>>
House/Hausu was a piece of shit. Never trusting them ever again.
>>
Why would I pay money just to have a bunch of plastic crap around the house?
>>
>>71705751
>>71706770
they come with a compendium. its pretty sweet
>>
>>71705633
Late Ozu Eclipse boxset

Take your useless autism to a blacked thread please
>>

They have Nolan and Bay so I wouldn't be surprised if they did one day.

Anyone know if pic related is worth getting?
I've been kind of tempted to pick it up for years.

>no fun allowed
>>
>>71706770
To pick up hipster girls who think Netflix and Chill is too mainstream.
>>
>>71707574
Two years ago I was told it was about to go out of print so I plunked down the money.

I got lied to.

Days of Heaven and A Man Escaped
Might pull the trigger on Autumn Sonata before the end of the month
>>
>>71707669
Do they each come with a good amount of special features?
>>
>>71706770
Well if one is going to pay for movies, I'd rather pay for plastic crap than just digital content.
>>
>>71707916
I just don't see any point in filling my house up with something that's going to be obsolete within a few years. I already made that mistake twice with laserdisc and VHS.
>>
>>71708067
I don't think blu ray is going to be obsolete for another decade at least, especially since 1080p works best for the size of TV's most people want.
>>
>>71707669
It probably is since half the film's have gotten solo editions this year
>>
>>71707574
Does The Last Picture Show have it's own CC release? That's one of my favorite movies.
>>
>>71708386
Nope
>>
>>71708067
>>71708196
Blu-ray has been around for over a decade I think.

But at least in my opinion if you've a good sound setup and tv. You'll get better quality with blu-ray than from online, unless you're downloading full blu-ray rips.
>>
>>71707574
Easy Rider and Five Easy Pieces suck
>>
>>71708067
4k blu ray is the future proof format, but many movies only have 2k transfers so blu ray is as good as it gets
Also, the average home tv setup will show a minor upgrade anyways
>>
>>71710391
I honestly think 4k blu ray is going to flop like 3d blu ray.

There are proabaly less than 10 movies I'd actually be interested to see in 4k and most of them just aren't going to get releases or 4k transfers just due to economics. Most blu rays don't actually utilize 1080p simply because the cost of a good film transfer and restoration is too much for most companies to justify if the movie isn't a classic that they can guarantee interest in. Getting a 4k equivalent print is even more difficult considering the difficulty of finding quality source prints.

For instance. Apocalypse Now and 2001 a Space Odyssey will probably get 4k transfers eventually and I genuinely would want to see them but I can't say that for probably 100% of the 4k blu-rays out now.

In case anyone cares, Here are the movies I'd actually consider picking up in 4k.

Lawrence of Arabia
Apocalypse Now
2001 a Space Odyssey
Playtime
Ran

That's literally all I can even think of.
>>
>>71710784
Yea it'll probably flop at least in the start. Not that many people care or have 4K tv and a player.

It's still fairly new and expensive stuff that only enthusiasts will go for.

Eureka Masters of Cinema > Kino Pictures > Eclipse > Criterion

What if I like the movies Criterion releases? Does that make them bad because it isn't some b-rate britbong company releasing them?

For anyone picking stuff up online, starting tomorrow, B&N is having a 20% off coupon code.

Personally, I'm picking up:
> Wenders Road Trilogy
> Stilman Trilogy
> In the Mood For Love
> La Jetee/Sans Soleil
> Valerie & Her Week of Wonders
>>
>>71707574
No.

Five Easy pieces and The Last picture are the only movies in this set worth. Only get it if you can get it very cheaply, much cheaper than BN sale price.
>>
>>71715294
I just want the Akira Kurosawa movies to be affordable. Hell, when ARROW Video UK has their sale, everything is really damn affordable, not $20 per fucking movie.
Criterion is a joke regarding "sale" prices.
