Are there any other good films or television shows about male companionship? Rome kept me watching just to see the relationship between these two evolve.

I also loved watching the friendship between Vorenus and Pullo in Rome.
For a tv show, I would recommend Justified for Raylan and Boyd, except for the fact they're actually sort of enemies. But when they are both on screen, they are absolutely electrifying to watch.
For films I would Recommend Master and Commander.
And also Mikey and Nicky with John Cassavetes and Peter Falk.
Just choose to become gay. It's the ultimate male companionship. The Greeks knew this.

A lot of war movies / shows have this general tone as well. Generation Kill was a pretty good series, also Fury.
If they ever made Women in Love by DH Lawrence into a movie, it would be the ultimate film about male companionship.
