Dunno, but I liked it too. Kind of lacked the touch of rawness and "innovation" the first one presented, but it was actually a far better movie as far as cinematography and coreography went.

I liked the characters and the whole getting clean on drugs plot with it.
While I enjoyed the movie, I just didn't find it scary, gore is unnerving, but not scary, and it clearly wasn't supposed to be funny either.

In my opinion horror should be more about character development. Good characters in a bad situation is a lot scarier than no character in a gory situation.

Honestly, thats why Stephen King books dont make good movies a lot. Stephen King is pretty much a character writer. He fully flushes out his characters while all the scary stuff just happens around them. It's more about the characters than it is about what is scary.

Agree with you there. I think the only decent one was the Mist, which was just characters, for the most part. Ironically, I think a lot of classic horror movies from the seventies and the eighties are far better at this than today movies are.

Original plan was to do another movie with Campbell's Ash and then tie their stories together in a third part. Instead they put together a series based on the continuity of the first two movies from 80s, but Campbell's a big defender of the 2013 installment so there could be some tie-in or followup on that series.

I don't know. Freddy vs Jason would have been good but they didn't really connect the two at all. It just felt like a Nightmare movie that Jason wandered intoand popped out from every corner in without making any sound.
Though I haven't seen the new Godzilla and I'm concerned about rebooting Kong for the third(?) time, dat kaijuverse is gonna be worth keeping an eye on.

I thought the female lead was really good at acting scared, the rest of the characters were shallow as fuck but it had a few good moments - I just thought they should upped the gore way, way higher. Evil Dead for the new age should've been the bloodbath the original was back then. It should've been a non stop dismemberment-fest

It's a script for a fourth movie they stretched to tearing point to turn into a 10 part season. As a result there's entire episodes that could have been written out with minimal effort and the story would have played out the same.
Have a bit of hope for season 2 as it was actually written with the intention of being a season from day one.

I think Ash vs Evil Dead series nixed any 2013 movie sequel plans.
Anything's possible, though, maybe once Ash wraps up they could go back to it.
