Just finished watching Amadeus for the first time on /tv/'s recommendation and I have to say it was fantastic.

Is Salieri the most sympathetic and relatable villain of all time?

foil, antagonist, whatever you want to call him

He's a cunt in the movie. He's a great character, but almost all of his hardships stem from his own rotten personality.

It really is a shame there aren't more period piece films as the set design in Amadeus was brilliant. Something about Enlightenment era decor is just so comfy

How long do you guys think mozartposting will live? I give it a week at most.
>>
Reminder that Salieri is 4chan and Mozart is reddit
>>
He should have banged Constance when he had the chance, it would have made him feel better. Who the fuck turns down a baby-faced qt with huge jugs anyway? What a faggot.

>tfw you are the Salieri of your life
>>
>>71704683
I don't think he had a bad personality per se, but he did have an ego. If he'd never met Mozart it's quite likely his feelings of inadequacy and envy wouldn't have surfaced and that's the great tragedy about the whole thing.

I find him a very relatable character, however, as I think that everybody has met somebody in their lives who they can never hope to compete with. Someone who completely overshadows you with absolute ease and without even realising it.

>best friend since grade school
>in highschool he's 6'3", blonde hair, green eyes
>I'm 5'5" brown hair, brown eyes
>he's really popular with everyone and I'm just seen as his friend
>gets girls to do homework for him
>goes away to party college
>I stay and go into a tougher field
>bust my ass in school to get good marks
>get a good job and do nothing but work and save to buy my own place

You think there would be some kind of poetic justice but a rich girl approached him and club and pretty much gives him a free home, food, etc. Meanwhile I'm still single breaking my back trying to do it the 'normal' way.
>>
>>71705087
I can understand your frustration but I don't think it's comparable. Salieri, like a lot of people (myself included), was frustrated at the ease in which Mozart practiced a skill that Salieri worked his ass off at. And even with all his hard work he could still never hope to match Mozart.

It's one thing to be born short or ugly but those things you have no control over. But with a skill you do. And to have that skill you can improve upon, to have all the hard work you put into it blown away by sheer natural talent, nevermind their own hard work on top of that, is just an awful feeling.

Out of curiosity do you get along well with your friend or resent him?

There's actually a pretty great film on the making of the film itself

We're still best friends.

It's not really a skill rivalry, just that everything good happens to him because of what "god" gave him, while I have to squeeze blood from a stone to get anything. That's just the way it is.

Is claiming the villain is actually the good guy one of those memes I keep hearing about?
>>
>>71705231
Talent is also a thing you are born with, some people are much smarten and better than other people in their own profession eventhough they practice it for 2 months instead of 20 years.
>>
>>71705745
But talent doesn't mean shit if it doesn't have an outlet. Yeah there are people who get better than contemporary experts in a skill in no time at all but they still have to invest themselves to some degree in that skill.
>>
hnnnnnnnnnnnng

Which cut is better?
>>
>>71706403
Director's Cut. Adds a lot to the film without it feeling bloated or the scenes superfluous.
>>
Was he autistic? Something about him just seemed off.

>Is Salieri the most sympathetic and relatable villain of all time?

Hahaha, no. There's nothing more pathetic and contemptible than the Salieris of life.

As someone who always had natural talent in a number of things, there was nearly always a pathetic, bitter Salieri. After a while, though, it just gets to be funny.
>>
>>71704803
Not true, 4chan invents the memes.

After 20 years of ignoring it, and just recently seeing it, this may be my new favorite movie. The story is magical, what great characters, I don't care about historical accuracy in this case, it is a wonderful fable.
The art direction is fabulous, the costumes splendid, lighting is perfect in every scene. Acting is spot on. And the way the music flows with the narrative!!!
Overall, as close to perfection as a movie can get.
>>
>>71710239
spot on, mate

>>
>>71706825
I have to disagree. If it's a first time viewing one should really just stick with the film cut. The Director's edition adds some good scenes but the movie drags on too long. It's best watched by people who are already fans of the film.

All memes aside about her tits and all she is probably the best wife material film character of all time. She was just so sweet and loving and was genuinely devoted to her husband. Even when she was about to let Salieri fuck her it was because she genuinely wanted her husband's career to succeed instead of her being unsatisfied with the relationship and she still felt terribly guilty afterwards despite Salieri changing his mind.

>tfw you will literally never meet a girl like her
>>
They made him a cunt for the movie.

Real historical accounts of him say that he was actually a pretty decent guy.
>>
>>71705712
there are no real villains in unforgiven either. Little Bill was just doing what he must.
>>
>>71707083
Not anymore. 4chan has appropriated memes from tumblr, facebook, reddit and twitter.
>>
>>71717825
It's kind of both ways now.

It was 4chan making memes.

Then since people became famous making memes, people went to Reddit, etc to post OC and other good stuff in a bid to get famous, girls, money.

But now there are things people don't want to get seen doing, so 4chan is producing counter culture memes.
