If it weren't for the fact that everyone was plotting against one another in the third film Jack wouldn't have even had the opportunity to stab Davy Jones' heart.

I rewatched The Mummy recently and did see him in a pretty new perspective. He and his girlfriend got fucked over really bad by some asshole. Of course all his actions after being resurrected weren't excusable though. He killed people and kidnapped an innocent woman.
