Anyone can get jacked so that's not a problem, the tall stuff can be worked around with a camera so that's not a problem.
Hauer would work because he is actually good actor, I would much rather look him as Guts than Dolph because Dolph could never act that good. One of the reasons movies and shows today are shit is because more and more roles are chosen because of looks and not because of acting ability, people should go to theatre once in a while whee the effects and costumes are minimal and everything depends of the actor and the audiences imagination.

I think the plot should be early golden age, this might trigger fanboys but it is the only hope of this appealing to a wider audience
obviously you can't have the entire golden age arc, just the beginning to introduce the characters, the plot, the philosophy and Griffith's obsession with his "dream" through minor struggles, finishing with a battle against a demon which is the only supernatural thing they encounter (besides the spooky behelit). it should be grimdark, to get a lower rating maybe it should be "implied" that guts was buttraped and berserk hoed himself out for provisions for his troops, it should delve into the philosophy
an alternative might be a low budget "slice of berserk" set after the eclipse with mainly guts and pals fighting demons, kind of like the resident evil movies, the plot arc would be introducing guts who BTFOs some thugs being cruel to some peasants, then the other characters are introduced as well as the medieval world they live in is expanded on a bit, they discover shit is going down somewhere and go off to sort it out, they encounter trouble and are split up and guts is imprisoned/unconscious, the other characters save guts who recovers then proceeds to beat the living shit out of the demons, the last scene is guts BTFOing more thugs then walking off implying that this is an ongoing thing
