Curiously though, I've been hearing that the trailers represent some of the worst parts of just an average movie.
The reviews calling it good all feature the same "screw the haters" rhetoric, seemingly unaware that Sony stoked the fires. And, if the deliberately bad trailers idea is true; maybe sony played us all for fools from the start?

Haven't seen it yet so I don't have a personal opinion of the film but I was annoyed to see the "it's a feminist movie fuck you men for hating it" tirade over the last few months. Seeing it actually turn out with positive scores makes me think that the people are going to continue calling us out for being sexist because we said the movie looks bad and now have arguments like "see men? Your petty sexist ways did not affect this great movie, feminism wins!"

I agree with this. You cannot judge a movie based on the trailers. Just look at Batman V Superman for instance. The trailers make it out to be a non stop action thriller but in reality it is a political drama with some action in some scenes.
I haven't seen Ghostbusters (2016) yet but I do have hope it will be better than what the trailers show us (especially with a comedy which tries to cram lots of jokes into a 2 minute trailer) but then yeah until you see the full feature you cannot judge it.

This shit sucks because it doesn't look like Ghostbusters, it looks like a goofy cartoon parody of Ghostbusters.
Every character is over the top, the conflict and villain are over the top, the weapons are over the top, the ghosts/CGI is over the top, the jokes are AWWW HELL NAW GET OUTTA MY FRIEND GHOST, and the amount of winks and nods/references that are apparently in there is over the top.
It's like a movie making fun of a classic that's near and dear to my heart.
It especially when the original premise of the first movie was taking something as CRAZY as a group of people hunting ghosts with laser beams and turning them into super mundane, boring glorified janitors. That was the entire joke, and this new remake completely misses the mark on that and lacks any and all of the subtly or nuance that made the original Ghostbusters so great.
But because they made the "progressive choice of making it a cast of all females... I MEAN THE FUNNIEST ACTORS WORKING IN HOLLYWOOD PERIOD (that Sony could afford on a budget) which is totally not a gimmick we swear", I guess that excuses it.
