Why end Got at all if it is profitable? Besides we will get a prequel series and I imagine a spin-off and a movie as well from GoT. GoT should be in production in one form or another for decades because it is fresh and a proven income generator.

Game of Thrones at least got a season or two where they made an effort of following the source material. The Shannara Chronicles raped their source material out the gate and just kept degrading it further and further.
