Fun show, kiss scenes great, bewildering number of people misunderstand the ending, manga scanlations MIA forever.

People want them because they are the only good part of the series.
The main pair is as disabled as it can get. There is absolutely nothing you can get out of them since one is a gluttonous, genuinely stupid person, who has the mental age of a 4-year old, spiced up with jealousy issues, while the other is a socially inept pervert, who is as thick as a neutron star.
Mitsuki kaichou is out of the loop, since she shlicks to Haruka every night and Rina also has a one-sided crush on Mitsuki.
Now that covers 2/3rd of the whole manga, there are the rest: the married couple and the manzai couple. While the married couple provides true satisfaction, they don't have many scenes and they are stagnant, they don't go anywhere.
That's why people look forward to Yuzu and Kaede, because that's where they can expect some development. And since they are comic relief characters, their relationship is more ligthearted than the others.
People always wish for more, that's why they look forward to the interactions of characters, who are not together yet.

Yuzu is so dense she doesn't even deserve the name Yuzu. In the 5th volume Kaede keep sending clear signals and Yuzu doesn't understand shit. Worst character so far.
When Kaede explained why she'd become class rep, I kept waiting for her to deliver a punchline. But she didn't and I realized that cringeworthy shit was entirely supposed to be serious.
I don't often say this, but I prefer them as friends to provide contrast.

Meanwhile we have Kaede who is very enjoyable to watch thanks to her prankster antics and she has absolutely great chemistry with Yuzu who is also a rather likable character as well. They are the best freaking thing about the whole franchise.

This show was cute, but I honestly can't care about their pairing more than any other pairing I want to see, hetero or yuri, because they just didn't give you enough reason to. All the kissing and camera shots legitimately took time away from fleshing out their personalities.

So Tachi announced today that she will have a new serialization on Kirara Forward called "soukaku kankei". No idea how long this is going to run but she said a while a ago that she really wanted to draw a full blown manga rather than 4-komas, so I guess her wish came true. Sakura Trick will also continue alongside the new manga.

Yuu has recently decided that she wants a relationship for real (she was unsure until recently), and made it clear to Haruka the ball is on her court. I don't know how long it will take for Haruka to come to terms with her own feelings though. I think the story will focus on the other character for a while before coming back to Haruka.
I'm sure they get together for real at some point. It probably will happen at the very end though.

Wife & Wife, the yuri works of Fujieda Miyabi, maybe play Sono Hanabira. The director of the SonoHana OVA also worked on Sakura Trick.
You've got stuff like Kanamemo which is way more wacky and manic and raunchy, and Candy Boy which is much more subdued, but really, even outside of the yurispace there's really not a lot of anime like Sakura Trick where the couple is established at the outset, the romantic threshold is crossed in the opening minutes, and the show is just about the two romantic leads spending time with each other and figuring out stuff. It's much more conducive to just parade a bunch of waifus to express shallow interest in the generic male lead. But enough about coddling and herbivore male culture.

If Sakura Trick is your threshold for innocence, then holy shit.
Like I mentioned earlier, Fujieda Miyabi keeps it mostly wholesome and there's often a naive ingenue girl, but if you like the idea of sexual awakening then Morishima Akiko's pretty prolific and briskly paced in the stuff of hers that stars teen girls.
