Does Halloween have the most chills-inducing ending of all horror movies? Everytime Loomis looks down the balcony and finds Michael survived the whole magazine from his revolver and his gone, and the theme starts playing sends chills up my spine like nothing else.

Black Christmas beats it for me.

>*slow pan up to the attic*
>"Agnes, its me, Billy"
>*phone rings over credits*
>>
>>71813528
It is a perfect ending.
>>
>>71813660

Just dropping by, the underrated, unappreciated Halloween.

That's what smoking nonstop for most of your life will do to you. He finally quit one or two years ago.

Seriously though, halloween is a classic

Halloween (1978) >>> Halloween II (1981) > Halloween III: Season of the Witch > Halloween H20: 20 Years Later = Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers >>> Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers > Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers > dog shit > Halloween (2007) = Halloween Resurrection

I haven't seen Halloween II (2009).
>>
>>71813528
I especially enjoy the final shots of Haddonfield, showcasing that Michael could be anywhere.
>>
>>71814098
Don't watch Halloween II... it's fucking garbage at its maximum opus
>>
>>71814098
Alright, while I do agree that H3 is severely underrated (I have been of this opinion since my childhood), there's no way in hell it's better than H2O and H6. Let's be real.
>>
>>71814139
H3 is definitely better than H6
>>
>>71814139
>H2O
Okay, maybe I'm getting a bit carried away.
>H6
Seriously? Not even the producer's cut redeems that film. H3 is a fun b-movie that has some really unique ideas, H6 is a generic slasher that adds some really retarded mythos to Michael.

i think The Descent has one of the best horror endings of all time

Jack Frost is the greatest horror movie of all time.

I was at the show, but I didn't get to meet him. Please let me live vicariously through your experience.
>>
>>71813528
it certainly has the most chills-inducing directing.
>>
>>71813789
no one cares sperg
>>
>>71813660
watched this for first time the other day (im going through the slasher genre)

that ending was fucking great
>>
>>71813798
This. The theory of Chiles being the thing makes that ending even better.

>Chiles disappears near the end
>MacReady makes a bunch of molotovs out of gasoline
>kills the thing
>place explodes
>Chiles shows back up and MacReady asks him where he was
>says he got lost in the blizzard
>bullshit for a bit
>MacReady hands Chiles a bottle of booze
>Chiles sips it
>MacReady watches him, then gives a resigned chuckle as the theme starts to play

The theory is that Chiles was the thing at that point. MacReady handed him a molotov instead of booze, Chiles drank it and showed no reaction. MacReady now knows that Chiles is the thing, so he gives a badass 'for fuck's sake' laugh.

Haddonfield, NJ is right next door to me.
I like how the film tries to emulate it, and has fucking outdoor hallways in the school and palm trees

>>71813660
Agreed.
Unfortunately for some, though, this movie's a lot more tied to its holiday than Halloween is.

>>71814139
That's fucking retarded.
If 'Halloween' wasn't in the title, I bet you a million dollars this would be a cheese classic like They Live.
>>
>>71814537
It was a very quick meet and greet session. I wanted to tell him that Halloween was the very first horror film I ever saw and it helped shape my taste in films but in the heat of the moment my mind went blank. I ended up just saying hi, telling him "you're the best" and asking him if there was a possibility of a reissue of the Coup De Villes' debut album. His response to the question was "I don't know, maybe. Never say never." He was very nice. He signed my Halloween poster and my Halloween/Escape from New York vinyl.
>>
What got me was the shot of Jamie Curtis crying as the theme is playing and the shots of the house. It completely does away with the good guy saves the day ending that you expect when the theme starts up again.
>>
>>71813748
Literally Goosebumps tier.
>>
>>71814421
That ending was such an ass pull. Omit the entire 'OMG SHE MADE IT' dream, and just show her dying in the cave or something, and it's a good ending. Remove the entire subterranean zombie bullshit, and just have the movie be four women who get lost and die while spelunking, and it would have been one of my favorite thrillers of all time.

Seriously, the initial descent into the cave where they're getting stuck and wriggling through tiny passages had me squirming.

Man, this so much. Imagine that situation - the guy was shot six times and he's still gone. He could be on the way back upstairs right now, and you only have an old geezer with an empty gun to protect you. Even if he still had bullets, what good would it do? The sheer shock and confusion from how he's still alive, goddamn.

I like the molotov theory, but even in Childs isn't the thing I always thought his laugh harks back to him losing the game of chess at the beginning. This time, instead of destroying the computer he can only laugh because they're either both going to die or Childs is going to infect the rescue team and reach civilization. Great, bleak ending.

Met him in Los Angeles, got him to autograph my Escape from New York record along with the Collector's Edition Blu-Ray. He's nice.

Exactly, it's just perfect for the tone of the movie. The Thing is my favorite horror movie of all time though, so I'm a little biased.

I didn't even think Halloween 1978 was that good. I thought it was kind of dreadful actually. Hocus Pocus was better.

Oh wow, you're a turbo pleb. Hocus Pocus is Disney channel tier shit, Halloween is an auteur-driven horror masterpiece.
