I like R&M overall but it bugs the shit out of me when they try for dark and emotional sequences. They always seem out of place to me. I feel like the writers are trying really hard to get me to take the show seriously or something. It's always annoying when a show is all over the map tonally.

I love it! It's my favourite current show, but it might not make my GOAT list after 4 or 5 more seasons. They need to hire more diverse voice actor, because Justin Roiland is a lot more limited than he thinks. Watch them in order faggot, there's continuity. Even from the first episode of season 2 you won't know everything that's happening. Yes you might be able to pick up on it after a few mins but watching them all in order is the best way to do it. Also there is a lot of character development, especially for Rick, throughout the whole show. Morty also grows as a character a lot but Rick changes even more and redeems himself.

It's not always out of place, like the love potion episode where they replaced their own dead selves, the episode where morty takes ricks portal gun, and the last episode of s2. Some things while yes they did make sense in the story seemed kind of forced in, even if I did like it, like Rick trying to kill himself because he's such a fuck up and has to go through life trashed then got too trashed and even fucked that up.
