Talons of Weng Chiang is a six-parter, but I just finished part four and honestly, if this was a Pertwee serial and The Master was behind everything, the serial could have just ended there. The way Episode Four plays out and particularly ends, I feel like I've alreayd hit the climax.

It feels like a four-parter with two other parts thrown onto the end. I hope the other parts aren't as superflous as I'm expecting

Watching it now, it is a BIT strange how there are plenty of real Asian actors, but the only leading role is played by a white man in yellowface. It would be hard to justify that to a modern sjw type. But it WAS the bbc, and t was the 70s, so you just have to kind of deal with it.

>>
The policy sounds rude, no matter how much it makes sense. Saying they don't dedicate programmes to "members of the public" makes it sound like we're all beneath those who work in TV.

It's also a stupid policy anyway and one I very much doubt they'd adhere to if they didn't want to. If Moffat's mum died and he wanted to dedicate an episode to her nobody at the BBC would tell him he couldn't.
>>
>>71624194

I hope the next TARDIS doesn't have an inverse police box door. They should have something like the classic series, just without the zig-zag going down the centre.
>>
>>71624363
It could look pretty nice in the right lighting. Series 5 was the worst. It gives me anxiety just looking at it.
>>
>>71624363
Looking at it here, it seems like the horrific central node of some flesh beast alien monstrosity out to probe the arseholes of all lesser races. How far that applies to RTD's vision of the show is debatable.
>>
>>71624363
It's my least favourite console room. Not a fan of Matt Smith's first either, but I love the colours of it
>>
>>71624363
I was prepared to agree with you but seeing the picture for some reason it looks quite appealing to me. Not that I want anything like this again, but seeing it side-by-side with the current one is interesting because they're both similar sizes but very distinct. We should have more variation like this.

>>71624367
The inverse door was sort of a brilliant idea though, surprising it had never been done. I've seen all of the old series and I'm still not certain where that interior door actually leads to.
>>
>>71624289

>>

>>
>>71624406
>I'm still not certain where that interior door actually leads to
I think the different door is basically meant to stress that inside and outside are completely different dimensions. A door that's one way in one dimension is completely different in the other. It was kind of a nice jarring effect but I see how it could have been deeply impractical for the kind of things they want to do.
Imagine the bit in Bells of Saint John where they go directly out of the TARDIS and into the aeroplane, but with a bulky Classic-style interior door?

>>
>>

I don't think I ever realised how much I dislike this design until now.

>>71624472
That's an interesting idea, one that could be shown much better with modern technology. A lot of the time in the classic series it gave the impression that it didn't lead straight outside but to some sort of dark room inbetween. But then I think I remember instances where the outside was shown through the doorway from the interior too, although rarely.

>>

Grace kills him by accident but it's ironic the Doctor is shot immediately it's made by Americans, that is true.
>>
>>71625484
it was there to serve the plot. Although I think it might have worked better if Mccoy had already stumbled half-dead out of the tardis, with the implication that his adventure on Skaro did it to him.
>>
>>71625565
I would have liked to have seen more of him as Bruce. Build the character a bit more so that his death has more significance. It's also a shame they dropped the idea of his body decaying over the course of the film.
>>
>>71625615
Making it even more incomprehensible to new viewers.
>>
>>71625615
So why did Skaro let the Doctor come to their planet to get The Master's ashes? Was it like a brief ceasefire between the Doctor and the Daleks so they could finally get rid of the Ainley/Beevers Master?
>>
>>71625606
No. Everything is canon. Even if it contradicts something else.
>>
>>71625633

I prefer to think it is all part of the Master's plan and maybe his execution is all faked.
For all we know the snake thing is Dalek tech.
In my headcannon this is a copy of the Master anyway. The real one knows this plan is extremely dangerous and can fail.
>>
>>71625503
You know when I first saw this I really thought this was stupid and complete humiliated the Master's character then I saw sperm snake master, cheetah virus Master and how the Master was once a spooky skelington that touched someone and merged with their body and I noticed that the Master has always been a joke.
>>
You know the TV Movie isn't nearly as bad as people say. I think it's more enjoyable than Rose desu. Wouldn't have minded a Mcgann 90s season.
>>

If they put the focus a little bit differently it would have worked pretty well. Grace's (and the Doctor's) main motivation in the first part of the movie is finding out who and what he is, it's the big central mystery, and the scenes that relate to it are really great. The amnesiac doctor in the hospital, etc.

Too bad the movie actively tries to undermine it by providing all the answers in the first five minutes and THEN asking the corresponding questions as the movie goes on.
>>
>>71625855
But the plot was about stealing incarnations. You had to show an earlier Doctor.
