Eli+Umi=Kanan (Ayase) Matsuura. Her name 果南 comes from the characters of Godparents 高板 (Kousaka) 南 (Minami)
Nico+Maki=Dia and Ruby (Nishikino) Kurosawa. They named their daughters after their gemstones. Maki is working as a doctor in Uchiura.
Rin+Hanayo=Hanamaru (Hoshizora) Kunikida. Friends with Ruby through her parents.
Anju+Erena=Riko (Toudou) Sakurauchi. Has Erena's hair.

Personally, the music in S2 took time to grow on me, though that may depend on your tastes as well. Plus, the remastered version of Snow Halation is absolutely glorious, tying in to the plot (which also, according to the cast and staff coincidentally paralleled the real-life situation of the heavy snowfall at the 4th Live).

Isn't she just? What she is talking about is actually quite heartwarming, yet they're all cracking up because of her. Rippi, Shikaco and Mimorin especially, since they were standing the closest to her.
To put it briefly, Pile was floundering because she couldn't recall when they first performed Bokura wa Ima no Naka de during the first live. The idea was that they didn't even know how the first live would go, at that time; and she initially was "on her own" (her solo work), but now she has so much support from her fellow members and their fans. It's all the more poignant when we consider that she's mentioned a few times how she might have given up on her solo career if not for passing the Love Live auditions and "meeting" Maki.

Pandering is Rippi in a wedding dress with Shikaco walking her down the aisle. Shikaco left dumbstruck by Rippi in the wedding dress, as discussed on NicoRinPana, is not. Them play-fighting with light sticks when they think the camera has pointed elsewhere is not.
See also: these nerds behind quite possibly the biggest pairing in the franchise, who also happen to ship it. But when out of character, beyond Nico and Maki, their affection for each other still shows through, even if sometimes in bizarre or joking ways. The same applies to any of the other CV pairings, fans who ship them must come to differentiate the real-life people from their characters eventually.

Encore 62°C is another circle that I like which does mostly NicoMaki. DB, the artist, is more inclined towards deadpan humor than the kind of cuddly domesticity in Karuha's works. It goes well with the plotlines building up Nico and Maki's eventual romance, though, and the book previewed at http://www.pixiv.net/member_illust.php?mode=medium&illust_id=49880019 is an instance of the reliable side of Nico and sensitive dere side of Maki that is often overlooked. DB also has a good handle on the other members; 秘密のディナー is an interesting take on the possibility that Kotori and Maki knew each other as small rich children.

Separately, this is literally ancient news, but I came across some old posts from Emitsun which shed some light on her elusive relationship with Meguchii (who voices Tsubasa), which most of us only learned about when Emitsun mentioned on Fight Club that they go way back.
This is only a mere hint of just how far back: http://nittaemi.exblog.jp/13902559/ getting drunk at a year-end party in 2010. Even then Emitsun was already saying they get along well. They're close in age and height and share a passion for music, too. It's adorable.
Meguchii even impressed Emitsun with Valentine's cookies around the time Mogyutto was released. Seems like μ's aren't the only ones where the characters have some resemblance to their voice actresses!

I also don't know why most artists tend to forgo that either. (or maybe not most, but rarely any doujin translated here shows this). The anime doesn't show this but in the SID you can see Maki playing the role of the cute little kouhai while Nico be the reliable senpai.
Let's just say Nico is good at taking care of kids, and Maki is secretly still a kid at heart,

I wouldn't say the anime makes those aspects of them completely nonexistent, but that it's likely to miss them unless you go in specifically looking.
The SIDs, being narrated from the characters' perspectives, just make these sides of them more obvious, such as when Maki essentially is sulking because she's insecure the other members didn't invite her to hang out, or her trying to come off as nonchalant about following Nico's blog and forum activity.
One of the things in the movie which stood out for me is how Nico, despite often being comedic relief, and the running gag of her being prompted to make some Important Buchou Speech at times when she isn't expecting it; also shows the kind of sensible "awareness" (for lack of a better word) that we're used to seeing from Soramaru when she's MCing. Like when Eli moves the topic of discussion to exploring New York while Umi was freaking out and being against it, and Nico immediately proposes a group vote to push things along.

Uh, no? Fall literally opens with Nico visiting Maki for their evening date and sleepover. There are flashbacks to them blowing up at each other in the past, and apparently they're in an underground relationship while Maki still has to go for matchmaking. But Nico also mentions that "the rough times are over", and the atmosphere of their interactions is mellow and very domestic.
The last spoken line in the book is "Shall we move in together?" which presumably is from Maki to Nico.

Nozomi though is one of the fittest characters. Its said in her SID that she and Eli participated and dominated the school sports festival if I recall. Eli may be athletic, but it takes two to really do good at sports events so Nozomi isn't as lazy as people may think.

Nozomi has plenty of lazy tendencies, like leaving her vacation homework until the last minute, literally forgetting about finals, etc. Not to mention that her hobby is napping. However, it is true that there is a common phenomenon of dismissing or assuming Nozomi is fat. Must be the boobs. She's also very good at swimming that the swimming club even tried to recruit her in one of her SID chapters. The anime even showed us a bit of how competitive they are in that air hockey match. There's also a chapter from the SIF main story where it mentions Nozomi waking up early to clean up the shrine every morning before their practice.
We're talking about someone who juggles school, student council work, shrine maiden work, and dance practice everyday. If people still want to call her "fat" and/or "lazy" despite all of that then so be it.

Fanon likes to see Nozomi getting embarrassed and being the one who "receives" love because they don't get to see it often in canon, I guess. Of all the possible things that could go wrong, Eli's name is the biggest of your concerns?
That whether they can pick a voice cast which sounds similar to the original 9 is probably more important. Of course there will inevitably be comparisons drawn to μ's as we know them, but theirs is even more of a unique case in that the singing voices are in-character. Just compare, for instance, Ucchi's or Soramaru's normal voices, singing on non-LL releases, and as Kotori and Nico respectively. If the English-speaking cast don't sound close enough to the original cast, the songs will be out of place.
