I've heard the phrase "sly fox" before. I have my whole life. It is common parlance. Okay, we got that?
I have never heard the phrase "dumb bunny." I mean, sexually maybe if you're throwing the terms around like confetti, you're going to get to that phrase eventually, but I have never heard it used commonly, and never as a rejoinder to "sly fox." The movie goes out of its way to make the point that one is counter to the other. Almost like this is the extended phrase: "Sly fox and dumb bunny."
Is that common? I've never heard it. Because I had never heard it, it seemed really awkward whenever they use it in the movie.

I think dumb bunny was just for the movie to show Judy's naivety when it came to the big city, and nick actually does come to realize she actually is quite clever and resourceful, especially when she levels the multiple charges and evidence against him to force him to work with her.
I didn't find it awkward personally.
