It's pretty rad. They got a lot done with an obviously tiny budget, and it's cool how Carpenter films the gang laying siege almost spectre-like. All of the quiet moments are eerie, and you never know when the next attack will happenand certain characters you expect to survive don't.
For my money, it's Carpenter's best score. Minimalistic and sparse but ultra-catchy when it kicks in.

They shot the whole thing relatively quickly. Anyway, I still think the idea behind The Purge movies could work - they need to make them more like John Carpenter movies (AKA a small group of survivors attempts to make it through chaos). Part 2 was a step in the right direction - Frank Grillo is based - but I'm not sure what they're going for with this next one.
