled them in a mimetic way (not memetic, although you can argue that, sure).
It might be all my months shitposting on the double letter boards that when interracial romances are presented, I immediately expect some metafuckery to be afoot, but I was pleasantly surprised how organically they mostly developed Rei (?) and Fin(n?)'s relationship.
The Mary Sue complaints don't bother me because the near-explicit expectation of sequels give the writers leeway to explain themselves and, more importantly, Rei's character.
The only cringeworthy moment for me was Kai-low Ben/Ren (I only remember his name shouted once)and his father on the bridge, with the bait-n-switch climax where Han had tried to save his and Leia's son; then he got Kenobi'd.That wiped away the cringe from earlier and I was tongue-in-cheek glad for the buildup and twist.
Pleasantly surprised, solid 8/10 from me.

>It might be all my months shitposting on the double letter boards that when interracial romances are presented, I immediately expect some metafuckery to be afoot, but I was pleasantly surprised how organically they mostly developed Rei (?) and Fin(n?)'s relationship.
The metafuckery would be in the sense that Rey doesn't get Finn at the end of the trilogy. Becausethat's what Skywalker's do.

I'm actually really disappointed Korra's not going to get to have a kid of her own. Unless Bryke come around and say she wouldn't be able to anyway due to trauma and other factors, then I'll be less disappointed and instead more furious at the men who kept punching her in her ovaries.

Ty Lee is just this thing that hangs around. It's very obvious that Azula only barely tolerates her and that Ty Lee knows her place on the totem pole.
There's a reason Mai knows she can buck Azula's authority without issue while Ty Lee has to jump down the dirty drainage pipe.
>>1944083
>I'm actually really disappointed Korra's not going to get to have a kid of her own
It's not all that important anyway. As long as she loves he adopted kids the same way I don't see why she should need to have kids of her own.

While Korrasami was pleasantly surprising (not the relationship, the fact that they had the balls to confirm it), I hope we DON'T have any surprise lesbians in the comic. Or surprise gays, transexuals etc.
I'd hate it to devolve into a token minority parade.
>>1944570
Isn't it much less tokenistic to have two gay couples rather than one?
>>1944597
You could also argue that it would start to be too on the nose.
>>1944168
Considering what power level Ren had in the damn movie (stopping a blaster bolt MID AIR and have it hover there for minutes without really paying much attention to it) it was completely unrealistic that Ray was able to overpower him in the force. The battle I'll give her because he was majorly fucked up because of Chewie's bowcaster bolt, but even that is already a stretch.
So yeah if Ray isn't a borderline Mary Sue I don't know who is.
Fun fact: General Hux shares his German voice with Zuko.
>>1944597
Context matters. The fact is there have been no other hints of a gay couple throughout the series. Sure, Bryke have (allegedly - calm down) stated that Kya is gay, but part of her character is her fear of commitment. So if she suddenly overcomes that in the comics, apropos of nothing, it would certainly feel forced.
>>1944670
This. Now if we meet one of her former flings in the comics that's a bit different.
Of course it would also be cool if we would get comics that focus on Aang's kids. I mean come on, wouldn't you love to see Bumi's rise in the military ?

I suspect he's just a lot more worldly than the rest of the group at that point, and didn't unconsciously dismiss Asami showing off for Korra as nothing.
It's weird to see Kyhu owning up to making art from before her purge/name change:

I actually played SCV at a friend's house >>1943569 and am pleasantly surprised janitors didn't gestapo this one yet. Good tidings all around!
I didn't realize how much more tightened and responsive the mechanics were in the freemium Lost Swords until I tried playing through the slushy control scheme of V. Unless my friend ejacs into the controller's X button a lot, SCV's recovery is inherently sluggish.
Interesting to note that Taki is the only SC character to replace her replacement (IV to V to LS), while LS is perfectly fine having 4 sword and shield clones.

>The Mary Sue complaints don't bother me because the near-explicit expectation of sequels give the writers leeway to explain themselves and, more importantly, Rei's character.
I can't help but remember people saying we should give The Phantom Menace leeway because the later prequels would put it into context.
As the lead character in just this movie, Rey was awfully disappointing.
Sadly, despite liking Korra, Asami, Furiosa, Buffy, Jessica Jones and Princess Leia, this makes me a sexist.
>>1946308
>As the lead character in just this movie, Rey was awfully disappointing.
This. Also I can't help but feel that it's unrealistic that she was able to overpower a dude in the Force that was able to suspend a blaster bolt in mid air for quite some time without really paying attention to it either.
Not even Luke did that in his first appearance. Sure he used the Force to land the shot at the Death Star, but he sure didn't win direct battle against Vader. That was still 4 year away from that point.

Is that even canon anymore? The point is, becoming an awesome jedi is clearly not difficult if you're talented enough, and Kylo Ren's training wasn't even finished.
>>1946487
>Is that even canon anymore?
It is. It's from the new Star Wars comics in fact. Remember everything that came out with/after Rebels is now canon. The only exception being TCW.
>>1946375
>I can't help but feel that it's unrealistic that she was able to overpower a dude in the Force that was able to suspend a blaster bolt in mid air for quite some time without really paying attention to it either.

>>1946381
>Who would be the rest of the cast?
Do you mean with regards to significance (which >>1946308 portrays) or with regard to character? Because if we're talking characterisation, Mako would be Rey, and Korra would be Finn, with Asami being Po and Bolin being BB8. And just like in LoK, in Star Wars, I'm rooting for the gay end to avoid the Mary Sue being paired with the best character.
>Who would be TR-8R?

I think Cousin Tu would be more interested in fighting Mako for Prince Wu than fucking him.
>>1946506
>Isn't that the one pairing that goes hand in hand with Finn/Poe?
True dat. And I hope it happens, because much like Korra and Asami (and if I'm being completely honest, Korra and Bolin in Book One), Finn and Po had far more chemistry in their few scenes together than what seems to be to be the anointed pairing.
>Asami being Po
Yiss.
>>1946375
>>1946499
I always figured that the whole "bolt stopping" thing was basically his best trick; it's not exactly uncommon for a force-user to be good at one or two things but not especially good overall.
it's a GREAT trick for shock effect and inspiring fear, which is what a darksider wants PLUS it generally makes him look a LOT more badass than he really is, which is perfect for somebody who's actually kind of a scrub
I cringe every time a tumbrina compares Korra to Rey.
>>1946633
For me, Rey beating Ren wasn't my main issue; just the straw that broke the camel's back. As referenced here >>1943911 she's presented as being , to quote Mary Poppins, practically perfect in every way throughout the movie. She's a savant pilot, engineer, linguist, force user and fighter, whom BB8, Finn, Han Solo and Chewie all immediately think is awesome and amazing. BB8 becomes instantly loyal. Finn instantly infatuated. Han knows her for a few hours offers her a permanent position on the Falcon. Chewie is expressly said to like herand happily becomes her first mate after Han dies.Orange Yoda all but tells her she's space jesus.
It's just too in our face, considering she has zero charisma and the personality of a bowl of wet paste.
>>1946639
>BB8 becomes instantly loyal
To be fair the way I see it BB8 is kind of a little kid, so I guess that makes sense.
>>1946633
>which is perfect for somebody who's actually kind of a scrub
Thing is, the two times we actually see him fight is against the heroes. And one time he's injured pretty bad so much that he has to hit himself so that he stays awake due to the pain. Obviously he wouldn't win that one because Abrams is a hack. So how competent he actually is can't be shown because Rey HAS to win after all.
>>1946492
Well, whatever self-training Luke did, it can't have been very effective. He can barely do a little telekinesis at the beginning of ESB.
>>1946639
>BB8 becomes instantly loyal.
Why wouldn't it? It needed help and Rey saved it.
>Finn instantly infatuated.
He's a former slave soldier starting out on his own. Of course he's going to fall for the first woman he sees, and adopt the first guy he meets as his best friend.
>Han knows her for a few hours offers her a permanent position on the Falcon
Why wouldn't you hire a competent worker, especially when she probably reminds you of your disappeared best human friend and doesn't really have a place to go?
>It's just too in our face, considering she has zero charisma and the personality of a bowl of wet paste.
If you watch Episode IV, you'll note Luke saves the galaxy almost single-handedly in his first space battle piloting a strange ship and by using the Force to make a shot that's too difficult for the computer.
His personality consists of basic decency and longing for adventure. He didn't become nuanced until ESB.
>>1946251
>LoK4:GunsoftheLesbians
LS is blatant freemium gone wrong, but I appreciate some gems of effort like cleaning up the movesets and making the characters even more revealing than anyone even asked for.
Sometimes fighting a series of 2edgy4you enemies in near-bottomless, extremely revealing battle gear, and beating the dog shit out of they-ass makes up for the rest of the bullshit.
>>1946375
It was pretty obvious from that one scene at the cantina that Rey's memory had been wiped. It's very possible that she had years of jedi training as a child that had been erased before she was deserted. Also she's probably the daughter of Luke, who is like the biggest Garystu of all
>>1946742
>His personality consists of basic decency and longing for adventure
And Rey is pretty much the polar opposite in terms of "longing for adventure" since she wanted to get her ass back to Jakku because "muh family". The big problem is that her actress was pretty much the worst of the cast. But from what I gathered she's also the only no-name in the cast too whose career so far consisted of one-note roles on TV.
>>1946771
>Not fishy at all?
At least Rey never uses the Force to become more precise than a computer and thus save the galaxy.
>she wanted to get her ass back to Jakku because "muh family".
Stage two of the Hero's Journey, the refusal of the call. Luke does it too, until the Empire conveniently kills his family and he never mentions them again.
>>1946742
>It needed help and Rey saved it.
Finn helps it too, but it has to be convinced to trust him.
> Of course he's going to fall for the first woman he sees,
Why? Just because he's been brought up a stormtrooper doesn't make him mentally a child. He's likely romantically naive, but considering there are female stormtroopers he's probably been working woth his whole life, and his direct boss is hardass lady stormtrooper, I doubt he puts women on a pedestal.
>adopt the first guy he meets as his best friend.
That pairing actually has great chemistry. And it wasn't "best friend" as much as "only friend". Han and Chewie only tolerated him and he knew no one else in the Rebell... I mean, Resistance.
>Why wouldn't you hire a competent worker
She's not competent; she's better than Han and Chewie combined.
>especially when she probably reminds you of your disappeared best human friend
Do you mean Luke or Lando? Because she's like neither. Both were kind of fuck-ups. Luke is wide-eyed and idealistic and begins his journey as something of a brat. Lando is a smooth-talking realist with a conscience that eventually gets the better of him. Rey is... she's, uh... a white woman? She is talented at everything, and her interests include... waiting on Jakku?
>If you watch Episode IV, you'll note Luke saves the galaxy almost single-handedly
You mean as a unheralded part of a whole team of pilots that still would have failed if not for Han Solo's direct intervention?
in his first space battle piloting a strange ship and by using the Force to make a shot that's too difficult for the computer.
> piloting a strange ship
He still has SOME experience piloting before that,
>by using the Force to make a shot that's too difficult for the computer.
No; the computer was perfectly capable of doing it. That was why it was there. Why do you think the Rebellion commanders freak out when Luke shuts it off? Obi Wan just wanted to make a point to Luke.
>>1946962
>No; the computer was perfectly capable of doing it
During the briefing, one of the rebel pilots says making such a shot is impossible for a computer. The guy who gets a shot in before Luke uses his computer and fails. There's a clear implication Luke could only have made it with the aid of the Force.
Is this a Star Wars thread now I thought this was about korra and asami being happy in lesbians with each other, whats wrong with /u/?
>>1946972
And Luke himself tells him the shot is perfectly doable since he knows it from his experience with womb rats on Tattoine which are also roughly the same size as the vent.
>>1946976
We do this this sometimes here. Getting sidetracked yapping about another series, be it Mass Effect, Fate stay/night, Silent Hill, the Witcher (if you're one of those three anons), etc.
Tends to happen in the weeks following news, when we have nothing new to chat about. Earlier this month we had some comic info and the anniversary to talk about. Hopefully, Bryan gives us some info regarding whatever that project hinted at back on the 19th was.
>>1947194
You're correct, but that typo conjured horrifying images in my brain.
>>1946976
>image
>dat fucking duck
>every single time
>>1947194
Unless shooting those rats involves making his projectile do a 90 degree turn down a narrow hatch, I don't really know how Luke's example is supposed to be relevant. Surely the presumably experienced X Wing pilot knows their fighters' capabilities better than some random farm boy.
>>1947295
Considering that Luke's biggest thing was that he took down the Death Star whereas Rey has a pretty huge list of things she did I think that comparision falls flat already.
Like mentioned, Luke wasn't able to suddenly overpower someone already trained in the Force. Most of that shit took him more than one movie.
>>1947295
Imagine if Luke did that Death Star shot (but had never piloted or shot at anything before), and also:
>earned Leia's immediate undying love
>instantly earned Han and Chewbacca's respect by being the bestest at everything and being able to fix the Millennium Falcon better than they could (that actually sounds comical, now that I think about it)
>used the Jedi Mind Trick (that it took him years to master enough just to use on a scrub like Bib Fortuna) to convince the stormtroopers to let them go rather than having to make an exciting escape
>avenged Obi Wan's death by defeating Darth Vader
>met Yoda in the first movie and had Yoda tell him how important he was
>>1946976
>korra and asami being happy in lesbians with each other
That just makes me happy to think about.
>>1947528
That is probably one of the most accurately drawn pics when it comes to their faces,
>>1947518
Luke in ANH isn't that far off from what you describe. Obi-Wan becomes his instant mentor (and tells him how important he is), Leia likes him immediately and kisses him twice, and his farm boy charm is enough to make Han change his entire outlook on life. Rey is more powerful than Luke, sure, but they're in the same ballpark.
>>1947518
As for Chewie and Han having trouble repairing the Falcon, they've never been depicted as particularly mechanically adept. Their half of ESB happens precisely because they can't fix the ship or even figure out what's wrong with it.
