Season 3 and 4 are the best ENT.

Some people prefer 3 to 4 or vice versa just stay away from this episode (Daedalus) and the very last episode and I think you'll have a good time.

It's much more fanservice to the TOS era as well dedicated 2-3 episode arcs.

Most people like it, even if ENT is not their thing.

Enterprise had a much higher ratio of good to bad episodes than any other Star Trek series.

I would say the best seasons are 1-3, but there are a few very good episodes in season 4.

Season 4 would have been infinitely better without the TNG trappings, including Riker, Troi, and that fag that played Data.
>>
>>71538821
Well, at least in my experience, 3 and/or 4 are the two seasons people like most from Enterprise (if they like the series at all).

The last thread was basically an homage to the series until janny got a littl uptight.

>>
>>71539147
The Riker & Troi episode was the "finale", which even the cast hated and is thought of as not even being part of the series but a holodeck simulation during the episode "Pegasus" from TNG.

The augments episodes was "okay". The stupid ripped shirts and super human power seemed ridiculous and I agree that the use of Spiner as Dr. Soongh's "grandfather" was even more of a hint that they were trying to use all of the past series' coattails to get the ratings up.
>>
>>71539000
The first season Is set in the Enterprise B era.

Then the producer said something about another 13 episodes set in another era or timeline. Maybe even the Kelvin timeline we still don't know.
>>
>>71538850
Name one stinker in season 4 other than the finale, the premiere, the transporter episode, the angsty teenagers in ripped clothing, the angsty teenage Klingons with smooth foreheads, or the one where Shran refuses to save the galaxy unless he can fight Archer to the death

A whole episode where he helps the Bolian graduate program their holographic timeline interface.

Another episode that involves him being fitted for his black time travel suit and looking over new changes in the temporal-verse.

Was it ever acknowledged in-universe just how often Worf was right, or at the very least perceptive that a situation was not as it appeared to everyone else?

It's painful to watch him get sidelined time and time again in TNG for being absolutely appropriate in his caution of situations.

Seeing that chart again tells me the franchise was overall in a slow dive regardless of what was being shown.

DS9 wasn't on a network, it was being syndicated.

Voyager was hamstrung by the network and had bad writers.

Yet both timelines of viewers seem to coalesce in a natural downward slope that only crests in season finales.

The argument that DS9 got better ratings doesn't seem to hold much water if you take into account the continual drop off after TNG ended.

I wasn't arguing for him, either.

I'm just making the obvious point from your graph that both series are in a consistent downslope from the pilot to the very the end (with maybe a slight exception in Voyager's case, probably to do with DS9 being off the air).

Neither series retained TNG's original audience and it might have been for the good of the franchise.

A TNG-esque series would inevitably lose steam and peter out leaving us with less Trek, even if it's questionable Trek like Voyager.

You know, since I know now that you are no longer trolling and I know what you like, but did you know that a TON of Gen X academic Jews worshipped TNG? Like that shit was their favorite show amongst 80s/90s Jews in college.

My father fits that mold and he could tell you more about TNG even though I binged on it in college.

And now that I'm a few years post-graduation I find that a lot of white people that remember or are were recently introduced to Star Trek never say anything about Jewish influence or perversion of some original concepts.

You could argue that Gene was ten times more perverse and blatant with liberal ideas than any of the writers thereafter (most weren't even Jewish).

You should lighten up for once. Some of us are actually normal middle-class people.

Why doesn't anyone ever talk about Phlox here?

I thoroughly enjoyed Phlox in Enterprise and it feels like everyone talks about the humans and T'Pol but Phlox never makes it into conversation.

He's definitely my second favorite doctor.

I'm still unsure whether he had sex with T'Pol to cure her pon far.

But his unusually shy behavior in the decon chamber seemed a little out of character for him considering his actions earlier on, like wanting to watch two crewmen "mate", or encouraging Trip to fuck his wife, and then laughing about it when Trip refused.

I completely agree, especially considering that they had established Denobulan society as a very open sexually.

The closest thing I can think of similar to how he acted there was his original apprehension towards Ensign Cutter in season 1 or 2.

And, no, I don't think they fucked. It was implied he came up with some concoction or some shit and put her in the decon chamber. It wasn't resolved well.

I think that they just weren't careful enough to take note of the character episode to episode to be aware of two disparate aspects of who he was.

In hindsight, it's really not that big of a deal for me because I feel like his upside as comic relief and impartial observer to humanity's space foray folly.

I just think he had a lot of personality that's so easily forgotten when random people try to disparage the show for having bland characters with no real arc or development.

Given the change in writing, the change in executives at UPN, and the last season being pretty much a surefire final one, there wasn't much of a chance to do a unique fully realized conclusion for some of them, Reed or Mayweather especially.

Hell, Voyager had 7 seasons and they botched a few of the characters' "arcs". They pretty much forgot about Harry in the finale.

High points of S4 of ENT:
-Nazi Temporal Cold War Aliens in New York
-Vulcan/Romulan/Sarek's cotra three parter
-Observer Effect
-Bound for Trip/T'Pol and Orion Slave Sluts
-In a Mirror Darkly
-Terra Prime Two Parter

So yeah, pretty much half and half for me. Observer Effect is definitely one of my favorites.

I generally agree with your assessment.

Didn't care much for the green Orion girls. They looked like std farms... and they were total feminists.

I liked everything else you listed, but I also liked the Klingon arc, and the Babel 1 arc.

I even thought the augment story was ok, but the inclusion of Spiner basically ruined it for me. IMO he's always been way overrated, and way overused.

So actually, aside from that, the finale, and the transporter kang being my picks for worst episodes, I really can't say I haven't found at least something entertaining, or interesting about every episode, even the bad ones.

I mainly liked the B-story of "Bound" with T'Pol and Trip being in each other's day dreams and basically just continuing the development of the two.

I just can't seem to get over that Daedalus episode. I think it was because the old man seemed more like some old blues singer as opposed to a transport scientist. Not to mention it was just sort of cheesy with some forced past romance between Archer and the black chick.

I also didn't like the whole Aenar / Romulan arc except for Trip and Reed getting thrown all over that mosquito ship.

As for Brent..
Spiner as Data is fucking out of this world.
Spiner as Lore, fun but somewhat annoying in a bad way.
Spiner as some smug ancenstor of Soongh, fucking embarrassing.

He comes across as one of those guys who doesn't realize he has that much talent or that his jokes are pretty lame.

I liked that arc, and I'll tell you why... It was like Degra said in the Xindi story... "We may not know who the real enemy is."

It was a quintessential false flag operation, portrayed in a way that even plebs can watch, and easily understand how they actually work in the real world.

Yeah, I guess I specifically really did not like the Aenar. I feel they were created simply to have a pilot who could somehow feel telepathic messages light years away. The beginning with Archer, the Tellarites, Shran, all being manipulated had me.. It was about when they showed that Aenar pilot and then finally this weird race of blind telepaths ..I don't know, just seemed like they were created to fill that role on the subspace holographic ship or whatever.

They had an opportunity, as well, to include the previous storyline with the Vulcan senator who was in collusion with the Romulans as part of it. They basically ended that Vulcan three parter with the idea we might see that guy or his accomplices very soon.

>I find that a lot of white people that remember or are were recently introduced to Star Trek never say anything about Jewish influence or perversion of some original concepts.

A lot of white people are jew stupid. But of course the jews' ill-gotten stranglehold on education, media, and government probably has nothing to do with that. Right?

>You could argue that Gene was ten times more perverse and blatant with liberal ideas than any of the writers thereafter (most weren't even Jewish).

A lot of white people have been corrupted by perversion and liberal ideas. But of course the fact that if one traces the ultimate source of most any kind of corruption, perversion, or harmful "liberal" ideas, one inevitably finds a jew, well, that's just a coincidence. Right?

>You should lighten up for once. Some of us are actually normal middle-class people.

What's "normal" for a jew, e.g. killing Christ, the black slave trade, bolshevism, communism, WWI, WWII, the Kennedy assassination, the holohoax, the Palestinian genocide, 911, multiculturalism, numerous other acts of terrorism, Al-Qaeda, ISIS, the Samson Option, and generally wrecking every country your people have infested over millennia with your usury, and racist, supremacist, retarded religion, is not necessarily "normal" for anyone else.

Honestly I'm just fascinated to see how they try to make Star Trek seem futuristic in 2016 now that we have smartphones and tablets that seem far more futuristic than communicators and tricorders. >The only futuristic tech in Star Trek anymore is the stuff that is just straight up magic like transporters and replicators.

Except there's nothing magic about them. The "in-between" technology to create the outcome is just not there. The principles behind them are based entirely quantum physics.

They are creating a pattern out of your entire body down to the atomic/sub-atomic level then turning your matter into energy with the resequencing of that matter sent as part of the transmission so that when it reaches it's intended target the pattern "buffers" sequence the matter back into it's coherent atomic makeup.

How they send the energy transmission is a whole different story as it's only outlined as being something called the "annular confinement beam". Which suggests it's "pulsed" in some way to it's location.

What I'm saying is what that one new age beat knick said about "technology so advanced would be indistinguishable from magick". Replicators use the same technology as transporters by simply using a pattern of some item and then taking it's base elements and assembling them to create what you wanted.

People make the mistake of calling 3D printers "proto-replicators" but they are entirely wrong considering we aren't converting energy to matter or even specific matter to a different type of matter.

The problem with DS9 was that, while it was GOOD, don't get me wrong, it was also a lot more niche.

The show assumed on a base level that you were already familiar with the trappings of Star Trek to a point where you wouldn't mind some variation.

Most of the population didn't feel that way.

It's why Voyager went back to the episodic format from TNG. Except Voyager just had shitty writing.

Man, nothing makes me sadder than Enterprise.

On paper, Enterprise is an amazing idea!

Early era of Trek, heavy on exploration! Awesome
A good excuse for time and alternate universe shinaniganery? Brilliant!
Hire some of the best sci-fi writers of the time?Great!
The captain is played by one of the most iconic and memorable sci-fi character actors of all time? Make it happen!

And then it came out, and then it was just sorta...splat.

Scott Bacula was really the biggest tragedy of the whole thing. Archer was a pretty great character, all things considered, and you could tell Bacula acted the hell out of what little he got. Both the actor and the character deserved better than that, man.

Enterprise's most significant problem is that it had no fucking integrity or identity until it was too late. Remember how they marketed it as "No phasers. No transporters. No Federation." or some shit like that? Well in the second goddamn episode a handheld phaser shows up, then they get phasers for the ship and then photon torpedoes and at that point it's functionally more-or-less the same as any other Trek except with "hull plating" instead of "shields" and an actual galley instead of a bank of replicators so why not toss in gratuitous transporter use as well and shave off some of the budget? They basically gutted the entire premise of the show - from the beginning - to make it more like every other Trek. Almost as importantly, the show waffled horribly between "new and exotic" and "references and/or nostalgia" for the first two seasons and did neither well - and the fact that most of the dialogue seemed to be written under the impression that the cast consisted of sharpie'd two by fours instead of actual sapient beings just compounded the issue.

In S3 they more-or-less dropped even the wafer-thin pretenses of "primitive" exploration as the show started to find its own direction and S4 was [nearly] solid gold because the direction of the show seemed to be "fuck it; let's have fun" more than anything else in particular and did they ever - Orion slave girls, duels to the death in the name of diplomacy, Romulans, Nazis, the whole nine yards. They basically cherry-picked a ton of things fondly remembered from TOS, things that worked, and carefully put them in different contexts to make them seem fresh and new and it worked brilliantly.

Kira was never attractive to me. She always had the face of a little boy, especially with those short Rachel Maddow cuts.

On the other hand, Ezri looked like a cute teen girl with a simplistic yet elegant look befitting of a Starfleet officer.

Even Jadzia, with her broad shoulders carried a greater sense of femininity that Kira.

I'm not sure I'll ever understand the infatuation with her, and you'd think people would find the best of her from when she was younger and not be so fearful of time by showing that 2013 picture of her on a golf cart and the grey streak saying "DAMN, Nana Visitor looks like THAT?!"

Jesus H. Christ 9/10 post right here.

This is probably about as accurate of an appraisal of Enterprise in terms of objectively determining why and how it was a general failure.

They realized that the previous' Trek was what they rode in on but once they laid out the show for everyone, they knew this wasn't going to work and that some of the previous audience was going to leave. And they did exactly that. They couldn't perceive of a prequel without all of that previously established technology because it had become second nature in series like Voyager. 1/4 of the dialogue was talking about the devices and the ship and suddenly without that the writers balk at shaving it off.

You have to blame Rick Berman for that out of all of them. Star Wars just did a prequel. They were coming up on the last of Voyager and had exhausted just about every known premise in the Trekverse so that they could keep casual viewers for one more week and it turned out a prequel was like getting pancakes without blueberries, eggs, bacon and the trimmings. It was just lesser version of it's previous incarnations until they finally took chances.

Agree with you entirely about S3-S4.

I think S6-S7 Kira when she was "dating" Odo was the best looking Kira of the series. Which is funny to me considering she was both older than S1 Kira and had just popped out a kid the previous year.

Not to mention, she dropped the whiney, cunty, almost bratty attitude of former Bajoran female terrorist and stick up her ass over anything Cardassian Major Kira and evolved into Kira Nerys.

I always use the quintessential moment I liked most about her development being the episode "Chimera" where the other Changeling pretty much obliterates half the senior staff at Quark's calling them all hypocritical and this, that and third.

She just responds quietly with "It's not funny" and "Odo can take care of himself." which is such a complete 180 from the previous Kira who would've had a temper tantrum and left huffing and puffing.

No, I agreed with him in the particular statements he made about S3-S4.

He mentioned that at some point they quit trying so hard to be two different things that weren't working together and decided to "have fun" and use what worked best about Trek and take chances.

Before that, they were so hindered by the prequel's lack of what made part of 90s Trek so unique and ultimately noticeable to the casual viewer.

Power creep.
>No, we gotta have photon torpedoes because regular torpedoes aren't iconic enough
>No, we gotta have phasers everywhere because phasers are magic and literally no other weapons ever work as well except disruptors and only criminals and Klingons use those ;^)
>No, we gotta have Phlox put Crusher, Bashir and Starfleet Medical to shame while working in their equivalent of a Napoleonic warship and using literal leeches
>No, the hull plating needs to be able to take as much abuse as shields or we won't be able to drag out battles for as long

To your credit, Chakotay is the only person Janeway has shown any feelings (however platonic they may be) for, so I guess it's hard to picture her with anyone else.

There's this idea called the hedgehog's dilemma which is used as an analogy for people being too afraid of becoming close and hurting each other in the process. I think it resonates well with Janeway's story.

pretty much the only good thing about the newest Trek movies is the cheesecake.

I saw the trailer for the latest one and it has a dirtbike jumping over an explosion.

Trek is dead.
On the upside, somewhere out there an alien race has discovered the continuing spinning urn of Gene Rodenberry and has harnessed it for unlimited energy.

Which era or movie had the best uniforms?

My vote is for First Contact. Not only is it my favorite Star Trek movie, but it has the most tastefully done uniforms.

My favorite of all the uniforms is late DS9.

They had the columnated shoulder design greyed and was like the natural progression of the TNG season 1 uniforms.

Stupidest fucking episode ever, really.
I mean, honestly, given the KLINGONS that they know full-well about and the myriad of other species they couldn't conceive of why someone might just haul off and murder a motherfucker?

With medical technology that was supposed to fix every illness mental and physical (for at least humans) which seemed to also include being gay (seriously, no gay humans in space) they couldn't even fucking begin to imagine random acts of murder?
>>
>>71574418

murder in an era where all needs are met is quite a startling thing for them

I agree, the concept is good.
The execution is lacking though. Often times the Voyager crew seems like complete fucking retards just to show that they're FUTURE people.
