Snyder is a grown man that has the mind of a 13 year old. He thinks being edgy and using allegories that doesn't even make sense in any kind of context is "deep". Of course you underage faggots would jump on the bandwagon since you also are retarded.

The movie itself is disjointed. When you watch a scene, then the next scene after it you realize that most of the scenes in the movie are fillers. It's edited like a cheap soap opera. The scenes don't go anywhere. They don't conclude.

Characters are stupid, unrealistic and badly acted other than few exceptions.

Again, allegories don't make any sense. For example, Lois made considerable amount of mistakes not to be considered as a "Virgin" and "pure". She isn't Superman's mother either. So that Lamentation of Christ reference in the movie goes straight into the trash. Another allegory in the movie is that Wonder Woman being depicted as Mary Magdalene which was a prostitute back in the day. Considering the movie tried depict heroes as best of the people in the last act, this one also falls short. Because that would imply Diana has returned back to prostitution. Prostitutes are sinners. Heroes are not. Humans are. In the beginning of the movie, the way Bruce rises from the pit means he's above the people. Another Christ reference. But at the end of the movie, he is depicted as Saint John the Apostle, also the youngest of Christ's disciples. Before becoming a disciple of Christ, he was disciple of John the Baptist. Jesus was also a disciple of John the Baptist. In DCEU, both characters are opposites. They never took the same path other than the last act. So this one also goes straight into the trash. Superman being depicted as Jesus is wrong in so many levels. He is responsible for the death of 5000 people. He has conflicted opinions about what's right, what's not. He IS a sinner. He can DO wrong. The movie has an urge to differentiate man from a hero, but they are same in the context.
>>
>>71651163
The film was a mess but I still loved it.

Mostly because Batfleck was so absolutely fucking awesome. To finally have a Bats that looked and moved like the Comic, Animated Series, Video game, etc was rad as hell.

Best live action Batman since Keaton's in my opinion.

An oddly enough, I actually liked Gal in the part. She still wouldn't be my personal choice to play WW, but she did alright.

I don't really have an opinion on Superman ad I've never been a big fan.

Lex was...interesting.

I dare say people who spam Bella Thorne have more refined taste than the cretins in this thread. Bergman as the be all end all of cinema? Sounds about right for nu/tv/, there is a reason why everybody laughs at this board. Posters just like you are that reason.

Why don't you go off and pretend you have taste because you like Tarkovsky or Kubrick so those of us who actually like cinema can have a good fucking laugh at your adorable attempts.

Things are getting faster. It took years for people to recognize The Phantom Menace as a bad movie but it only took months for people to do the same to TFA. I give it a couple years, max, before people realize how great BvS is.
>>
>>71653066
Congratulations, this is the most disgusting post I have seen in a while.

You readily dismiss the master works of Kubrick, Bergman, Tarkvosky and the like for more obscure works under the guise of them not being refined or esoteric enough for you, like you have the balls to think that some films were made and worked on for years all for providing the pretense of taste for some lonely dull child with an inferiority complex.
>>
>>71653142
>I'm such a moviebuff! I love the seventh seal, Kubrick, tarkovsky, bergman, 2001 is my fave! i have taste right guys???

Why don't you try learning about cinema before trying to play with the big boys. If you were to state such ridiculous things in front of me and my fellow cinephile members the place would erupt with laughter.

Snyder doesn't think "Huh, these characters have some glaring similarities with Biblical figures. I should incorporate some Biblical imagery to drive this observation home to the audience."

Having a positive opinion on any capeshit is reddit you disgusting 2014+ poster

Video Games = "entertainment" sensibility = autism.

This is predominantly an art board (the "entertainment" shit that is constantly being discussed here is a result of crossposters from pleb boards like /co/ and /v/)

True cinema = art which is the opposite to autism and in turn the opposite to video games.

The sensibilities resulting in video game appreciation are diametrically opposed to the appreciation of cinema as "art". Videogames/autism/"entertainment" are the reason for capeshit.

they were "sinning" by being antithetical to who they are meant to be
Batman's brutality is alluded to being made because of MoS and when Superman dies he lets Lex Luthor be spared the brand, a symbol of his brutality
Wonder Woman is slightly more straightforward in saying she gave up on man's world and helping it but decides to help Bruce because men can still be good

If you're referring to the metanarrative, it's a comment on how the comics fans "sinned" by insisting that their heroes be increasingly gritty, morally ambiguous, and "realistic."

In its original context, the death of Superman was essentially a marketing gimmick to combat declining sales for his titles during the "xtreme era" of 90s comics. As depicted in the film, Superman already exists in a grim, "realistic" world. His sacrifice and subsequent return will be the event that elevates a drab, mundane, "realistic" world into a place that has room for gods and larger-than-life heroes once more.

I expect the color palette to expand as these films progress, as well, serving as a symbolic indication of more magic in the world. I think we'll see that explored somewhat in Suicide Squad and expanded upon even further in Wonder Woman. I would not be at all surprised were we to see a drab, war-torn 20th century contrasted with a much more vibrant and magical past.
>>
>>71656032
Not really explained how that is
some people who didn't like Lex but liked the movie call him Lex Luthor Jr.
Maybe he'll become the comic book Lex and his dad never comes back or maybe Lex Jr will become a Batman villain like the Riddler or something and Lex Sr will come back.
I find both equally interesting and would embrace but I think it was just a way to explain why he is so young and also says that this isn't the same Lex you know and love.
>>

I personally think the DCCU should do prequels for a few of their characters, not just Wonder Woman. Cyborg and Aquaman seem to already exist some way and I would like to see their beginnings in their first respective solo movie. BvS implies the Flash just has powers and isn't actively helping people for the most part so he wouldn't need one.

Yeah, like most people that grew up liking Batman and other characters more, I think Cavill does a fine job.

I've started to warm up to the character of Supes a lot more as I've gotten older, but it takes interesting scenarios, and good presentation.

I liked him in BvS. I suppose a lot of hardcore Superman fans don't though.

Batman was perfect in my opinion though. Nailed it to hell and back.

>I liked him in BvS. I suppose a lot of hardcore Superman fans don't though.

I'm a hardcore Superman fan and I'm loving everything they've done so far. I think keeping him more of a cypher has worked well. It's going to be interesting seeing him adopt a more public persona. So far, he's just been this sort of aloof, largely mute guardian angel in the public eye that has yet to really speak up for himself.
>>
>>71656364
That's because Batman Returns is unironically the best made superhero film.
Doesn't stop BvS from having deep and meaningful shots.

>>

>>
>>71656205
Appearance-wise, Cavill is practically perfect to play the Man of Steel. Affleck as well, did pretty phenomenally as a hardened, cruel Batman, and Godot turned out better than I thought she would at first.

As far as Superman's character goes, BvS is actually a really interesting take. I get the feeling that for however well it was accomplished in the film, a lot of the outrage from comic communities is that they haven't seen a concept so ambitious for Superman in comics in a long time.

I don't think the film is terrific, and Snyder in my opinion is very hit and miss when it comes to backing up his symbolism through the movies' events, but I respect his drive to have a philosophical centre for the characters' motivations; especially for Lex, which was a very dangerous move (and one which didn't turn out so well for most movie-watchers, i.e. Martha). I also have a big weakness for superhero and vigilante deconstructions, and it's very obvious that Snyder shares it.
>>
>>71656104
>color palette to expand

>vibrant and magical past

you're jumping the gun

as bvs implied, there was already shit popping in the world, and already superheroes in it
look at our own world, with actual real life christianity, real life christianity which is supposed to have actual fucking batshit 'logic'. has the world become better than it was back then?
no, i don't think its fair to expect them to have some sort of cheap change into a 'contrasting' world. as has been supposedly leaked, people are already exploiting superman's death in suicide squad, and i hope they continue with keeping sort of a peripheral focus on how the world reacts in light of these things.

one of the best things about bvs is that mankind's encounter with the superman didn't change the world. all they could do was talk to each other about what it means

One thing I thought was weird in the ultimate cut did that confused me was the Bat brand is a symbol for his brutality but in the UE Lex has these men killed. >>
>>71656590
I look at his branding as having less to do with Bruce handing down a "death sentence" on the criminals he views as the worst of the worst and more him just marking them in a pretty brutal fashion.

Lex exploits this and definitely has at least one of them killed, but as for the rest, the types of criminals Bruce was branding don't tend to fare so well in prison to begin with, so the news reports could have just as easily been sensationalist news coverage putting their spin on things without Lex's further involvement.

Bruce's attitude was basically apathy in regards to what happened to them, and as a guy whose image thrives on fear, any dark associations the brand would take on, he'd probably just view as working in its favor as an instrument of fear.

I honestly don't care how you perceive it. I used to be a vfx compositor, so I'm used to calibrating my monitors. Do you know how much of a pain in the ass it is to be working on a shot, thinking you got the color right, and then it be different on another monitor?

I had this one idiot who kept asking for us to oversaturate the colors, until they were practically blown out. Turns out his monitor settings were all fucked up. Half the compositors on my team wanted to strangle him.

The CG model for this communion character is the result of someone in the computer imagery department taking Doomsday's CG model, and adding on some horns and spikes here and there, instead of starting from scratch to produce a distinct, intimidating alien figure.

It comes across as lazy, and a poor design decision.

Even then, though, I wouldn't mind them scrapping his 'human' appearance for something appropriately exotic, as long as they actually put effort into the final design.

I feel like Snyder just told the CG team to whip something up in an afternoon so he had additional advertisement material ready for JL he could slap on the Ultimate Edition.

Maybe not wake him up at all and keep him on ice as a backup. Or maybe put him on a delayed release and let him kill the Bat while he got the hell outta Dodge.

He could then go on with Plan B, which would still have him forming the other metahumans into his own Justice League, just like he was planning all along.
