Badly. It's Himegami that had the good end.
Would make a nice anime, too.

Amnesian ends like that.
Himegami, meanwhile, ends with Himeko pretending to be evil for a while, then reuniting with Chikane and defeating the villains. At the end both survive and are together.

Who was the fake Slutkane? The girl whom Himeko saved/took care of initially, or the seemingly powerful one who appeared out of nowhere to snatch Himeko? (It's been awhile since I read it, and only what's available on Dynasty). Did the Chikane and Himeko who died became lovers in the course of the story?

Slutkane is the protagonist, the one appearing since the 1st chapter (and who is actually the goddess who is seen together with the real Chikane and Himeko in the flashback chapter), the Chikane appearing at the end is the real one.
After all the ending could have been worse. Luckily we is revealed that Slutkane has nothing to do with the real Chikane and at the end the real yuri couple is back fucking each other in the heavens and nobody cares about what happens to the fake one.
The manga was never intended to be yuri to begin with, the point was just to give het fanservice fans a fake slutty het Chikane to fantasize with. Kaishaku could just have said it from the beginning, saving us several raging threads here...

Yes, and she was apparently trying to kill gods. Probably for cursing them to endlessly reincarnate and kill each other or to nip Orochi early without sacrificing Himeko or herself.

Anime ChikaHime. Chikane is probably my most favorite anime lesbian ever; looks, personality, including that hairband.
Kaon and Himiko was rather nice, but they are spinoff-ish, so their story has less impact.

As one of 3 people who actualy read Himegami I'd say these versions of Chikane and Himeko are my favorite.
Himeko has distinctive personality rather than just being cute, naive ordinary girl. I liked Chikane's internal conflict in Himegami more and progression of her feelings for Himeko felt natural.
Also, I liked the meeting at the photo booth, I thought it was really well done. I'm sucker for these kind of scenes.

They talk about going back. At that time in the story ancient evil should have arised already but for some reason still haven't. Everything might be just a fable so they will bet on understanding from other party or die together.
