ITT Perfect casting
>>71980920
Wrong pic.
>>71980920
Not quite perfect since based viggo is more impressive irl then fictional aragorn was in universe.
>>71980920
getting this out of the way
>>71980953
Various other actors could have filled several of those roles. I'd actually have liked to have seen a Christopher Lee Gandalf as it was originally intended. Not to say McKellan does a bad job.
>>71981018
MOM'S
>>71980920
that shit blue version
>>71981044
No, you're wrong and suck dicks (in a bad sense).
Lee is inherently better at being a villain.
>>71981044
i have to agree with >>71981114. Lee seems more villainous than McKallen
>>71981114
>Lee is inherently better at being a villain.
And that somehow means he would make a bad Gandalf?
Anyway, I just want to see him playing Gandalf for a few scenes. That's the way Tolkien would have wanted it. I'm fine with the roles they had.
>>71980991
It's easier to point out wrong casting rather than good on GoT most of the time, i even think CIA is good as LF, just his direction and habits are terrible
>>71981114
You sound like a faggot desu
>>71981044
>as it was originally intended.
I do know that lee was a huge fan of tolkien and after spilling his spaghetti all over him tolkien told him he would be a perfect gandalf. I don't know that he was ever going to be gandalf in the jackson trilogy.
Based christopher lee... RIP in peace.

I am, senpai.
>>71981209
Do you remember his 'I'm sooo soooorry?' when he first met Sansa after her escape? It jarring how out of place and laughable overacted it was.
>>71981311
>It's
>laughably
Damn.
>>71981114
Gandalf should have been portrayed as a villain. He isn't fighting for what is right- an extremely nebulous notion given the greater story-line- he's fighting an old foe from many wars before, a foe that was once his brother. Gandalf is playing every side to get what he wants. Lee's character is just doing what he always did, trying to maintain the old way of things. That old way being what happened after the really big wars decided a thousand years at least before. Gandalf is a loose cannon. He invented the Time of Men just to spike his old adversaries.
>>71981359
Bill Nighy is perfect in everything he does desu
>>71981359
why did Underworld have to turn into shit after the first movie ? The first one was so comfy, I loved the gothic atmosphere, mixed with with fucked up post soviet eastern europe
without a shadow of a doubt
>>71981450
because all fucking vampire movies drawn inspiration from Vampire the Masquerade, but we will never see a fucking real adaptation because some people hate money
Looked like the real Robert Ford and was perfect at playing a creepy faggot.
Shia Lebouf was actually considered for this role
>>71981450
The first one is kind of shit too though.
>>71980920
>>71980920
>Vin Diesel
>Nicolas Cage
Holy shit. This movie could've turned to utter shit so fast because of one miscast.
Glad Viggo got the role. Perfect for it.
Same for the Matrix with Keanu. Smith would've overacted.
>>71981311
There are several moments where he completely overacts. That doesn't mean that he does not have good scenes though.
I always found pic related far worse.
There was not a single moment where she didn't come off as an annoying cunt with zero talent.
She should have kept doing porn.
>>71981504
I'd pay to see Cage hamming it up and screaming during the Helms Deep charge

He was reportedly considered and Diesel at the time wasn't famous as XXX or Fast and Furious Torino plus he's a huge fantasy geek. Guy actually read the book but he wouldn't have fit the part.

They are so funny exactly because they are true. Some time Littlefinger just strayed from a sneaky scheming guy to a full-blown meme character à la CIA.
>>71981504
I'm pretty sure Vin would have done better than shit. Worse than Viggo, yeah, but not utter shit.
Vin's a huge nerd, so he would probably know enough about Arargorn to pull it off.
>>71981843
yes
>>71981801
the only thing that was actually done right in thee Hobbit
How can other actors even compete?Jack Nicholson was also pretty alright in that role.
>>71981801
hes a great actor, loved him in fargo
>>71981741
lol thanks for those.
I like to imagine that whenever Littlefinger and Varys have one of those "meaningfull" dialogues the actors just wonder what the pretentious shit they were handed that week is even supposed to mean.

>>71981843
100% perfect.
>>71982178
Tolkien promised Lee the role of Gandalf if he ever allowed a film to be made during his life time.
>>71982013
They know exactly what it means. A good actor is a deeply disturbed individual. Unless he or she is absurdly gifted. I can't name a living one off the top of my head, that's alive I mean. And the dead ones I think of were like that too. James Dean was amazingly gifted.
>>71981009
Viggo maybe, but Movie Aragorn.. not entirely
Movie Aragorn:
>Iduno..
>My path.. its clouded..
>I'm not sure..
>I guess I should be King
>Alright, I am the King
Book Aragorn:
>I'm the King, get the fuck out of my way
>I'm the King, get the fuck out of my way
>I'm the King, get the fuck out of my way
>Stupid fuck didn't you hear me? I'm the fucking KING!

The best Sherlock Holmes.
It annoys that normies thinks of Battlefield Counterstrike or Robert Downey JUNIOR when you mention Sherlock Holmes.
>>71982245
Nailed it. Kind of like how they ruined the character of Gandalf.
>>71982294
hehe, is that Frank?
Viggo hold my hand,
He was so good in these movies.

Again, direction faults, that read is retarded, but his descent into full meme really started S3 where he went from being kinda shady to full blown "evil", aka when the writing/directors started to lose it.
>>71982818
Ya, but I always imagined Goodman in the role, too. First thing I thought, actually.
>>71982818

>>71981266
Man, what a disappointing movie. So much potential.
>>71982926
>Implying they'll adapt the subplots and not just TW3's garbage main plot
It'll be just like Game of Thrones and have 95% of the dialogue cut. Don't really know why they need a movie adaption anyhoo, the game's enough of a movie already. Not that that's a bad thing, but damn did it play like shit.
>>71981351
So Gandalf is actually the villain IF you count stuff written well after the original material aka he was retconned to be the villain? Fuck that (by that i mean fuck Tolkien)
>>71982524
It's ok anon
>>71982490
>>71982681

>>71983209

>>71983053
Nope I'm one of those guys who've read everything repeatedly. Have you read The Silmarillion? Gandalf is old school, man. He's seen literally everything happen in that world, he was there before his boss made the world. He's conservative to the utmost. He's a manipulator who's personal agendas couldn't be understood my men, let alone elves. He lies to everyone, manipulates everyone, in order to best his old rival. He doesn't fucking care about shit anymore. Sauromon did though. He had seen a peace in the world, and despite war, was willing to play dirty to maintain that peace. Gandalf didn't fucking care. His way or else. And he got his way.
>>71981977

Barely.
If they had any sense, they'd cut and rework the entire flashback exposition.
One thing I love in my movies is when Act V is tacked on so some random guy can explain the Antagonist's motives in black & white flashbacks.

>>71983268
Gandalf could have just given the Ring to the elves and let them kill the Enemy, he always knew exactly where it was. But he didn't. He let the weakest of the weak do his dirty work. And in effect, removed the world of the best it had- the elves said fuck this we're going to heaven. And left the world in a mire of shit with people like you and me to sort it all out. Why did he do that? Cause someone told him he couldn't, that it should be done better, for everyone. He resented the elves, resented his maker.
No one else could have pulled it off.
>>71983422
no one else wanted to do it also
>>71983375
Too cliched and slav-oriented. Music is top-tier though
>>71981044
Lee as Gandalf and McKellan as Saruman could have been dope, but what we got was still perfect

for me he made Bilbo too hateable. perfect in Fargo though, where he's using the exact same mannerisms only you're supposed to dislike him

Perfectly nails the dichotomy between Idi Amin:
A constant morph between a big buffoon-like character to a hyper intense and murderous warlord

Yea, I also thought Vigo's depiction of Aragorn was too wishy washy. He seemed overly distraught and confused most of the time. I get that they were trying to emphasize his character development for the mass audience, but imo it would have been cooler if he just was more kingly from the get-go, as in the books, instead of trying to make him into a more typical protagonist.
>>71982612
Gandalf is portrayed largely portrayed as a kind, benevolent old man most of the time. In the books he was much more of a crabby old fart of a wizard, who had a heart of gold that only shone through from time to time. I prefer the stricter, meaner portrayal of Gandalf. It's just more Wizardly and less grandpa-y.

well he's definitely not the shampoo model you see in the Jackson films. He's over 80 and even for part-Numenoreans this is after middle age, and most of the time he wanders the wild, eating rabbits and berries. Frodo initially think she's some sort of a thief
