So guise what's your feelings towards the show after the first ep ?

I'd say it was pretty good especially when it comes to atmosphere and the depiction of the police, however the face of main hero kinda annoys me but i think he fits his role well .

No idea what this is.

New show on HBO

>>71902147
Really dig it. The protagonist seems fine to me since he has that meek look to him that fits his personality. I agree with the atmosphere completely. The entire time at the Police Station felt really uncomfortable to me with the dim lighting. Really made me feel nervous with the lead.

i also like that when he was undressed by the police-his body was nothing special, not even slightly built, he's just a little skinny. It's just a detail but it was somehow important to me

The Night of WHAT????????????
>>
Just saw the first EP and it was really good, the actors are great, really liked that black witness smelling weed. The atmosphere is so stressful, especially when that girl cop search him at the police station, I couldn't breathe.
Just one thing, why would that guy go downtown Manhattan without knowing where the address of the party is, or without GPS ?
>>
>>71903503
I guess the taxi didn't have a GPS in it, and he knew the address, he just didn't knew how to navigate through the town properly.

I liked that first episode a lot, but I felt like the atmosphere took a dive when they introduced the lawyer. The rest was really tense though.
>>
>>71903503
>>71903581
his friend was supposed to drive to that party so i guess naz didn't think much about the route to that place
>>
>>71902525

I gotta say the way they left the cab was a little annoying, cops could tell him to close it up.

>>71903581

Lawyer is probably going to be an awesome character.
>>
>>71904039
The lawyer ends up being the main character (or at least on part with Nasir) since he does the investigation.

Theres the actor playing Omar in the Wire later in the season
>>
Watched the trailer, is this show a race baiting thing or is it deeper than that?
>>
>>71904102
Wire fans should recognize Bodie from the pilot too.
>>
>>71904194
Yup thats why I mentionned Omar
By the way the show is co-created by one of the Wire's screenwriters
>>
>>71904192
No, not really. According to the showrunner they chose a paki as a protagonist cuz most of the taxi drivers in NYC are from south asia, Pakistan, etc.
>>
It should have been Gandolfini who plays the lawyer, how great would that be?
>>
Spoiler alert: he's found not guilty.
>>
I guess Omar is playing a gangster again? Probably beeing a suspect sooner or later. Would be funny though watching him as a detective or something like that but probably not possible with his face.
>>
>>71904463
He plays some kind of gang's chief in prison
>>
>>71902147
i kinda liked it...kinda.

I feel its just a tv version of that podcast...serial..not 100% but kinda loosely based around it, ethnic minorities caught up in situations.

also, its a crime show, so its just a re-imagining of every other damn crime show, the story will be the same and characters identical aside for better lighting, production values.

unless, the dead girl comes back to life to reveal a secret society of ghosts that are based on a lovecraftian cult that is run by billionaire satanists, and the detective turns out to be a white supremacist preacher who is cheating on his wife with a black muslim man...I dont think this show is really gonna WOW me that much.

I hope this ends up becoming an anthology series if it's good.
The episode was brilliant and am looking forward to see where it continues.
>>
There is a lingering feeling of having seen something like it before, but this shit had me biting my knuckles: The fucking realism! When he turns the light on and immediately off, but has to turn it on again. When he runs the fuck out but forgets everything including his keys and forces himself inside... When his father just runs straight from bed to the car in his nightgowns.

How the dude is just an innocent older brother who is the pride of his community.. The disappointment

Nah, it's a crime show but it's really impressive how it's so real in regards to actions and reactions. When I saw the detective, guy has a solid face for the role, solid cast. Even the policeman with the mustache and all the others too..

I can't wait to watch the rest.

>>
>>71906349

>>
>>71904590
Yeah, it's crazy how much the first episode echos Serial, from a strictly superficial standpoint anyway. I can't wait to see how the show progresses from here, from the spoilers I've seen it seems like things are going to get pretty fucked up. I don't agree with people saying it will subvert the whodunnit expectations are focus solely on the trauma that is battling the justice system. Everything about the way the episode was shot and the opening credits suggest there has to be some mystery to it and I hope that persists throughout the season.

I watched the first episode twice after reading fan theories and it's crazy how my perception changed after each viewing. Like at first I thought Andrea was suicidal when she got in Nas' cab, but the second time around it didn't feel that way at all. The hearse driver seemed like an obvious red herring on the second watch but then I noticed he didn't have the gas nozzle in his car which made me question his role in the future. I'm kind of afraid he won't be a player in the murder even though they way he was leaning up against his car was totally unnatural for someone refueling their vehicle.

Regarding the who dunnit aspect of the show I have to say there's no chance Bodie is the murderer as he was wearing the same clothes when he taunted Nas as he was when he walked back up on the crime scene. I think he'll just be a witness down the line like the limo driver should/could be.

>>
>>71906910
The scary part is all that sort of shit is what cops actually do.

If you even vaguely attempt to delay their requests they will make sure any jury or judge down the line hears all about how "uncooperative" you have been. Even though obviously its in your right to do all those things.
>>
/tv/ experts please tell me, would things go much better for The Nazz if he immediately went to the police and didn't tamper with the evidence and generally make a fool of himself?
>>
>>71906910
>without anyone reading him his Miranda rights
he told the lawyer they did read his righys though
>>
>>71907186
Honestly the whole case is flimsy as shit, splatter pattern alone alone is enough for him to walk.

No blood on his cloths or his body apart from the hand when the victim bleed all over the bed and even got blood on the lampshade.

Add to that the drugs and alcohol in his system and no prior arrests, and no jury is going to convict him.
>>
So much shit going on, with the limo driver, bodie's friend, the biker, the neighbor, the unlocked back door - also love how they greenlit this and told pizzalotso to ride some bench
>>
>>71907313
well they didn't really so much tell Pizzalotso to feck off because they have another show

This has been in production for years.
The reason James Gandolfini's name was on it as Executive Producer is because he was passionate about the project and apparently even got as far as filming the pilot with him (the role now taken by Jon Turturro)

They were all but ready to go on this but then obviously James died and they had to go back to drawing board for a while.

Would have been nice to see James have a role on HBO so vastly removed from Tony Soprano but Turturro is a fucking great actor and a worthy replacement.

It was dumb that they kept emphasizing certain moments like the camera footage at the gas station, the black guy witness, the neighbour, the break-in and all that and then they just arrest him with the murder weapon in his pocket.

What is the point of the witnesses if he has her blood on his hands and the murder weapon in his pocket.
>>

>>71908238

>>
>>71908212
>I've seen the first episode and I couldn't see shit.

You weren't supposed to, there was no nudity.

And l don't see why they'd do a flashback, tbqh. I'd like to see her tits too, but l've got a feeling this show will be more about the legal proceedings of the case than the actual murder itself.
>>
>>71908238
I guess it makes it a slam dunk case. But yeah it was painful watching the toll camera footage and the gas station footage, and the witnesses, when you knew it was just leading up to what you knew was going to happen. Everything fell into place too much, as soon as he came back to the scene in the back of that cop car I'd decided this show was pretty retarded.
>>
>>71908265
I mean, what's the point of writing the episode in a way where they introduce witnesses and all that but then none of it matters because they arrest him a block away with the murder weapon.
>>
>>71908212
We might get lucky and get one of those shots where the body is in the morgue naked and they are inspecting her.

those scenes always give me huge boners. not into dead girls so don't know why, maybe it's because I know they are alive.

>>71908333
you missed the point. it's that it was all so contrived. of course they'll be investigating further and wouldn't have that footage right away. and of course that's the story. that's the whole reason the show sucks, you know what is going to take place. the whole first episode you can basically just say what is going to happen from 20 minutes in

nah, he'll be the "cop that doesn't give up and seeks justice." he'll get a wiff of something fishy and end up being the hero detective. him and the laywer will fight for a while then they'll both get suspicious together.

meanwhile the rag head is getting fucked in jail by bbc and they'll do a whole sjw montage on how cruel the prison system is.

>IT FUCKING TAKES TIME HOLY SHIT

You are not following me, I am talking from a meta-perspective, what's the point of the witness character in your script when the "murdered" is immediately cought with the victims blood and the murder weapon.

The witness serves no purpose in your story because his entire character is superfluous

What? You fucking daft moron. This show will clearly be out the first hand police work+system and judicial system failing when everything that goes wrong for the suspect (Naz) goes wrong.

It's about the proverbial fucking journey and not your final TWEEEST.

Pic related fucking watch it
>>
>>71908371
I feel there's a bigger conspiracy involved. The girl was just too special (weird) - she's part of something bigger and now he is too. Lawyer is going to go on a quest, and the detective will be antagonistic but likely essentially help him after a while. My bet. Detective is likable even if he's currently looking to just bust his ass.
>>
>>71908244

Which is pointless because he had the fucking murder weapon in his pocket and her blood on his hands.

And they had sex

And he was picked up two blocks away

And his prints are all over the house

There is no point to a witness
>>
>>71908460
It's crime fiction, man. That's what it is. But the lessons in crime fiction aren't usually taught through the whole picture (how it all comes down), but along the journey. Show is technically well done as well; writing, screenplay, music, all done well. I'm glad for it. It's just good TV.
>>
>>71908456
Both cocaine and MDMA causes impotence
>>
>>71908498
witness helps though. the prosecution will just keep using more and more evidence to convince the jury even if they don't need all of it, they'd want to make it overwhelming.

>>71908513
a bit of cocaine and you're already. whenever i'd get blasted on a ton of coke and mdma my penis wasn't working. you could hack it by snorting a 1/4 of a viagra and then fuck but with the mdma better to just feel eachother forever and then when you come down a bit fuck.
>>
>>71908555
>witness helps though
A judge would just decline your witness proposal because it serves no purpose and even the defendant is admitting he was at the scene of the crime.
>>
It felt like a glorified episode of Law and Order with a greater commitment to realism. I'm not sure why I'm supposed to care about anything that's happening, and I think a large part of that was there was a giant Gandolfini sized hole in the episode.
>>
>>71908590
you might be right, i'm no expert on this shit. but, i think for the sake of the story they just wanted overwhelming amounts of evidence that he was there and did it.
>>
>>71908513

OK WebMD lol
>>
Anyone got some Taxi Driver vibe? Especially when the camera was angled from like the upper corner of the front of the car?

I saw that as a tribute personally. De Niro is somewhat involved in the seires too IIRC.
>>
>Arguing about witnesses

The neighbor talked to the cops on the scene, talked to Box, and he certainly gave a statement. And Bodie is still in custody, so they can talk to him whenever.

The actual evidence was a lot more important to both Box and the crime scene guys because of the sloppiness of the first responders and the way the evidence was handled at the precinct.
>>
>>71908498
Do you understand that the prints alone do nothing. Concept of circumstantial evidence mean anything to you? It's stacking that on top of each other, since there are 0 witnesses to the murder. That's the gist, when everything goes haywire for the suspect, what happens?

If you can't place Naz at the fucking crime scene during the time of murder you have no case, prints or no prints in the house. They now have two (basically three if Bodies senpai shows up) placing him in the house during the time of the murder.

>had sex.
Where
>Two blocks away
so what, means nothing alone.
if you don't have the two witnesses.

now the murder weapon is another story lamo but you still need to place him there during time of death or the defendent lawayer will just cook up reasonable doubt case through some magic

>>
>>71908700
^ This. Police got a whole lot of circumstantial evidence, and I doubt that's actually the murder weapon. Also I bet the lawyer gets a lot of evidence thrown out because the chain got fucked up
